Ottavino and a prospect are going to the #RedSox and Bos is taking most of the money. #Yankees @lindseyadler
1st that he had been traded
getting Gardy back on the team and making sure we have flexibility to continue to improve. It's not my money so I won't pretend to know what they can or cannot afford.
the money spent on him would be better served elsewhere. I don't think Gardner would garner 3 million on the open market yet the Yanks routinely hand out 8 million dollar overpay deals . If you are on a budget you can't do that

Gardy should be getting 2M on a one year deal. I'd be surprised if he gets more than that.
fan. He was fine the 1st year until September, then, splat. He sucked last year.
Loaisiga looked almost as good as Green very often last year and I think Green is their most dependable reliever, followed by Britton then Chapman.
Cessa is actually a decent long man. There are young arms available in the system.
Don’t forget that the Yanks signed old friend Adam Warren to a minor league deal this offseason. He had TJ surgery in September 2019 and is reportedly ready to go in Spring Training. Don’t know if he has anything left or can find a few MPH from the surgery, but he is one to watch.

holy shit. he has 9 yankee lives
rich and adamg, Warren is cooked. He was cooked before the time he returned to the Yanks from the Cubs(?). I expect nothing except a look see. Heller is the guy that could do something, he is younger with a better arm. I will not hold my breath on either.
I am not sure just what Cashman is doing with the pitching staff. He has recently not been good at assembling a staff. Actually he has never been too good at a successful SP staff. The bullpen was almost always good and bailed out the SPs. Now it seems both are a hodgepodge of parts. Until this team starts to develop drafted pitchers into successful pitchers he will be chasing dreams and other teams castoffs.
Still crazy to me he let Kahnle go and then chased other TJS patients....

.
Now that they have moved Ottavino's salary, I'm thinking
Gardner at about 4 mill...They are done after that.
RE: I never liked him anyway. I don't like relievers in with men on base
Still a little surprised they sent him to Boston though.
Just shows that Cashman had a mandate from Hal to get under the cap & must have not had many teams willing to take Ottavino's contract. So Cash was desperate to move him & the Red Sox offered to take it with a prospect included for their troubles!

Kahnle will not pitch in 2021. He wouldn’t have done much good...
Gardy returning. The new guy they got (cannot even remember his name) sort of takes his place.
I agree rather see what Greg Allen can do in the 4th spot than Gardy again. But that's just me.
I am a Gardy fan, that is well known, but if they are cutting ties with Tanaka, it might be the writing on the wall. Tauchman's bat fell apart last year, but Tauchman gives you about what Gardy gave them on the field with a better arm at this point.
are in the market for a RP w/the $$$ saved by moving Ottavino. Unless they can get a LH power bat like Joc Pederson at a discount rate,I have no problem w/them bringing back Gardy. Even at 37,he becomes the Yankees best defensive OF & I think they could sign him at 1 year/$1 million I'm not as optimistic about Tauchman as others on here are,as I don't believe he can do what Gardy can. He got exposed last year at the plate & dependent on what MLB does with roster #'s,he could even be the odd man out!

Believe the roster will be 26, unless covid shuts the minors again.
You would think that the DH thing should be settled 1st so that teams can at least try to figure out their rosters and the NL can look for DHs......

Agree about the DH(If you're a Mets fan, having a DH is huge) & it seems both sides want it,but are too stubborn to compromise in other areas,so that was why MLBPA shot it down yesterday!

Interesting would have thought they would go SP but we seem to love to stock up on RP.
Right now with all the risk associated with everyone after Cole....its likely German...young , healthy and has already proven he can be a very good pitcher.
