Wasn't pretty but an early game on a back to back. I'll take it.

This was a little 90s-esque Knicks type win. Played really ugly at times, but solid defense and made just enough plays in the last 5 minutes to pull it out
Barrett has moments that make you want to throw the remote, but he also made big plays in this one.
This has been brought up before, but one of the biggest positive coaching effects so far this year is Mitch doesn't get into foul trouble anymore. Having him out there for his defense down the stretch was big.
7-8 after 15 games aint bad, for a team still short on talent like this squad. 2-0 this weekend was big.

Yeah, I think most fans would have taken 7-8 to start the season. Plus they probably would have won a couple more of those had Burks not been out. It will help a lot when he gets back.
Barrett good gsme so much better going downhill, good defense at the end
That was what I like to see from Barrett. Get to the hoop, better looks will come. When he goes strong guys usually have to foul him to stop him from scoring. I really wanna see him slashing much much more like at the end of the game today.

I think aot of fans are made right now because they would rather tank, thats ehy people want to trade randle
gives you a chance at getting lucky, and pushes the opportunity to sign a max FA out another year. If you don't get lucky in the lottery you're screwed.
I think aot of fans are made right now because they would rather tank, thats ehy people want to trade randle
It's not clear Randle is part of the team's future — but the way he's playing now, he might be.
If Knicks fans should have learned anything, it's that tanking doesn't guarantee you the first pick or even the draft position you "earned." It's more important to draft well than to draft early. Quickley wasn't a lottery pick. Robinson was a 2nd-rounder. Knox and Frank, who were lottery picks, look like role players, though I still think they both have some upside.
Yeah, I'm not sweating the lottery too much anymore.
We have two firsts and Detroit's second rounder (likely pick #31), not to mention Charlotte's second rounder. Plenty of opportunities to find Quickleys and Robinsons, or trade up, or trade for a vet. We're in decent shape in terms of assets.

Having a high pick is no guarantee, and you can find good players later in the draft. But you’re a lot more likely to find one early than late. And the overwhelming majority of the really great players, the guys you NEED to win a championship, we’re drafted within the first few picks.
If we make the playoffs it a great season and we got to witness winning basketball.
If we don't we are in a position for one of the deepest drafts in a while.
Either way, let's hope Dallas doesn't make the playoffs.
2 lottery picks this year would be a huge win.
news, kinda wild that Okongwu can't get off the bench for the Hawks. Capela is a good player but you're telling Okongwu, the top 10 pick, can't get 15 minutes of run?
but are other NBA games more fun to watch or you are more into other NBA games when the Kbicks are competitive?
I honestly hate the NBA and what its become. But I love basketball. I love playing pick up, figuring out my role (usually a pass first poinz who gets in good position for boards and plays good stop the ball D...so everybody likes playing with me, lol) learning off of other players' styles and adjusting on the fly, the camaraderie after a cpuple hours playing with strangers. The NBA of today takes all of that out of the game. Every good player is worried about themselves and their numbers. I miss the warrior mentality in the NBA. I miss that there were once guys that played the game selflessly and to fucking WIN.
But I guess I have to take what I can get, and this Knicks team is playing that way. I would love to see It takes quite a bit for me to watch another game bevause of that. It has to either be a really great match-up between teams that hate each other or a game where I really want someone to lose (basically LeBron, lol).
And a huge clutch defensive play causing that turnover followed by great job pushing the ball and finishing at the rim in the final minute. That's a winning basketball play. He's really becoming a solid all around player. Since the abysmal Charlotte game he's been good.
Quickley's floater game is so good. And he's got a great feel in the PnR. He's been really good. Compare him yesterday to Cole Anthony, picked way ahead of him. Oof. Quickley will be the starter soon, I think. It's painful to watch Payton but I do think that they're letting IQ grow into it.
After pouring in 22 points (on 9-for-19 shooting) and adding 10 rebounds and four assists against Orlando, he’s averaging 20.2 points and 7.5 rebounds his past four games, shooting 49 percent from the floor. His numbers are up across the board, and the one that really stands out is at the free-throw line. He was 4-for-4 Monday, upping his percentage to 75.3, and that’s way up from the 61.4 percent he shot a year ago.
Some are obsessed over his 3pt%. He's 20. He's doing just fine in year 2.
that RJB isn't a flashy athletic 2 who lights up the game like a posterizing Morant can, we will appreciate his game. He's a 3. He's more a tough scoring player than a flashy athletic, high flying type. He rebounds and defends. And he can dish. And if his 3% shooting ever comes around he's an elite scorer. As is he's pretty good already.
I just love watching the Knicks this season and for that I am grateful. Even during the losing streak I never felt like the season was slipping away to 60 loss (over 82) territory.
Need another PG as Payton is not a viable starter but I give him credit for playing OK ball most nights.
Thibs is a blessing. I don't care about subs and minutes and all that stuff, I appreicate him for getting every ounce out of these players. Don't fuck with him. Let him coach. Get him players. The Knicks will win. Simple as that.
It's gonna take more than a few decent games to prove that.
Thx captain obvious. He's still playing better in year 2 no matter what you and others might say.
And even if his shooting $ is about the same as last year, if you watch game after game you can see he's having a bigger impact on winning games this year over last year.
ill say it again, RJB is already a solid defender. That means a lot. More than his 3 ball % in my view. I'd rather have a SF that defends and does the little things than a guy that shoots 37% from 3 land and won't defend.
I am in no way saying we struck gold with RJB, what I am saying is anyone who says we struck coal is speaking prematurely.

Cogent points. He also improved his FT% and his form looks good even though the 3 isn't falling for him just yet. A lot to like and maybe year 3 will be the year it all comes together.
He has a very nice stroke that he hasn't learned to control with any consistency--he short-arms it a lot. But, he is a gym rat, and will learn how to use the stroke consistently.
With his elite strength at that age, I cannot imagine that he won't learn to shoot the three at a very high level. If he does, his dashes to the basket will open up and he will be an near-elite scorer. Getting to the point where Quickly or a similar PG is starting will also open up his game in the key, considerably. The kid defends, rebounds, handles the ball, and will become a near-elite scorer. Nothing to complain about, except that he isn't as good as the two players picked before him. Contrast Knox's shooting at 21 from the way it was last year at 20. Why wouldn't Barrett get that good?

you really "cannot imagine" he doesn't become a great shooter? There's taking a glass half full approach but this take is next level.
He doesn't need to be a great shooter to be a very good NBA player, just a credible 3pt shooter is enough. If he can do that, he'll command enough space where his ability to attack off the dribble and pass will make him a tough player to guard.
He's shown much better FT% so far this year so there's a trend in the right direction. I'm still very optimistic about him becoming an average 3pt shooter, too.
RJ becoming an all-star caliber player unless he develops an above average 3 pt shot. Aside from freaks like Dwayne Wade, pre-injury Derrick Rose and maybe a handful of others...the outside shot is key.
could become very good from midrange and average at the 3 point line, i think he is going to make a living in the midrange and at the rim..Hitting 1 or 2 3s a gmae
that 5 game losing streak, Knicks sitting 6th in the east. Not only in the playoff hunt but out of the play-in range.
with burks back wednesday
Burks is actually a pretty big addition to this line up as he is an excellent complementary scorer. He will also alleviate some of the heavy minutes put on the front line starters.

let's just see where RJB is down the road. He's playing better ball than he did last year. He was the reason why the Knicks won yesterday. One game under 500.
I don't even love his game or the player, but he can't even drink yet. He's doing just fine. If he wasn't better than last year I'd be a little nervous. Thibs is getting the most out of these kids, that's why I am encouraged.
Randle bad shooting night but 21 and 18 1 assist 5 of 19..

Pre-ACL Porzingod had a career high 38 in the second of the two wins.
The rest of the NYK starting five: THJ Jr, Kanter, 34 yo Jarrett Jack and 32 yo Courtney Lee.
Shocker that group didn't turn into anything.

Was following the play-by-play and wondering about Luka being so quiet (4-10 in 34 minutes).
Comment on Mavs board is that the Raptors doubled-teamed him all night and dared rest of team to beat them 4 on 3.
Which they couldn't, evidently.
It's going to be "why trade youth for him when you can sign him in the offseason" pt. 2.

Almost certainly wouldn't give up RJ either way, but especially without an extension first.
Knox, Frank, Burks or something like that. Rockets are going to lose him for nothing either way.
