the #2 this year a 2nd this year and a #1 & #2 next year would be my offer to Houston and tell them to try and beat it.
Why would they want Darnold? Darnold is gonna have to be a part of another trade to a different team.
I'm willing to bet Darnold would have healthy interest with a lot of teams around the league. Still a lot to work with there, and I'd bet teams would want to see if he would be able to succeed in a different situation.
The #2 pick has a lot of value. No way am I parting with a lot more than that and Darnold.
Maybe a 3rd as a topper, but if you're getting #2 overall for Watson and a QB in return, you're not then getting another first next year.
Haha. Watson is worth well more than the number 2 pick. Best case scenario is that pick turns out to a similar player as Watson. No one GM would trade Watson for the number 2 pick. Darnold is also in year 4 which means his 5th year option has to be picked up. Houston is not trading Watson to hitch their wagon to Darnold.

Haha, Watson really hasn't won anything and I'm going to have to pay him $110+M over the next 4 years vs having a cost-controllable QB for the next 5 years and I get my choice of everyone not named Lawrence.
Give me a break. Watson doesn't walk on water, he has a checkered injury history, and he doesn't have the pedigree of postseason success that you would want to see (yet). I like Watson, but he still has to answer the question on if he's a NFL championship caliber QB. Further, he's exhibiting diva-like behavior and I'm taking that on and removing that problem for Houston.
People pay out the nose for the #2 pick. I can just take Wilson or Fields and maybe better off for it.

I agree about Watson's value (more than the #2 pick) and maybe Darnold is in the trade maybe not, but I think if they do a trade like this with the Jets it would be more like the Texans hitching their wagon to Fields, Wilson, Lance (whoever they draft at #2), not Darnold.
Would likely take Ny both firsts and a player. B/c pick is so high it helps with the value.
I could see it being 1st in 2021, sea first in 21’, 2nd in 22’ and Darnold if they like him. I would do that if I’m not in love with Zac Wilson or Fields.
He is going to coast at least 3 1sts if not in top 3-5.
I myself am not in love with his approach. And wouldn’t trade for him. But I could see an org in the top three wanting more of a sore thing.

You do realize his record as QB for Houston is 28-25, which includes this year when the team went 4-12. And that is largely a mulligan because of all the turmoil with the O'Brien firing and a pretty wild off-season when Hopkins was shipped out.
His lifetime key metrics are 68% completion %, 104/36 (TDs/INts), YPA 8.6 (which is great), and an aggregate QBR of 70+.
And he just had his best statistical year ever without Hopkins out wide.
It's hard to figure out why anyone wouldn't want him on their team without a current franchise QB.

What makes you think they want Darnold?
I’d rather multiple firsts than a 1st and Darnold.
People way overrate draft picks. The floor is going to be 3 firsts and multiple 2nds. The team getting him is getting a pretty favorable deal from contract stand point. That’s why all this talk about trading him seems like pie in the sky.
Khalil Mack went for two firsts essentially and they still had to sign him I believe.

Did I mention, btw, he's only 25?
You realize that the 4-12 record still counts, right? You realize he is 1-2 in the playoffs right?
I'm saying he's worth more than the #2 pick. But I'm including Darnold and a 3rd, that's significant.
I know his stats, ok. Are you just going to ignore the money owed (signficant factor), the fact that he's had one serious knee injury, and that he's exhibiting problematic behavior in his organization at the moment? Like those also aren't factors?
Wilson doesn't need to prove he's a Super Bowl winning caliber QB. He's done it, and yeah, I would give 2 firsts for Wilson and then some.
Nobody will pay 3 firsts for Watson and take on that contract. Maybe the only team that would is Houston, but they already have him and they no longer have Bill O'Brien calling the shots. You guys are funny.

Playoff record does not bother me. Peyton Manning was 0-3 in his first three playoff starts.
The money actually isn't bad. I believe if a trade were to be executed, the first year liability would be $10M+. And then it goes to $32M(?)+?? But those numbers could be re-worked with the acquiring team...
I think you are way off. 4-12 did happen but did you see why? He’s playing on a truly terrible franchise and he proved without Watson he can still put up a big time season. They let up almost 30 points a game, you know that right? What does that have to do with Watson?
Only SB winning QBs are worth multiple firsts? How can that even be? If you offered #2, a crappy QB and a 3rd you’d be laughed at.
Watson is worth multiple firsts. And while I don’t expect anyone to give up more than 2 for him they would have to include multiple seconds to make up for it.

We're going to have to agree to disagree. I think despite Watson's statistics, which I believe fans overrate the importance of, I believe he has some downside and risk that would preclude an offer of 3 firsts.
Stats are nice, Watson still gets a share of that 4-12, though. You guys want to downplay it and their defense was miserable, and I get that, but it happened and it matters. There were 9 games this year in which the Texans scored 23 points or less. I think Watson is a 2nd-Tier QB in the NFL, not first tier. Obviously, some of you guys disagree and that's fine.
RE: RE: RE: What are Giants going to do with Deshaun Watson?
that offense has woeful talent. Below average at the skill positions, even worse once Fulled got suspended. But when fuller went down he still put up well over 300 yards per game, 11 TDs and only 2 picks completing over 70% of his passes for 9 yards per attempt. Add in another 150 and a TD on the ground. What did they let up per game during this stretch? 34 points!
In sum he’s their entire offense and cannot play defense. If that to you is just stats than I don’t know what to tell you. The risk you are talking about isn’t anything tangible, and there’s no evidence to back up said risk.

You are mistaken. Watson is worth a minimum of two firsts and probably worth three. He is a top 6 qb talent. It is rare when one becomes available. The Jets should seriously consider this if it's real. I wish the Giants had this opportunity.

Two firsts and a player could do it if the 2021 first rounder is pretty high.
At least he identified the issues with Houston and
Sure, he could get traded to the Jets, but there are several hurdles to clear.
And after that is communicated, can someone let Gettleman know Watson wants out of Houston?
Houston should inquire about trading him. He clearly wants out. He's becoming a mini version of James Harden. Houston could get a lot in return.

That would be a game-changer for this franchise that is still looking to find its way.
