The trade for Musgrove is pending medical reviews, per sources, and will be sending a large package of prospects back to the Pirates. Hudson Head, a well-regarded center fielder, is expected to be among the group heading to Pittsburgh.

Hudson Head is a pretty intriguing prospect who could go a lot of different ways but has a top-100 case. Pretty good return for 2 years of Musgrove- Pirates probably couldn't have gotten more if they waited until deadline or next winter to move him.
Considering Hudson Head appears to be the headliner it looks like quantity over quality
Head was a HUGE HS prospect. He signed for 3 million. Most ever given to a 3rd rounder.
Not a knock on Head. Still not a top 5 Padres prospect. They have gotten Snell, Darvish, and Musgrove while giving up 1 top 5 guy (Patino) unless I am missing someone. Quite an offseason from the Padres. Maybe the Musgrove deal leads credence to the theory they are worried about Lamet. Otherwise looks like overkill.
If he is your #4-5 starter, you've got a hell of a staff. Just needs to keep the walks in check and in that ballpark his HR should go down slightly. Stuff is there for him.
