Watched that with friends at Dorrians. When the kick went through they dropped the sound and started playing The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony". What a moment.
though I was a nervous wreck the outcome was worth. I nearly lost my voice screaming when Tyner kicked the game winner. However I have so say we should have won that game running away. We outplayed the Pack that night. If a few things went our way (C-Web not falling on Driver's 90 yarder, McQuarter's fumbled INT, Madison's personal foul that extended a Packer drive, not having a healthy Plax) I think we might have blown them out

Not having a healthy Plax? You may be thinking of the SB, Plax abused Al Harris in this game.
invited to a sports bar by a packers fan - there had to be 200 packers fans to 2 giants fans where we went. When the FG went through the other giants fan and I hugged mid air. Absolutely one of the best games I've ever watched in a bar setting if not THE best
My main memory of that game is still this: while Plax indeed abused Al Harris and the Packers (and McCarthy) refused to believe what everyone was seeing plain as day - that Plax was simply much too quick of foot for an overrated and slowing Al Harris - it was Eli who was having a simply unbelievanle game under conditions where, of you peed outside, your pee froze before it hit the ground.
And it became for me a huge part of the legend and aura of Eli Manning. A guy who wasn't much more than a top half of the league passer most of his career, rose to greatness in the darndest moments. Eli was on fire that game and had numerous passes dropped because it was so fucking cold penguins wouldn't have played outside in that weather.
And it didn't affect Eli in the least: neither the cold nor his receivers dropping ball after perfectly thrown ball from him.
It was one of Eli's finest displays of his stone cold killer trait. "Cool as the other side of the pillow" Eli Manning. Waiting to see that side of DJ.
how cold it was that day. Apparently kicking the ball under those sub freezing conditions was like trying to kick a block of cement. So when Tynes mis-struck a kick early in the game, it bruised part of his foot into a huge black and blue welt.
It was quite the mental feat for Tynes to run out there and strike the game winning FG in OT. Fortunately I suppose, the extreme cold numbed the pain significantly.

Great post. Also keep in mind Eli grew up in New Orleans and played collegiate ball in Oxford, MS. I can say from experience we get the rarest of snow days in MS. Still can't fathom how he pushed all of that aside and performed like he did that day. What an incredible game.
RE: RE: RE: Eli has often called this his favorite game

Thanks. Yeah who knows where Eli pulls that out from, in horrid weather. He was on fire again in 2016 at Lambeau, but both OBJ and Shepard screwed the pooch for him dropping likely TD passes. Not everyone is made for the biggest moments; Eli was.
"I'll be watching and it's about time the Giants beat the Packers in one of these"

Slugfest in freezing rain against Buffalo to clinch the playoffs/
Epic attempt to end the undefeated season in prime time.
Handle the Bucs I’m the wild card.
REVENGE against the Cowboys
OT win in all All Time classic championship game in Lambeau
Beat the undefeated greatest team ever with the help of an all time miracle play
You will not find a better six week stretch for any team, ever.
God damned mouth."
That whole play-off run and the SB was nail biting.
.
And eff Mike McCarthy still to this day!

But great game though! Miss those days.

ahead of even the Super Bowls. Good choice.
