Is Kadarius Toney the Tyreek Hill of this draft?

Milton : 1/21/2021 9:10 pm
Not a true #1 receiver, but always a big play waiting to happen and a defensive coordinator's nightmare? The Huddle Report has him at #31 on their board, but he failed to make Great Blue North's Top 100. Similar size/speed to Waddle according to THR. If Giants don't go WR in round one, he could be in play with their 2nd round pick.

p.s.--What if the Giants went the Gators route with Kyle Pitts in round one and Kadarius Toney in round 2? Pitts gives Jones the big target who can catch the ball with defenders hanging on his back and Toney gives him the explosive vertical (and horizontal) speed that will keep safeties playing it safe (no pun intended). Pitts, Toney, Shepard, and Slayton could be a tough foursome for teams to defend.

I know we have needs on defense, but if the Chiefs are the current model for sustainable dominance, they finished their offense before getting serious about their defense. And even then, they still drafted a RB in round one last year (which is something to think about for those who consider it such a fungible position) and a WR in round 2 the year before.
Huddle report is weird in that

in the individual writeups, he is the fourth ranked player in the draft with a grade of 1.42. For reference, Trevor Lawrence and DeVonte Smith are ranked 1.60+.

Join the Toney train! Dude is exciting.
Big fan of him

Hoping for Marshall or him in the 2nd, if they don’t get Chase or Smith in the 1st which I don’t expect. He was a high school QB in Mobile. Excellent athlete. A creative OC could do a lot with him
I need to read more about Pitts as a blocker
chopperhatch : 1/21/2021 10:10 pm : link
and see his measurables to decide on him at 11. If he runs, jumps and 3 cones terrific, fuck it....lets make him a receiver. If he does the above three like a TE, a hard pass unless we can trade Engram. Would rather go defense 1st, WR 2nd and a guy like Tommy Tremble in the 3rd or 4th. I think TT has an NFL future. He blocks people like every down is 4th and goal from the 3 in the Super Bowl.

I feel like the Engram experiment is over. If we can fool a team into trading for him, great, but if not, I think they should just move on. Whether it's a rookie or a free agent, a pass-catching TE or an inline TE, Engram needs to be replaced. Maybe there's a team out there that thinks he earned his Pro Bowl designation.

There are a bunch of prospects I'd be okay with at #11 and Pitts is one of them. And landing Pitts or another offensive player in round one doesn't preclude going offense again in round two. The rules favor offense so the Giants need to put together an offense that can take full advantage of those rules, not an offense that's built for winning in the 70's and 80's. That means an offense that puts up 30+ points more often than not.
Not to be lewd

But Pitts and Toney with the first two picks, and I'm spurting.

Just what the O needs.
Kadarius Toney
rasbutant : 1/21/2021 11:08 pm : link
seems like a Patriots kind of WR.

I love that he breaks a ton of tackles, can be used out of the backfield and is a good blocker. He is a playmaker that needs to be used correctly.

I get the feeling he would be similar to getting Samuel in FA. but i could be wrong.

The list is based on where popular opinion has the player going. The writeup rankings are were he would rank them.
Toney

No offense dude, but you probably spurted at shots of Shannon Doherty from 90210 instead if the real meat like Grabrielle Carteras, Jenny Garth and Tori Spelling (post fantastic boob job of course). Lol (I noticed the typo for Gabrielle and chose not to change it because it delivers btw).

You are looking at two guys who are "maybe can play at the NFL level in Pitts and Toney. Pitts MAYBE better than Engram. Engram looked great coming out of college. Pitts looks like a similar player but playing the wrong position. Toney is worse. MAYBE he is Percy Harvin (Hill is a stretch), or maybe he is John Ross.

Well if we can land the heisman winner

they'll be fountains of joy. I'm going for realistic spurts at this stage...
Waddle???
Tuckrule : 1/22/2021 5:49 am : link
He’ll be there at 11 and will be considered. He’s a yac machine.
Health is the concern
Tuckrule : 1/22/2021 5:51 am : link
If Medical’s check out id highly consider him. Giants brass said playmakers. He’s certainly one and we were dead last in yards after catch this year
Toney is a good receiver, but is considered primarily a slot receiver,
Ira : 1/22/2021 6:23 am : link
so he may not be a great fit for the Giants.
I thought Waddle

I'm on the Waddle Train...
Jim in Tampa : 1/22/2021 9:15 am : link
if he's 100% healthy and just as explosive as he was prior to the injury.

Recovery time was supposed to be 10-12 weeks, which ended last week I believe.

Add in another 3+ months before the draft and another 4 1/2 months after the draft before Waddle plays in a game that counts and there should be time enough for a full recovery.

+1. Waddle is hill toney is a tad below. Doesn’t have that insane speed but he’s as shifty as anyone. Reminds me of Dante hall in that sense. Waddles Medical’s Check out he makes absolutel sense. Looking at Shepard’s contract. We can get out after this year if we choose. Waddle is an easy slot replacement and an instant yac guy.

To me, and it’s early, It’s waddle or slater.

Trying to find the next Tyreek Hill is a risky proposition, which is why I'd rather they spend a 2nd round pick on Toney than a 1st round pick on Waddle (especially given injury). To a certain extent you get what you pay for, but I'm banking on the theory that the main difference between Waddle and Toney is the difference between Alabama and Florida. Clearly I could be wrong about that, I'm neither a scout nor a draftnik. I'm just extrapolating from things I've read about both.
Kadarius Toney???

Of any receiver in the draft. Would love him in the second round, if he’s there.

would love him in rd 2
GiantsFan84 : 1/22/2021 9:11 pm : link
absolutely love
He looks explosive...that is what this team needs
SomeFan : 1/23/2021 1:57 pm : link
They need to thoroughly check him out though. He was arrested for having a loaded AR-15 in the back seat of his car. I don’t think he broke the law but that is a bit concerning. He won’t be explosive if he gets suspended
Jeremiah's mock draft has Toney going 19th overall to the WTF's...
Milton : 1/23/2021 2:15 pm : link
...so at this point it may be more likely the Giants get him with their first round pick (trading down?) than with their second round pick.

p.s.--Back in 1997 I did a mock draft in which I had the Giants taking Hilliard in round two and Barber in round three (I had them taking Dwayne Rudd in the first round). I got the players right, but the rounds wrong. It was early in the process (as it is now), by the time April rolled around it was clear that Hilliard would be a first round pick and Barber was not lasting until round three and so my final mock of 1997 was much different (can't recall exactly what it was).
Toney finally had a breakthrough...
bw in dc : 1/23/2021 2:29 pm : link
this year. And it was a very good year.

Is it a sign of things to come or was he a beneficiary of a very good QB in a weird year?

I really don't know, but it is something to think about...

No, no, no. You don’t draft a TE that high to move him to WR. TE’s don’t have to be as precise in route running, can Pitts do that at the next level? Maybe, but too much of a risk. If you’re drafting him that high, he’s a TE.
If we somehow got both Pitts and Toney
