As much as this isn’t going to sit well with BBI knick fans I feel dealing Randle ASAP before his value tanks
Getting Obi into starting lineup along with IQ is key
Robinson
Obi
Knox
RJ
IQ
Have Rivers Burke Noel coming off Bench
Further. I may be dreaming but hopefully Leon can work a deal to get Beal
Why are you assuming that an excellent player right now is going to regress? Why? Here’s the facts about Randle.
— he’s always been a talent
— he’s always been a productive scorer
— always been a productive rebounder
— always had the ability to bring the ball up
— always has the ability to pass
— never played for a good HC in the nba
If every GM dealt players away out of a fear that the player was going to regress, we’d have one weird league.
We finally might have stepped in shit and fans want to get rid of the guy. Unbelievable.
Because a high first rounder is more valuable than giving this guy a huge contract and keeping Obi out of lineup
Oh is it now? Can you guarantee that? Nope.
Also, why can’t we have two good forwards here in obi and Randle? This is of course predicated on the assumption that Obi is in fact a good player one day and not another Kenny sky walker....

I would argue that because we cant guard true 3s with either let alone both those guys on the floor.
They both bring different elements I guess, but both are below avg on D. Randle (Julius) is better as of now, but Obi is not evaluated as of yet, but projected to be poor
seems much more comfortable post injury. Probably not surprising as he's getting more accustomed to the speed of everything. His defense looks not bad too.
If we had a player like Tatum everyone out there is better. Kids played well. Great game. Why not all the time. How about IQ with 8 assists also in 20 min.
If it brought back a blue chip prospect? I’m talking stud prospect not the 7th pick in a 4 player draft, yeah I’d have to consider it.
You ain’t getting that kind of draft pick back for Randle because no team picking 1-2-3 is looking for a player like Randle.
So the next discussion is, what do you consider a "stud prospect"? Because the last 3 years, Randle is averaging over 20 pts per game, 9 boards and 3 assists (almost 7 this year). That is better than Zach Randolph who was a big part of two perennial playoff teams in Portland and Memphis. He also is a slightly better defender. Lets also mention that JR has missed no more than 9 games in a season since he started playing.
Right now, would you trade Randle for say, LaMelo Ball? Because I wouldnt. I would trade him and a 1st for Jayson Tatum.
was the favorite to be #1 overall before he went to Kentucky. Did he ever possess any kind of offensive skill or was he always a Thabeet-like player?
He was like Camby at UMass. Camby didnt really develop his shot until he got to NYK. But Noel doesnt run as well as Camby did. Camby in transition was something to watch.
Really nice win today. If you are advocating trading Randle than you haven’t watched the Knicks this season. He’s been great all season long and deserves a ton of credit for making a major leap from last year. He will probably fall off but he’s played at an all nba level this year.
Just for arguments sake what are you looking for in a return for dealing Randle?

I dont see him falling off, its not like he is shooting crazy numbers from 3, the assists might fall a little bit but i dont think the scoring will..
and with Obi back hopefully Randles minutes start to come down
To start Q and play him 25-30 minutes a game, get Burks healthy and play Toppin with Q rather than Payton. And then hope Julius can continue this play.
But even if they play .400, as long as the young guys are progressing, and adding another lottery pick, the Knicks might be on to so something.
Toppin, Q, RJ, Robinson is their young core and the average age is 21 1/4.
and drop to 6-6 on the year. Every little bit helps.
They're not that good. Doncic has to carry them every night for them to have a chance. 36-16-15 tonight and they still got blown out by the Bulls.
Looking at the box score, their roster is absolute trash. KP is back but went 0-7 from 3. If anything were. To happen to Doncic this season, that pick will become a very good asset
Barrett sucks. He has no handle, no finishing ability, no shooting ability. Awful.
I’ve been saying the same thing. He literally does nothing great. Not a great shooter, not a great passer, not a great defender. Hopefully that changes but I just don’t see it.
solid pro and not all star. It sucks, but as others have mentioned his lack of an elite skill combined with ehh shooting will keep him from the next level. That said getting to the basket and finishing is a skill and he does that really well, its not an easy thing to do in the nba. I know he doesnt do it with highlight reel dunks so you dont say "whoa look at the athleticism" but he still does it. He can 100% be a starter on a contender, but he just isnt going to be your lead or second guy.
im prolly still taking him. Maybe im taking deandre hunter, but thats it. People will point out herro and thats fine, but i guarantee you that Herro doesnt look like this if he gets drafted by the Knicks. If anything he looks more like this year Herro where he has been asked to do more as the Heat have been missing guys left and right, and this year Herro has numbers pretty close to RJ's.
but he can carve out a really nice career for himself if he can continue to improve on defense. He has the size and body to do some damage defensively, although I don't know about his lateral quickness to say he can be a great defender.
He greatly improved his free throw shooting and it's possible he may develop other areas of his game over the next few years.
That would be great. Anything is possible. The odds of a 20% 3 pt shooter becoming a 40% 3 pt shooter are slim. If they can package him for an established scorer (Beal, Lavine) you make that move without hesitation.

hahaha all good. I managed to completely block Reuben Randle out of my mind which is probably for the best.

So Rueben Randle is not Reuben Randle? Lol
Lol I swear NBA officials make shit up as the go along. Tim Donaghy was no outlier.

He went 19-10-3 today. Slow down on writing the RJB nba career book please.

We’re on the same page. We got lucky with Randle. Maybe it wasn’t luck. The guy always had hard to teach nba talents. I’m not giving that away.

They really didnt do much because they were saving up for Giannis and then Giannis resigned

I think he'll be a solid pro and nothing close to being worth a 3 overall.
It's fine. The NBA is full of top 10 pick guys who never came close to justifying it. Look at Noel. It's just how the league works. Barrett's useful.
He greatly improved his free throw shooting and it's possible he may develop other areas of his game over the next few years.
