'Irving is prepared to sit out the remainder of the campaign amid his growing frustration with the Nets, KRON-TV’s Jason Dumas reported Wednesday. The star point guard, who has missed Brooklyn’s last five games while the NBA investigates videos of his maskless partying, reportedly is irate with the organization for multiple reasons, including the hiring of head coach Steve Nash.'
'There also are reports indicating Brooklyn’s acquisition of James Harden was not approved by Irving, who reportedly was not answering the Nets’ calls as recently as Wednesday afternoon.'
Absent this guy having real mental health issues, he is one bizarre character. From believing the earth is flat to his comments to the media before the season to this...
If I was Sean Marks, Steve Nash, or anyone in the organization, I'd be beyond pissed with this guy. The dude has gone completely AWOL in the middle of a season that has championship aspirations.

Uh, a lot of people. I watch more random NBA games than non Giants NFL games.
I imagine the NESN reporters have a grudge against Kyrie.
Marks could easily not say anything. That is his usual MO. I don’t think he would make a statement just for it to be an outright lie.

the guy likely has some pretty bad mental health issues so maybe pump the brakes on hating him intensely or whatever.
If he does, I wish him the best. But if not...really indefensible.
I'm not a psychologist, but for better or for worse I know a lot of people with varying degrees of mental health issues. This reminds me of that. I could be wrong. If he really is just a huge selfish brat, then yeah, screw him.
He hit arguably the biggest shot in the history of the NBA. Great analysis.
Haha, I'm so desperate for good PG play that I'd totally take this lunatic on the Knicks.
I think this has everything to do with what has gone on in this country, as far as i will go because i dont want to turn political..
1 game i understand, now it is jist craziness
I mean i live and work in DC and it def shook me. My work did close our building on Wed/thur but by Friday i was expected you know to go back to work.
League looking into the absence and I believe if he violated the NBA protocol, its like a $450k hit per game to Kyrie
There was a report from an executive in the NBA who said Nets can void his contract if he doesnt report soon
Nobody is touching him, even the Knicks wouldnt trade for him
Just for arguments sake, what team would even currently entertain trading for him?
Would lebron give the Ok to jettison spare parts for him? Would Riley think his talent is worth trading away Iggy and Dragic for him?
Again Kyrie would probably have to come back first and he would have to ok the deal, but we have seen this all the time in sports. Its the Crazy/hot scale but its pain in the ass/talent, as long as the talent is there someone will keep taking shots with them.
Maybe a team would take him in a salary dump but I honestly even doubt that. This is on top of the fact that he is constantly injured.
I don't think the Lakers or Miami would go down that road. You are risking him blowing up your team and you have that monster salary on the books.
Whether they cut him (no chance they do this, they are in cap hell and lose him for nothing, they gain nothing) or trade him for 10 cents on the dollar the team will end up worse and i dont see how they get close to coming out of the East.
I just randomly chose MIA and LA.
The contract wouldnt really matter to teams that are way over the cap, that would be the kind of team id be saying would take a chance.
He has also forfeited $800K in salary for the two games he has missed thus far.
Will he be back vs Magic? Stay tuned.

Apparently he is expected to play saturday
lol. that movie wasn't great, but it was a lot better than I thought it would be...
Agreed. Sounds like an episode. Hope he gets back into his right mind.
i have entirely talked myself into being very excited about the trade. i think part of my coping is i can get excited for the cavs too with the Allen.

you got a guy who's made first team all nba SIX TIMES. Allen is good but he's about to get really expensive. Lavert is good but he's always hurt and you no longer need him. There is obviously risk with the picks...but only on the back end. I'd be very excited.
I'm glad you were able to muster some enthusiasm for three first-ballot Hall of Famers in there primes being on your team! (sarcasm: ON). Just kidding, a trade like that must be a shock to the system for a fan. Now excuse us Knicks fans while we watch our starting backcourt go 4-30 from the field tonight.
really its a matter of kyrie playing- if he does- sky is limit- if he doesnt- the other 2 are going to have a difficult (but still possible) track to the finals

My buddy is from Cleveland and told him he'll like watching Allen.
Cleveland has received some 'fan favorites' in the last few days with Allen and Gimenez

Cleveland fans and press are finally starting to warm to the job my friend doing as GM.... as if inheriting a departing king and crazy kyrie was some easy starting point for him.
they have a good young core and some vets to trade.

I am assuming they will be moving Drummond next?

just think how much further along they'd be if they didn't botch the Kyrie trade...
when a guy demands a trade, and you have to get back a vet, a defender, and picks as well... its very hard to find what can work. that had some gilbert in it- the demand.
also he got the nets unprotected pick. the nets outperformed and the pick was 8--- had it been top 5 they get ayton, doncic, young, jaren jackson possibly.
Im not sure what they really could have done much different.

compared to other superstar trades, the return was weak. And it was borderline malpractice to take on Isaiah and not know if he was healthy. Even if he was healthy, he was a UFA after a year. And of course the Celtics were sitting on a pile of assets at the time. All kinds of picks from other teams...not to mention Smart, Rozier, Bradley, Brown, Taytum, etc.
Lebron wanted a vet pg a 3 and d guy and Koby wanted picks
You can call it whatever you want but nothing was out there at the time - I think I know a bit about how it went down - and a key was the pick as lebron was 100 percent leaving after that anyways while still complaining and demanding on every move
The fact is he has rebuilt the team post star to have pieces in place nicely - and that is without having any lotto luck
Sources: Kyrie Irving will be out due to health and safety protocols for Saturday’s game against Orlando.
While Irving has expressed a desire to return, sources say, the extensive time away from the court requires a period of ramping up basketball activities.
