awful defense by King. What in the hell was he doing. He was right there then ran across when Evans was running a corner rather than an out, then mistimed his jump as bad as he possibly could have.

I like King as a FA corner this off-season. But he did play that poorly.
go and he’s still making plays. He led the team in sacks this year! Trading OV was the right move, however we could’ve certainly used JPPs ability to get to the QB. He’s playing Edge LBer in this system though.

needs to wake these DB's for Packers up because they are absolutely lost. Two huge plays that had no business ever being completions if not for just horrendous secondary play

RE: RE: wait a second. how is that a touchback? he picked it up and ran with
he can feel that cornerback sitting on his hip so he MUST work back to the line if scrimmage when that ball is in the air. Instead he continues to fade down field and the defender gets the angle.
There has to be at least 2 or 3 DEEP safeties in that play.
They had ONE.
Looked like King has single cover all the way to me.
But I'm not in the huddle to know the scheme.
Mike Evans was single covered on the opposite side too. I don’t know what the hell they were thinking. They treated it like it was a random second quarter play.
umm actually its not bc we were in cap hell ...but how awesome is it that you say that 3 years later after watching 11 min of his play today vs 3 years of total drama and being injury prone.
You should not be playing that type of coverage at the end of the half. If you give up the middle of the field the half is over anyway. The Bucs were going to punt and then changed their minds.
Definitely go for it, just make sure not to reference the Green Bay defense.
It’s amazing what Rodgers has done with the weapons he’s been given. He has less talent at WR than the Giants. Adam’s is the only reliable weapon, and AJones at RB. There defense has been crap forever, no DL, bad scheme and always play soft. Glad we stole Martinez from that dump, everyone was so down on him but now everyone can see why he looked like crap when you see what he was playing along side with.
but I've also never liked chasing the two point conversion before you have to.
I get it, but 4 versus 5 doesn’t change things in my opinion especially since XP are no longer as automatic as they once were. The risk of being down 5 versus 4 is less than the gain if you can get to 3 this late.
And the mistakes flow like champagne at a wedding. The losers mistakes will be remembered, the victors forgotten,,, even if the game is decided by an offensive lineman's play or a referees' errant flag.
It's right out of a quantum mechanics with different realities
If the Packers end up winning because the loss for TB will fall squarely on Brady
I think TB wins but should they lose it will likely be because of Brady. All those blown plays by GB in the first half aren’t happening now and Brady isn’t getting the benefit.
Wish Bakhtiari was in this game, watching the bucs pass rush right now is rough.
Should have been successful if not for the WR dropping it
Ok but it wasn't and they should have went for 1
The math would disagree with you. They made the right decision, called a play that left a WR right open, and he dropped it.
Show me the algorithm that says they should have gone for it. Stop saying they should have because the WR dropped it. That's not part of the equation that's hindsight bias
Sure, if you get a TD now you don't need the 2pt, but you still need the TD. I'd rather have the chance of a TD right now, and risk still needing 8 later.
slid too early, but Evans got nine on first down. Might as well throw there since the clock is going to stop anyway after the play for the two minute warning.
by that call but it was an obvious penalty. Packers got away twice earlier with grabbing the jersey b4 the ball got to the receiver but this was much worse. I get the people saying they were not calling this all game though..
Angles. Going across the middle of the field like that the back judge is always going to see that sort of pull of the jersey
back judge isnt the only one who can make the call you know. That ball was never going to be catchable, either. Johnson flopped like a fish and should never have been rewarded.
But the real issue here is Lafleur. Coaches do not recover from games like this.
Except for the 1st SB under Favre and largely with Reggie Whites help, Packer defense has been never there or undependable in their winning seasons. Crazy considering their QB talent last 2-3 decades.

That's the real question...was it catchable? With PI that makes a difference. With holding it does not and they called PI.
If your defense can’t make one of two/three stops then you don’t deserve it. 4th and 9 is a long shot.
They keep saying Rodgers is 1-4 in NFCCG. I remember Atlanta SF and this one. Are they throwing the narrative when favre lost to Manning at him now or am I forgetting one?
I'm going to management and asking for Lafleur to be fired, wouldnt care how it looked in the media. I wouldnt want to play for a coach who kicks a field goal there on 4th and goal.

Yes I could research this
This take makes zero sense. It doesn't matter if it was a "long shot". If they don't get it, the defense can still stop them and get the ball back, and they would have them pinned deep in their territory.
There is zero argument for kicking the field goal there. They were in the exact same position they were before the 4th down play, needing a touchdown to have a chance to win. Except before the 4th down play they actually had the ball.
That Lafleur even thought about kicking the field goal there is mind numbing. You have one fo the best QB's in the sport, you dont take the ball out of his hands.

One of them the WR would have most likely gotten in if they didn't have a total brain fart and paid attention..but still, worst case scenario is now that Brady is backed up and has already thrown a few bad picks recently..

Seattle, when his coach also blew the game and never recovered from that loss.
This will be no different, except they are pissing away Rodgers last few top years in the meantime.

Well of course the BJ isn’t the only dude who can throw a flag, what I’m saying is that sort of pull is glaringly obvious to a BJ when the receiver and cb are running across the middle of the field. The position and responsibilities of the side judges when the play is going vertical is far more than a Back judge in an intermediate pass across the middle of the pass. The Bj is stationary watching it, the side judges need to move a lot more

Brady wants to play to 45 and I think he could do it.....
He’s amazing for a 43 year old! He just knows how to win, where to place the ball. He knows the game so well after 20+ years. You’d have to favor them again next year, as well.
I can only wish that DJ has a fraction of the career that Brady has had!

1-4 in NFC championships. But look his commercial is on TV!!!
... taking the ball out of the hands of your MVP and 20 TD Adams ... with 2:10 left ... needing a TD even after a FG ... and giving it back to Brady? I’m just dumbfounded.
But, giving up that TD right before halftime, kicking the FG instead of going for TD at 8 yard line. Lack of points off of turnovers. They have a lot of culpability

Makes no sense, especially given that not getting it means they were pinned inside the 10. 1 mistake there, especially a safety, completely changes the game.
Not understanding the post. Explain? I believe Mook was referencing the stupid Carroll call at the goal line in the SB
Nope, was referencing the NFC title game where McCarthy's mind numbing situational management cost them the game, never should have gotten to the point of the onside kick.
McCarthy never recovered from that game. Dan Quinn never recovered from the Super Bowl. Matt Lafleur will never recover from this one. His management of the situation before half made no sense either. Gets a 1st down with Lazard to the 40 with 2 timeouts and 1 minute to go and doesnt call timeout.
Unless you are Belichick, you dont recover from losses like this as a coach.

Plus kicking the FG means you are pinning your hopes on stopping the other team down by 5.
Problem is- this isn’t some 3rd year QB. This is the F ing best QB to play the game.
If your defense can’t make one of two/three stops then you don’t deserve it. 4th and 9 is a long shot.
I am sorry but it was the wrong call. I would agree if they kick the FG and they are now trailing by 3pts or less. They still needed a TD. So not converting on 4th down there would have meant nothing. In fact, it would have pinned the Bucs deep in their own end and if their defense held like you say... then they get the ball back at mid field.
Is because: yes, based on probabilities, your “expected points” is higher when you go for 2 twice as opposed to kick 2 UPs (for instance). But the thing these calculations don’t always consider is the variance. For instance: you have a higher probability of missing BOTH 2 pt tries than you do of missing 1 of your XP tries. So your upside is greater but your downside is also greater (the greater upside outweighs the greater downside, but do you really want to take that chance on the greater downside?— the downside could be a 1-point difference to where you lose the game. Are you sure you want your entire game’s outcome to ride firmly on this one decision? Personally, sometimes, I’d rather take the decision with less variance I.e. more certainty and just take the lower “expected” point total — live to see another day as they say.)
As an extreme example of what I’m talking about:
Would you rather play a $1 lottery with a 99% chance of winning, or a $100 lottery with a 1% chance if winning. In the former, you have an expected winnings of $0.99 , whereas in the latter you have an expected winnings of $1. BUT you have to consider variance. It’s extremely likely you walk away with nothing in the latter scenario. So the answer is: how badly do you need $1.00 ? If it’s the difference between you eating that day and not eating, I think you’ll take your 99% chance and run. If $1 doesn’t mean much to you, you will likely take your chances at winning $100.
This was just an extreme example, but I’m just using it to show how I often don’t see much discussion of variance when we talk about these 2-pt try analytics. I only see probabilities and expected points. In football, it matters a lot because the game isn’t just about trying to accumulate the most possible points PER SE— it’s about accumulating more points than your opponent, so the outcome is also dependent on how many points your opponent has. And whether or not the game continues on (I.e. you go to OT) depends on that too.
There’s no right or wrong answer— It does often depend on whether or not you want to be more or less aggressive in particular situations, but I don’t like how they always seem to present as this or that is the “correct” decision because IMO it’s not taking into account every single important factor that determines who wins or loses a game.
I'm going to management and asking for Lafleur to be fired, wouldnt care how it looked in the media. I wouldnt want to play for a coach who kicks a field goal there on 4th and goal.

I screwed up that joke, but anyway, congrats.
Don't put Lamar in the same sentence as Rodgers, Lamar will never even play in 5 conference titles.
Anybody else not thrilled with the later starting times?
If Green Bay can run they will probably win comfortably.

Fact, Rodgers is a piece of TRASH.
Let’s ask Hakeem Nicks
That looked like what the Raiders did to the Jets on the last play of the game.
Another Hail Mary at the end of the half in a playoff game at Lambeau field.
Which one? Hakeem Nicks or the one where Collins Apple and all of those goofs all just stood around?
There has to be at least 2 or 3 DEEP safeties in that play.

I would, they've dominated them twice this year
It would be brave.
He's 18/24 for like 200 yards a TD and a pick where the WR was held. And without his LT and his RB is hurt now. He has been good today.
GB defense has been abysmal and just handing points to Tampa

Definitely go for it, just make sure not to reference the Green Bay defense.
It’s amazing what Rodgers has done with the weapons he’s been given. He has less talent at WR than the Giants. Adam’s is the only reliable weapon, and AJones at RB. There defense has been crap forever, no DL, bad scheme and always play soft. Glad we stole Martinez from that dump, everyone was so down on him but now everyone can see why he looked like crap when you see what he was playing along side with.
How many times has he had the "team" in the conference championship game and come up small?

Big touchdown by Green Bay here.
Nope. Let's see a duel.
A struggle between the best.

STFU, Buck. When the refs keep their flags tucked away is when games are better. Don't jinx anything.
Game on.
Amos just graduated high school.
Exactly.
So the blatant hold that caused Rodgers interception shouldn't have been called? Why have any rules?
Yeah. You want to stay aggressive but that was foolish.

So nice when they let the players decide the game. Probably could have thrown a couple but it’s been a very good game to watch without all the yellow.

Lol. There's a flag. Good job, Suh. You ruined the streak.

Wasn't it just last year KC was down 24-0 to Houston in the playoffs? Or was it Tennessee? Either way, the Chiefs won like 51-34 or something lol

I get it, but 4 versus 5 doesn’t change things in my opinion especially since XP are no longer as automatic as they once were. The risk of being down 5 versus 4 is less than the gain if you can get to 3 this late.

Rogers is on fire right now
Even at that point in the game, the math says go for 2
It's right out of a quantum mechanics with different realities
It's foolish to underestimate the importance of that style of execution.
It's too hard to say... no one can seem to establish and maintain momentum. TB's defense is tough to...
Yep, there's another sack.
Don't like how LaFluer/Letfwich have called the plays in this fourth quarter.
Bucs are pinning their ears back to rush and leaving some good running lane that Green Bay isn't exploiting.
Yeah. Let the defense get a piece of the pie for once.
I think TB wins but should they lose it will likely be because of Brady. All those blown plays by GB in the first half aren’t happening now and Brady isn’t getting the benefit.
Wish Bakhtiari was in this game, watching the bucs pass rush right now is rough.
Yeah. Let the defense get a piece of the pie for once.

Went for 2 too early, or did they? I never understand that algorithm
Brady saving for the FG.
Brady saving for the FG.
I mean he should have been playing for FGs the last few drives, he was doing too much. Think he came to his senses

The math would disagree with you. They made the right decision, called a play that left a WR right open, and he dropped it.
Why kick a FG?

Show me the algorithm that says they should have gone for it. Stop saying they should have because the WR dropped it. That's not part of the equation that's hindsight bias
Good analogy.
Yeah, looks like he had it running.
Surprised they didn't go for the TD there too.
Why kick a FG?
GB has 3 TO's and they must be figuring that TB is going to run 3 times
Bucs will throw it on 1st down.

You have Aaron Rodgers. You’re inside the 10, in a league where they call flags constantly. Even when making the FG you STILL need a TD.
Just terrible.
Agreed.
The INT before half was a much bigger mugging than that.
King was the worst player on the field today. No thanks to even considering signing him
Are you blind? Or just a bitter biased baby. BLATANT HOLD just confirmed by multiple replays
Lol him stomping his feet like a little kid who didn't get chocolate for dinner
Except it didn't on the INT before half.
Yep and not even a slight tug a full grasp
Gave up a TD on a Hali Mary at the end of the half.
Didn't capitalize on three INTs by Brady.
Kicked a FG when they should have gone for it on fourth down.
Yep not even debatable
That was a clear penalty and I'm rooting for Green Bay.
Kevin King has been a disaster today...

Angles. Going across the middle of the field like that the back judge is always going to see that sort of pull of the jersey
He was a train wreck before half, then kicked a field goal down 8 4th and goal from the 8.
He'll keep his job, but today was the beginning of the end.

Not sure about that. I would argue that the jersey grab cost Godwin a step. A big step.

They keep saying Rodgers is 1-4 in NFCCG. I remember Atlanta SF and this one. Are they throwing the narrative when favre lost to Manning at him now or am I forgetting one?
Yes I could research this
The fact he came back to play football was impressive enough but to still be a really good player and now appear in a Super Bowl.
Really happy for him.

But ignore Rodgers’ 3 straight incompletions from the 8? He gets no blame?

Makes no sense, especially given that not getting it means they were pinned inside the 10. 1 mistake there, especially a safety, completely changes the game.

Unless you are Belichick, you dont recover from losses like this as a coach.

... taking the ball out of the hands of your MVP and 20 TD Adams ... with 2:10 left ... needing a TD even after a FG ... and giving it back to Brady? I’m just dumbfounded.
Makes no sense, especially given that not getting it means they were pinned inside the 10. 1 mistake there, especially a safety, completely changes the game.
Plus kicking the FG means you are pinning your hopes on stopping the other team down by 5.
Problem is- this isn’t some 3rd year QB. This is the F ing best QB to play the game.
Dumb decision.
