On Twitter, Tom Brady posted about how Richard Seymour deserved to be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.
Seymour then retweeted Brady's comments thanking him and wishing him the best in his attempt to win a 7th Superbowl. Then he followed up with this comment from that same post...
if I wasn't held by 2/3 guys on the helmet catch this would be #8 @elimanning (he added a couple of smiley faces) |
Following that, there were a lot of comments from sore Patriots fans about that hold and losing to the Giants twice.
Love how all these years later, those Giants Superbowl victories still stings those players and fanbase.
Don't talk to Giants fans about penalties not being called in key games.
I'd argue back about how much Strahan got held, but instead let's just laugh at them and enjoy having 2 over the Patriots for all eternity
Bullshit!
unless he's talking about the play where he missed the interception

Then they get another set of downs at a critical point wiht the rediculous, never called 12 man penalty because we didn't get one guy across the sideline in time. It wAS not as if we lined up with 12 men.
Moreover, I think the helmet catch came on third down. So we had one more shot and Eli in those days was money in the bank during clutch times.
The Giants sac'd Brady something like six times and knocked him down another six times or so. How you can bellyache when you can't protect your QB is beyond me.
Yes, I think there only "convincing" win was over the Rams.
Too be fair, it's not Brady saying this. He's been nothing but complimentary over the years to the Giants for beating them, even those losses, especially SB 42, will always burn. He's also shown Eli a lot of respect on social media for it.
I didn't know that. I have cousins from New Hampshire who are legit Patriots fans going back to the '70s, '80s. A lot of them were nervous going into XLII because of how much of a game we gave them in Week 17.
Seattle just gave it to them. The single dumbest play call i have ever seen. Nobody on NE wanted to go near Lynch. Hand him the ball and the the game is over.
Bullshit!
You're thinking of Harrison, and it still bugs the crap out of me seeing him trying to rip it out of Tyree's hands well after he was down by contact and clearly established that he made the catch and had the ball.

Not really, luck went both ways. Couple of loose balls went the way of the NY Giants and could have affected the outcome as well.
Seymour's silly excuse didn't need to be said, and neither did this one. No need to re-write history, the Giants won fairly.

Almost every one of their titles was one or two plays away from them losing more SBs

Disagree. Thought the one against the Eagles was the most convincing. Reid really screwed the pooch with regards to game clock in that 4th quarter
And I'm still never sure what having that terrible take is meant to illustrate
Correct, yup. Donovan really screwed the pooch on that one too. I think Owens came out and said he (McNabb) was drinking the night before the game?
Giants Defense ruled the day.
And I'm still never sure what having that terrible take is meant to illustrate
So why bother bringing it up.

Hmm. Good point. I'll remember to use that on the 209th iteration of you discussing the Leonard Williams trade.
I'm still laughing at the irony of you trying to out a dupe on the weekend game thread. And you didn't even get it right! But a dozen mentions of dep sure was hilarious.....
holy shit I don't believe it.
Obviously the ending to that game was perfect, but if I were a Pats player and that game is what stood between me/my team and sports immortality I'd never get over it either.

Why even bother with Googs? He is a headache, a coward and a moron, but engaging him doesnt help. Im trying a new approach.
Hating everybody, everyday.

And you are a ray of sunshine? You are a previously banned poster who rejoined just to continue to be a shitbag. And yet you tell everyone else how they should post.
Chucklehead to the max

Seth, Yup. I decided last week to never engage him again

Dude, that 12 men on the field penalty is going to get called every single time. There is no "it didn't affect the play" or "no harm, no foul" modifier and it never gets ignored. When has 12 men on the field ever been ignored?
I was at the game and I could tell from the upper deck that the Giants 12th player didn't get off the field in time and they were going to get flagged.

Yea man. Guys like Googs dont do well in person. He is just unique because he doesnt do well here either.
I hope you are well Doctor Tater Tots! Lol. I hope you are still crushing hikes and green tea. Persinally, Ive moved off Numi but have a cheaper moxture that I ice and its glorious.
Best always.
And it was evident from the very first Giants' drive, and by the look on Brady's face for much of the game.
Which makes Brady throw some live Eli's way, every now and then.
In either instance, I'm going to continue to regard it as a "cheap" call. And the circumstances matter, we'd just held them to three and out; I regarded that in real time as a momentum changer. It was very deflating for the defense to trot back out after the emotion of thinking they'd held. Deflating and tiring and while they did in fact hold, the Pats scored on the next possession (they only td they were goiing to put up since the opening of the game ) and I - incorrectly or not - will always blame that score on the 12 man penalty.
So, and this is just my opinion I'm not trying to foster it on anyone else, these were two huge breaks for The Pats because they were momentum changers.
Just look at how well they handled the Seahawks in the SB with less overall talent on the offensive side of the ball. The Hawks would have handled that 2007 Patriots offense probably better than the 2014 offense.
Also, the GOAT coach thought it was a great idea treating week 17 like the Super Bowl. The Giants took everything available, including film from that game, to win SB 42.
Not saying they would have definitely lost, as the game would have been different. But I don't think the Patriots did themselves favors playing the Giants tough that game.
Play starters a quarter or two, vanilla game plan, then go backups. Would have definitely lost, but nobody would have acted like it was a real win for the Giants.
The Giants were better IMO in 2011, so the Patriots played better than expected making it a close game. If Welker makes that catch, it gets dicey.
Yeah. Overrated. Lol.
Yep. They beat the Bills 56-10 to go 10-0. At that point they were averaging 41 ppg, winning their games by an AVERAGE of 3 TDs. After that? 3 point win over the Eagles, 3 point win over the Ravens (who stunk that year), 10 point win over the Jets, 3 point win over the Giants. They did blow out the Steelers and the Dolphins, but they weren't the juggernaut they had been early in the season. Their first two playoff games were closer than I remembered, too - the Jags were tied at the half and down only 21-17 late in the third, the Chargers were only down 2 headed into the fourth. They had chances but just couldn't get into the end zone - kicked FGs from 26, 23, and 24 yards.
Last 8 games of the 2007 season: 8-0
I guess they did a decent job with winning their fair share of games in the second half comapred to the first half of the season.
