Awhile back I posted that there was a possibility of OBJ being released, but that was before I double-checked and found that his 2021 was guaranteed for injury (and he's injured) so if they don't want him back, there only option is to trade him and the $15.75M he is due this year, and I'd be surprised if they can pull that off.
OBJ was a meteor...
I can only imagine being that age, with that much access to things and no rules or limits.
That catch basically ruined his football career.
From OTC...
says the contract is not guaranteed for 2021. So he can be cut and create cap space for Cleveland
can someone explain the guaranteed for injury part? Does that mean if he is injured he is guaranteed the money but if he is healthy and cleared to play then it is not guaranteed?
Coughlin was in preservation mode by that point

Totally agree with you.

Beckham has injury guarantees in 2020 and 2021 which vest on the third day of the respective league year. When we get a full breakdown we will update the salaries, workout bonuses, etc...
According to spotrac, $12.8M of his $14.5M 2021 salary is guaranteed for injury. So they could potentially save roughly $3M if they released him and took the $12.8M. So they need to ask themselves if he's worth $3M to them in 2021 or if they are simply better off without him and the distractions that follow him.
It is guaranteed on the 3rd day of the league year. Which sounds like they can cut him in the first 2 days and it won't be guaranteed.

maybe he was never that much of a "disciplinarian". Exhibit A is Shockey. TC's reputation came from his focus on nonsense like how high players wore their socks.

So now we are just makin up stories about the dude? So now he is a coke head ... WTH?

guy to have a promising career go up his nose. happens in all walks of life. dude clearly got lost in the party scene. it's very easy to do. Anyone who has been down that road can see it.

This is BBI. You should know better by now.

This is BBI where we have strong opinions but few facts.
It'd be pretty funny if the plan all along was in fact to sign him to trade him to trade for him back.

Oh so OBJ's behavior is TC's fault. It is always someone else's fault today right?
Nobody takes ownership for their own actions anymore. OBJ was an adult... get a grip. Why is it that so many other players in the league have their head screwed on properly?

How the so-called disciplinarian Tom Coughlin got soft on OBJ and his antics. If TC puts the hammer down early and often on OBJ's antics he probably has a much better career. He did him a disservice.

Agree, to say TC was soft on him is not even known. OBJ acts like an ass on his own accord.
Made his QB crazy trying to get the ball to him so he'd shut up.
A distraction puts it mildly.
His QB only starts to play well when OBJ is vacant the scene,,, Perhaps coincidental, most likely not.
Can he straighten out and fly right and - if not forge a return to greatness - become a top NFL receiver.? I have no idea, but I've read that he is rehabilitating with Barklay and that makes me feel he has a chance. So maybe the song isn't sung.

He may have got lost in that scene, but I hate the implication that he was doing drugs. And even if he was, who gives a shit? It's not like he was some junky (outside of fame maybe).
There was actually a pretty well reported story about him and Shep being out in the clubs and being offered something, and they both were clearly sober and Shep said I don't do drugs.
Stop demonizing drugs, this clearly wasn't a Johnny Manziel story. Newsflash, lots of these guys party and do drugs, Pat McAfee talks about it all the time. The new age guys not as much, but thats more generational thing.

I think it has more to do with his fractured ankle in 2017. He never returned to his old self after tha.
Ummm, ahhhh, NO!
What you read (on Twitter) was a report that OBJ and Saquon "compared notes" on their ACL injuries and that they plan to get together (in person) at some point during their rehabs.
They are NOT "rehabbing together." If you have evidence to back up yiur mis-statement, please link it.
It's actually a pretty funny image, those two potentially training together. From Saquon's to OBJ's sets on the squat rack, someone would have to remove like 500# of weights each set of reps.
Added Barkley: "But obviously we both wouldn't want to go through this, I guess you would say, but I think it's very important that since we are really close and we know each other so well and we are two competitors and we think we can really help each other, I do think it's important to really link up. But at the same time, we both have to come in with the mindset of getting 1 percent better each day. That's what we have to get from each other. Any way you can get it."
Take what you like from that.
Now you know why you are not an NFL GM. I would not allow you to manage my fantasy football team either.
