that is obvious or unverifiable to viewer. he knows some football of course but he needs to learn to decrease the motor mouth and learn when he can add something of value.
like all contemporary announcers he fawns and orgasms over pet players who make good plays.mhe is also like them loud and does not appreciate that silence enhances insightful words.
i didn’t like him as a player, and i i don’t care for his “expertise” babble. but most sports commentary has degenerated to continuous blather or screaming. gone are the days of marty glickman with al derogates in the radio booth..
Erasmaus Hall...Church Ave & Flatbush Ave.
Superb football player caught passes t Erasnausfrom his buddy who went on to the pros and really was the first of the modern T quarterbacks.
Some say those Sid Luckman teams were the best of all time.
Glickman, a jew, and Jesse Owens did a lot to embarrass Hitler when they teamed up to win the relay at the Olympics held in Germany. I have stood in the spot and imagined what it must have been like.
Glickman and Al DeRegotis were important because the NFL didn't understand that TV was their savior and not the enemy. They thought TV meant people would stay at home, so to preserve the gate they invented the blackout.
Years later I studied and became an avid photographer. It took me years but at the end I recognize that black and white exceeded color in many ways. It took me more years to figure out how to Define or quantify the difference. And then I got it: the black and white was not literal, you had to fill in the blanks, you had to enlist your imagination.
Took me 50 years to figure out why Glickman and the whole wonderful world of radio worked so well.
RE: Romo is an amateur as an announcer.mhe talks incessantly mostly stuff

Loved Marty and Dero...
I love Romo too. The new color guys all talk too much. Some babble. Romo does not.
But..that is why they make vanilla and chocolate ice cream. People have different tastes.
to change the subject from Romo to Glickman, but I remember listening to Marty's play-by-play on the radio. The detail he gave on something as simple as a two yard run was amazing. When he was on TV he knew he didn't need to announce all the details because we could see it. PBP announcers on TV today announce like they're on radio.

We're getting off topic here, but Glickman was not part of the winning relay team. Glickman and Sam Stoller were both replaced on the team, more or less at the last minute. Glickman long held that they (Stoller was Jewish too) were replaced due to the coaches' anti-semitism, and not wanting to embarrass Hitler with 2 Jewish runners on the winning team.
I think he's really sharp and makes a lot of very good comments, but I nonetheless find him really annoying in the booth. If he'd chill out a bit I think he'd be excellent.
is night and day. Romo can elevate the game and provide insightful commentary. Aikman sounds like an old high school quarterback trying to relive his past glory by impressing people with vague commentary and knee-jerk analysis.

So are you admitting you have two handles then? You apologize for changing the subject to Glickman on this handle, but the Glickman thing was posted by Grizz99.
are by far and away, my favorite PBP announcers. Nantz and Romo are not too bad. I agree that he's like a kid in a candy store sometimes but he's relatively new so give him some time. As a Giants fan, I absolutely hate Louis Riddick when he announces a Giants game. Every comment has a hint of "I should've been the GM, now yall suck!!!" The giants got robbed on the final play against the Bucs and he was screaming they didn't.
I think Romo is one of the worst color announcers of all time. I must have yelled to myself STFU Romo at least 5 times yesterday. The prediction thing has gotten so stupid and old. Let the game breathe and let's all see what happens in you know, like 3 seconds later?
I'm used to it from a lifetime of watching football, but it's just an unnatural thing to watch a game and have someone breaking down every angle of the play you just watched. Imagine if one of your friends was over and did that. You wouldn't want to watch with him anymore, right?
NBC had streamed games online one year where you had the option to watch without commentators and control which camera you were viewing. It was the best home viewing experience I've had.
he seemed to rightfully rip the bills for the field goals and for their refusal to rough up kelce at the line. he also did a really good job showing the chiefs covering the bills wrs and explaining why allen was struggling and what he needed to do to counter it

No you dumb fuck
Solid, well thought out retort. I guess just make sure you know which handle you’re logged in under next time?
but he just doesn't let the game breath enough for my tastes. Applying the "less is more" principle would help him greatly...IMV.
The best football announcing/team I listen to every year is Fowler & Herbstreit. They were awesome when they did that MNF game this year for ESPN. And they are tremendous when they do college games every Saturday.
But still, Romo predicts shit before it even happens.
Fantastic announcer.
much more than I liked him as a player ; ) ... but, he did not exactly go out on a thin limb with his statement.

Because they did not start on radio....
He's somehwat similar to Gruden and Madden as an announcer... great knowledge, but enjoying the game as a Fan...a Motor Mouthed fan, but a Fan.
I like him
Oh, and I hated him as a player

and that contributes to this post how?
unless i missed something
