taste in music, so I barely paid attention. Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen are more in line with my tastes and I thought they were excellent performances.
I loved it when 'In Living Color' did their own halftime show. Genius idea, and I'm surprised no one else has done something similar. (or if they have I'm not aware of it!)
I used to hate them but using that time to get food/drink, hang out with whoever I'm watching the game with etc allows me to not care one way or the other.
If there is no company for the game and you've made some tasty margheritas or other female-friendly libation it's also a great time for some conjugal amusements.
I'm generally not a fan of the performers or music, but neither are they intolerable and they are quite a spectacle. I don't regularly watch, but occasionally one catches my attention ... after I've peed
I just have no interested in the pop tarts and rap. When the spectacle and stage show means so much more than the actual music being performed, I just lost interest.
Damn. That was last February. Feels like that Super Bowl was February 1920.
I rarely ever watch halftime shows. Last one I watched was that terrible one with the Black Eyed Peas and they had all those terrible dud surprises join their set. All washed up guys.
Now that I think of it, that was the last time I saw or heard anything from the Black Eyed Peas. So that was a good half-time show!
or talk about the first half. Halftime shows? Blah. They suck. They try to cater to a very small audience and I guess they successfully do that. But not many people I talk to care for them and that includes different age groups and men and women. I generally enjoy the Super Bowl adds more and that's saying something.
But this year I’m invested. The Weeknd is an amazing performer and artist but I doubt most of this board even knows who he is or will give him a chance.
are designed for a different audience, the mother/daughter combo who are only watching the game for the commercials. The stations now that most men use that time to use the bathroom, cook, or load up another plate of food.
And the Olympics strives for a similar audience, more women than men, with their "human interest" stories.
The half time shows are horrible. I was at the 2004 superbowl and saw Janet Jackson get her top ripped off. From that point forward, the NFL went super conservative with who they hired for half time.
I don’t expect anyone here to know about The Weeknd or give him the credit he deserves. Time to get off your lawns now!
Mt Dizzle....I gotta admit I didn't know who he was. But you struck up my curiosity so I got off my lawnmower. I checked out some of his stuff. He's fantastic and I'm a Giants fan since the mid 50's. (so that gives you an idea of my age) If he's the halftime show I may watch it and grab my beer during a commercial before halftime.
Speaking of which, any idea how big FMiC’s poop is? Asking for a friend.
Maybe excepting Prince and The Boss.
Tom Petty and Prince were good.
Other than that, nothing special to remember.
Yea . . . . pretty much.
I also thought that the FCC (or whoever) was making too big of a deal about it. I think a fine was imposed, which I thought was stupid.
(That was the only way I got on to a HS football field, and I was a bad musician at that!)
John Phillip Sousa REIGNS!
Agree on Bruno - my respect for him jumped way up.
GTFO here.
I'm sure people would bet on it!
The thing I hate is that the halftime is much too long.
If there is no company for the game and you've made some tasty margheritas or other female-friendly libation it's also a great time for some conjugal amusements.
Agreed, that was awful and whorish
Was it really bad or something?

Just sits badly with me for that reason.
The mashup / nip slip
Bruno Mars
Prince
U2

I did get tossed from the Bada Bing (Satin Dolls) later that night as well.....
Springsteen was solid.
But have never really unless it was music I listen to...

We had to watch multiple years of Up With People.
