NFT: Moonlighting

Route 9 : 1/18/2021 4:03 pm
Anyone got any stories that they'd like to share? I always worked a second job to pay for Giants tickets and other travel expenses. I was motivated to get other jobs to meet new people, gain experience, and blah blah. Hell, I was in one of the weddings for someone I met from one of these jobs.

Since COVID-19, I just dropped the other job and also idea of another job since fun is basically a felony and well, everything is shut down. Probably got enough from the stimulus package if they ever want to open up anything this side of Ohio.

I almost got caught because I told a story about a job I had and the coworker said "was that when you were here? because we have a strict policy about moonlighting! You must report it"

I have never lied in my life but I just fibbed and said this was years ago. I'm 30 whatever years old and thought what is it their business what I do on my own time?

Anyone ever get caught being naughty on the side? If so. How?

in the mortgage industry. Did it for a while and in that process, started a website to support it.

The ability to juggle both became too much so I set the mortgage thing aside other than just maintaining the website.

Now, that website plus my second mortgage website are fairly well known for their niche. The income from the two of them has surpassed that of my full time job. The best part about this is I am not afraid of losing my full time job anymore.

This is NOT how I expected that post to end...
I think everyone should have a little side hustle going on

Route 9. Are you an air traffic controller at Albany Airport?

If you are, then I really can't agree with you about "...we have a strict policy about moonlighting! You must report it" ..."what is it their business what I do on my own time?" ;-)

Yes.
Sounds like Route 9 has some extra cash for us.

I have a rental property which I operate as an LLC. I also play about 40 gigs a year in various cover bands. Between the 2 it can feel like full time work.

It gets dicey at times, but I'm careful to not let these interfere with my full time job.

I loved that show. I think it was Willis' first major role. Not so much a tough guy; just a wise guy.
Moonlighting produced some classic episodes.

Here’s my favorite. I’m a sucker for noir tropes.

IIRC, (it was a very long time ago), they did one of the first takeoffs on a musical in a regular show.
I have my first moonlighting gig

The company I work for is selling a service my team built to a third party. The third party asked me to help them in the transition and with their plans to extend the service in the future. I don't particularly care for it but I wanted the service we made to be successful in its new home. And we have 3 kids in college.

I did it all above board and got approval from senior management to work as a paid consultant. The extra cash is really nice but I am working a lot more.

Great Al Jarreau theme song too.

Sandahl Bergman of Conan fame doing the Cyd Charisse thing.

It’s good, but for me, nothing beats Shepherd getting her Rita Hayworth on with “Told Ya I Love Ya, Now Get Out.”
