And similar to you, my girlfriend had a friend over to watch the game (and she was an SF fan) and I was so pissed... and all she kept saying was this was how I figured it would turn out the Giants record was much better than they actually were.
Tough physical game against the Vikes, short week, travel to SF, and SF was loaded and fired up. 1993 Giants were a good team, but their limit was reached.
and fuck Rickey Watters and double fuck him for going to the Eagles after that too
Rickey Watters was a player that was very easy to dislike
I agree, but he was a great all-around RB. Not sure why he isn't in Canton yet...
Easy answer, and I quote Mr. Ricky Watters directly "...For who? For What?"
For those needing a reference, the question to Mr. Watters was, I am paraphrasing, Why did you not go all out to catch a pass over the middle?

He is reviled in Philly for that moment.
My Dad and I had to tape the game because we were out in NY during the day. We had dinner at Carmines with fam and grandparents. I was seated facing the bar and they had the game on, but I refused to watch so that I could watch with Dad at home.
Dad made the tragic (although not so much based on the score) mistake of turning on the TV before the VCR, the TV was on ESPN, Sportcenter was just starting and there were clips of Watters running into the end zone with Chris Berman saying "the Giants came to Candlestick for a rematch of 3 years ago, but the 49ers SURE HAD SOME RUNNING WATTERS TODAY!" Dad said, well that means they lost. I watched about a half and turned it off.

If we had beaten the Cowboys in week 16 to get the home field advantage, we wouldn't have had to play them in the first place. Stupid Reeves stupid conservative game plans

Especially when sherrard went down w injury earlier in the year.

Reeves had some good qualities, but his predictable and conservative play calling is why he never won the big one, IMO.

I remember that when John Elway was asked once about why he had so many come-from-behind victories, he said something to the effect of "because there were so many games when we were behind." Which was understood to be a veiled swipe at Reeves.
Watched the game with my brother, who had taken the train up from the city to my apartment in Poktown. We were stunned and depressed. As a last ditch effort to revive our spirits, we shut the TV off in the 4th quarter, and put on some music. It was somewhere around 8pm.
Within 10 minutes, there was a knock at the door. It was my upstairs neighbor, a grizzly old bag, asking me to turn the music down, as her partner, another grizzly, had a headache. My jaw dropped. It wasn't loud, and it wasn't late. I turned the music off all together, and my brother and I looked at each other like, wtf?

Give Reeves credit, he knew how to control Elway. Similar to Dean Smith being the only coach who could hold Michael Jordan below 20 points. :-)
when we beat the 49er's 49-3. It comes around and it goes around. This is professional sports. Sometimes you are the windshield - sometimes you are the bug.
I was furious... LOL
