NGT: Top 10 QB's never to win a Super Bowl (NFL.com)

FranknWeezer : 1/20/2021 12:49 pm
10. Jim Everett
9. Michael Vick
8. Steve McNair
7. Dan Fouts
6. Warren Moon
5. Philip Rivers
4. Fran Tarkenton
3. Randall Cunningham
2. Jim Kelly
1. Dan Marino

Pretty decent list there, IMO. Heavy on the 80's-90's. Some others who came to mind are Archie Manning, Kerry Collins, Tony Romo, Boomer Esiason, Vinny Testaverde, Rich Gannon and Jeff Garcia. Not giving McNabb the nod, though.

Any others worth listing?

as someone who hates McNabb
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 1/20/2021 12:56 pm : link
he deserves to be on that list. He was certainly better than Everett, he was better than Vick (although Vick's peak was ridiculous), and McNair vs. McNabb is a tough one.

I was going over Randall Cunningham's career the other day and he really was a unique and great player, but I don't think he had a better career than Rivers.
Vick??

Better Qbs than Chris Everett that never won. Don't get that one.
just off the top of my head
Greg from LI : 1/20/2021 1:03 pm : link
Dave Krieg and Carson Palmer were better than Everett. Everett had maybe three big seasons for the Rams and was mediocre other than that.
Kenny Anderson could be on that list, too

Agreed. Like others said McNabb is an obvious omission. He was a total dickhead but the guy was 9-7 in the playoffs.
Vick?
Saquads26 : 1/20/2021 1:17 pm : link
🤣
Everett and Vick...no
Thegratefulhead : 1/20/2021 1:23 pm : link
Ken Anderson. Bert Jones. Archie Manning

Sonny Jurgensen...Jim Hart
Cunningham ahead of Tarkenton?

Tark’s in the HOF. RC will never sniff that

Maybe that's what it was.

Because I remember during that timespan he, Flipper, Ellard, were very good.

I almost listed Hart. He could play.
Boomer Esiason could be on that list too
mfsd : 1/20/2021 2:13 pm : link
I think since his time with the Jets didn't turn out great and he annoys a lot of people via his media roles, people tend to forget how good he was in his prime in Cincy.

4 time Pro-Bowler, league MVP in 88, and would have won a ring had Montana not pulled off his legendary SB winning drive
Jim Everett and Michael Vick
LBH15 : 1/20/2021 2:37 pm : link
probably shouldn't even make the top 25.

The rest of the guys are fine.
Fours should be 2 or 3

Fouts was better than

Cunningham.

Well, Jim Kelly wasn't for want of trying.

How about the top ten QB's never to appear in a Super Bowl?

Fouts, Moon, and Jurgensen are likely high up there.
How the hell is Romo not on there?
Zeke's Alibi : 1/20/2021 4:31 pm : link
Guy had years where he was an absolute wizard.
I think some of you are looking at how close guys
widmerseyebrow : 1/20/2021 4:47 pm : link
got to actually winning a Super Bowl instead of how good they were as quarterbacks over their careers (team vs. individual). By the former measure you would rank McNabb higher, but purely as a quarterback/passer he wasn't as impressive. I'd rank someone like Romo higher than him.
_________
I am Ninja : 1/20/2021 5:18 pm : link
Romo was better than at least a few of them.
Vick?
redwhiteandbigblue : 1/20/2021 5:34 pm : link
Was that sarcasm? I hope so!
I watched Archie Manning play a good amount.
Giant John : 1/20/2021 6:33 pm : link
He was a very talented player. On a good/decent team he would have been one of the best. Oh BTW he took a lot of hits. No question where Eli picked up his durability. Then I was lucky enough to meet him. A little taller that me but body style was the same. I don’t know how he took the shots he took. I say that because I know what they felt like. Tough guy.

Romo would probably have a couple of rings if the Cowboys were in the AFC East instead of the Patriots.
Am I the only one who thinks Moon is underrated on that list?
DCGMan : 1/20/2021 7:05 pm : link
I didn’t get to watch Fouts and Tarketon play but I would put him over Rivers and Cunningham.
Bledsoe
Chocco : 1/20/2021 7:05 pm : link
He has a ring, but I don't think anyone would say that he won a superbowl.
Terrible List
weeg in the bronx : 1/20/2021 7:45 pm : link
Cunningham is way to high. Fran Moon Fouts are all HOF players. McNabb should be on the list ahead of him as well. Matt Ryan? McNair should not be on the list

RE: Boomer Esiason could be on that list too

Very good call. For his era, Esiason had four or five terrific years in Cincinnati.

I might throw Bernie Kosar into the mix. Browns had some unbelievable losses in the AFC playoffs to Elway and the Broncos.
Vick was not that great
eric2425ny : 1/20/2021 9:43 pm : link
Doesn’t deserve to be in the top 20, let alone 10. I have no issue with Cunningham being in the top 10, that guy would be a force in today’s league. He was Lamar Jackson with accuracy. That guy could sling a ball 50 yards downfield while on the run.
Interesting debate. Some thoughts with a grain of salt...
Pete in CO : 1/20/2021 10:11 pm : link
Cunningham, Vick and Everett not in top 10.
Add Esiason.
Add Luck (not sure-short career)
Add Archie Manning.
My top 10:
Marino-Kelly-Rivers
Moon-Tarkenton-Fouts
McNabb-Esiason-Luck- A.Manning

Yep, I would put him somewhere 2-4.
Dan Fouts Was One of the Best
OntheRoad : 1/20/2021 11:34 pm : link
despite the fact that he never had a running game or a defense.
I'd have Fouts and Moon in the top 4,
Matt M. : 1/20/2021 11:36 pm : link
Everett off the list completely and probably Vick. McNabb should be on the list.
I don't think he belongs on the top 10, but Boomer
Matt M. : 1/20/2021 11:37 pm : link
certainly; belongs ahead of Vick and Everett by a long margin.

Ryan not being on there is understandable as he’s still active. Don’t see hun winning a SB though.
Fouts should be much higher
Tuckrule : 1/21/2021 6:31 am : link
Mcnabb 100 percent should be on that list. One of the best qbs of the 2000s

Carson Palmer as others said should definitely be on the list.
.
Gruber : 1/21/2021 9:26 am : link
I'm looking at the record for most touchdown passes in a season. In about the top 35, Marino is the only passer from before 1995 with the exception of George Blander who is way down the list. Marino threw 48 and 44 and it took 20 years for someone to better his record. Phenomenal!
A few other..
FatMan in Charlotte : 1/21/2021 9:28 am : link
guys I'd give consideration to - old-timers:

Ron Jaworski
Jim Hart
Steve Bartkowski
Joe Ferguson
Bernie Kosar

Frankly, if Jim Everett makes the list, how about Andy Dalton or Carson Palmer?
How about Jim Kelly?
GGGGmen : 1/21/2021 11:56 am : link
