Man this stuff is good. He always posts highlights from past seasons that are relevant to the games being played now. This week he's showing the '86 and '90 NFC Championship games. This was before my time, but my god were the fans different back then. The game against Washington was absolutely insane with fans and players going nuts. The Washington QB had to be helped off the field at the end. I'm jealous for those who got to experience those games live.

I thoroughly enjoyed the back and forth we had a few weeks ago with an old Giants VHS tape called "Giants Forever"

Which I eventually found on youtube the other day after a search for it.

Those Summerall intros are amazing. I was born in '87 so missed the glory days, but these videos give me a taste of what it was like. The teams had such swagger, as did the fans.

and I watched the 1990 Superbowl VHS and Giants Forever often when I was a child.

Like every day after school from about 3rd grade till 5th grade. Some lean years those mid 90s teams.
Went to both 49ers and Redskins playoff games in 86 as a 14 year old

Greatest sporting events I have even attended. 3rd row, 15 yard line, giants sideline still give me chills.
I was at the 86

Championship game. Cold & very windy Simms & Dee & crowd was amazing. People were popping champagne 🍾 Id never thought I’d say these words The Giants R Going to the Super Bowl. Amazing day & night.

Did not get to go to those unfortunately. Even more unfortunate was that I went to the Giants-49ers game two years later when Jerry Rice atoned for his catch and fumble early in the 86 playoff game by catching a last minute 78 yard bomb from Montana and taking it to the house to send us to a loss when we seemingly had won the game just moments earlier on a TD pass from Simms to Manuel.

was the coming of age for many of us. While I still look forward to the games and so badly want them to be good again, nothing will ever rival those years. The team was so bad, for so long, many of us never believed they would be good - EVER. And because of that, everything about that time was awesome as they gained momentum from year to year. For all of the younger fans on this site, you will never understand the impact of LT and what it was like to be in the stadium during his heyday. Every game became an "event" not to be missed. Add to that the simultaneous emergence of Madden and Summerall and how they called the games, the battles with the Eagles and Redskins, the way you could actually hit. Nothing in todays game can compare. Magical.
Yep great stuff, Matt.

Matt- best twitter account out there. My buddies and I have a group chat that is primarily reliving giant games by sharing your twitter links. Thanks for all the hard work!
Glad all you guys like it

One of the off-shoots of the pandemic is that working remote I have access to all my Giants games/highlights and the ability to post it during the day. So I started cutting them up and posting them and it's caught on. I love it when the players in the highlights give their perspectives of what happened. If you could have told me as a kid in the 1980s that I'd be able to go back and forth with Phil Simms, Carl Banks, Leonard Marshall, Mark Collins etc my head would explode.
Matt. Awesome.

Do you have the old "Giants Among Men" VHS about the 86 team? I remember we had that in our collection growing up and I used to watch that from time to time. I was only 3 years old in 86 so that was a little before my fandom lol.

Of course, I actually have 2 versions of it (where they say the Mets beat the Astros to win the World Series by accident). I'm going to post some NFL films stuff in the offseason to change it up.
One of best part of day is checking out what has been posted

Great to see the old stuff and that you show some interviews not only highlights. Ditka and Parcels taking a steamer together, priceless.

There are two versions? I had the one with the mistake.

And watching the 1990 clips
Go Terps : 1/20/2021 6:17 pm : link
How is it that in 1990 CBS had a fraction of the resources it has today, but the coverage and presentation then was better by several orders of magnitude?

Why did they ever get away from that yellow font?

From a quality of play and quality of presentation perspective, the 1990 NFCC is the peak of the NFL experience. Incredible.

I blame fox. They shined everything up in the 90s and added so much noise and filler and robots and redundant, loud talkies. All these networks now just over produce the shit out of these broadcasts. And that philosophy trickles down to the broadcasters themselves who apparently get paid by the exclamatory word or phrase. Every fricking play turns into a referendum on that player's career.
