It’s been a whole year since Eli Manning left the New York Giants after a decorated 16-year career. Miss him yet? Well, he’ll be around a little more going forward if he has his way.

Sir Eli!!!
Lost in the pandemic year
Chris684 : 1/17/2021 8:26 am : link
was Eli Manning day/night at MetLife. Can’t wait for 2021.

The more Eli around this franchise the better.
QB coach?

Love it!!

Was great seeing him with Cruz at the Stadium the other day. Guys like him can o my stay out of football for so long. Glad he took the year "off" but the game needs him in any capacity! I would love him back as a coach.
Thanks but no thanks
DannyDimes8 : 1/17/2021 9:14 am : link
Watch Mara give him a position he’s not qualified for he’ll screw it up and then he’ll stick around forever while his cult tries to rationalize his shortcomings similar to his playing career
Get real football people in here Jawn, this will be a disaster like most Mara decisions
Hmmm...
LBH15 : 1/17/2021 9:15 am : link
Have Eli back as an NFL coach?
If Eli
PaulN : 1/17/2021 9:45 am : link
Takes on a position, I will be confident he would be good at it.

Oh will he? Can you point to any other example to support your claim?
I hate to use this often abused phrase, but I think it's a win-win.
Ira : 1/17/2021 10:09 am : link
Eli has been in the trenches all of those years and he's clearly a very smart guy who knows football. Put him in the front office and use his brains and football knowledge to help evaluate players and prospects.
I could see a role in the spring
KeoweeFan : 1/17/2021 10:16 am : link
as a resource for preseason instruction of QBs.
There is an Eli, Danny and Cutcliffe connection so it should be an easy phase in.

The truth according to who, you? You may have a high opinion of yourself but what Eli knows about football is more than you or I will ever know about the inner workers.

On a side note. I think you are a Cowboy fan because of how stupid you truly are
Predictable thread

I saw the headline and figured it would take 2 posts before someone talks about how bad an idea it is without actually knowing what Eli being involved even means.

It’s only a select few but sometimes I really hate rooting for this team along side some of you.
I could see Eli doing something similar to what
JohnF : 1/17/2021 10:49 am : link
Jessie Armstead, who did some coaching/player development during training camp, but wasn't an official "Full time" coach. Considering he does similar things with the Manning Passing Academy, it would be a natural fit.

And yes, Daniel Jones is still very early in his career, and can use help with breaking down video of teams, and self evaluation, as well as the normal QB drills. Although I wish Eli was able to train DJ on how to take hits without getting injured severely ;)

More likely, Eli will do organizational outreach for the Giants organization in the community (charity hospital fundraisers, kids athletics fundraisers, possibly fan fests when it's safe to do that sort of thing, etc.)

You do have the right to express your opinion, regardless of how ignorant it is, but he’s the thing. Others have as much right to call you out for being the douche nozzle you are.

The ball’s in your mouth, I mean court.

It boggles my mind that some so called Giant fans hate their 2-SB winning QB so much, that they will bitch and moan at what will amount to little more than a ceremonial PR position. The kind of thing EVERY TEAM IN THE LEAGUE does with their great players upon retirement.

The thing about opinions is that they aren't all created equal.

In your case you don't have two brain cells to rub together.

My hero? Eli was not my hero. Not even one of my favorite Giants.

I will report you if you cross the line and if you don't like it, don't post questionable or derogatory material. Ball is in your court. You have not as of yet, but your bullshit is only posted to garner a negative reaction which you can then use to troll posters and egg on replies with snide comments and semi-personal attacks. You are good at it. I started to ignore one such individual(also a "recent" member) and shortly thereafter he was terminated which not of my doing and I don't know what precipitated that banning but I welcomed it. You could be next(or I).

So have a nice day.

Imagine it'll be in some ceremonial role. And if so, great. He's an all time great Giant.
I don't think he means coaching at all
Milton : 1/17/2021 11:07 am : link
Probably more in the public relations or player relations role, maybe similar to when Charles Way was Director of Player Development. Not that it would be a bad thing for him to watch film with Jones every now and again, I just don't see him committing to it in a coaching capacity (that's a seven days a week job).

Bingo. And the funny thing is - Eli would probably do an excellent job. He was one of the most prepared players on the team throughout his career. He doesn't seem to be a guy that would half-ass something.

This sort of rational post backed up by facts doesn’t compute for the Eli haters
I would love it
River Mike : 1/17/2021 11:51 am : link
I genuinely like Eli and he was a great Giant and an asset to the organization in more ways than his play on the field. I never hesitated to criticize his play when I felt it was warranted, and there were times here when any criticism of him was denounced in no uncertain terms. With all that said, I am a huge fan, and the more I see of him associated with the Giants, the better.
Great
rocco8112 : 1/17/2021 11:59 am : link
Eli is in my NY Sports Hall of Fame for sure. He was the best and a I would not be surprised to go my whole sports watching life with the Giants obtaining a better franchise QB.

As more time goes by it will become clearer how great Eli was for the NYG
Would be great to at least have Eli come back
Simms11 : 1/17/2021 12:02 pm : link
as an honorary coach during OTAs and Training Camp, if held. Much like Armstead has helped out. Charles Way was working on community outreach or something like that, but I think just having him come back to work with the QBs would be outstanding.
Whatever Eli can do to help the development of Daniel Jones
chick310 : 1/17/2021 12:29 pm : link
would be welcomed. Far less the athlete, Eli made up for that and some other flaws with endless preparation, timing his progressions, and the ability to read defenses pretty damn well pre and post snap.

Jones could certainly use help with some of this, and you just know Eli would be a guy to do it with the just the right temperament.
I don’t think the Giants
Giant John : 1/17/2021 12:36 pm : link
Would throw him into the fire to begin with. To the naysayers Eli is good for the Giants and the NFL.

How in the hell is a 16 year starting QB and multiple super bowl MVP winner not a “real football person”? Might be the dumbest comment I’ve read on here and that is hard to do.

I don’t post here much, but man, you are a rock pile. Manning’s been nothing but class for his entire career. Quarterbacked two of the most memorable Super Bowl wins in Giants history. He can do whatever job he wants around here.

Where is your opinion coming from? The Giants don't have a lot of former players in their front office, but those who have been have done a nice job (Charles Way, Armstead come immediately to mind). Eli was regarded around the entire league as one of the smartest players. So, if they think he could be of value in the front office, I'll accept that. If Judge thinks he could be of value on his staff in a temporary or permanent role, I'll accept that.
