This will be a tough game, Jazz have been rolling since they lost to the Knicks, i believe 7 in a row..
Based on Thibs comments yesterday hr is stickong to the same stsrting lineup, i just hope he starts mixing and matching more and gets at least 2 shooters on the court at the same time..
Like to see Quick get some minutes with Randle and Rj with Burks on the court as well..
Hope for the best but this will be tough..
There are better PG's to be had on other team's benches and we are right around the time that report came out about the Knicks wanting to wait 20 games or so before making a move. Time to make a move.

Its not that Thibs doesnt trust rookies, Quickley is flourishing coming off the bench and he doesnt want to start him to early and he struggles..
It has nothing to do with trust, if he didnt trust him he wouldnt let him finish games
Completely agree on Payton out of the rotation but Rivers is not the answer at PG either. Can't have your PG overdribble and not be able to get in the paint. I like Quickley off the bench too and think it would be the right spot for him, IF we didn't have argubaly the worst starting PG in the league in front of him.
Ideally, Frank or DSJ would have shown something in practice but clearly that hasn't been the case, even with Frank always banged up. Was hoping Harper would get more of a look but he might get roasted on defense with his size.
The strangest thing about it is that Payton actually makes sense as a fit with the second unit. Putting him out on the court with Burks, Knox, and Toppin means there are 3 guys that can shoot on the floor, and again, frees up the paint for Payton to penetrate and create off of the drive.
Don't care if Elfrid starts but the minute totals need to shift to 18/30 or so at least (in Quickley's favor).
I'd like IQ to start but I have trust in Thibs. I just wish Payton played a lot less and had a much shorter leash.
Have to be pretty happy about Dallas' start. Would be incredible to get a lottery pick out of them. I never root for it but they are Luka injury away from being a bottom 10 team or even worse.
Does the new play in tournament effect the lottery?

10 plays 7 and 8 plays 9, whoever loses those matchups would be in the lottery
I think Tibs has done a good job managing Quickley minutes and exposure.
If he is hot Tibs plays him, but there have been a couple of games he is off, and Tibs pulls and limits his minutes.
Which is a good way to keep his confidence up and bring him along slowly.
I would be ok with it if he came in as the back up and Quick became the starter and bye bye Payton..
Also would depend on cost
I can't imagine Rose wants to come back either tbh

Isnt he coming off the bench for detroit? at least he was before Hayes got hurt

not gonna trade for him to not start. I also would be very surprised if they made this move unless it was for dirt cheap.

He still is, now behind Delon Wright. I just don't think given his relationship with Thibs and that they'll have to give up something for him that they'll play him off the bench if he does join.
but what do they want for him? I have no idea what the market might be.

Buying low, probably not a ton of upside there but he is a 3/D guy with playmaking upside. You sort of have to buy that he's really the 37% from 3 guy from last season instead of the 29% from 3 guy this year in order for it to be appealing, but he'd definitely be the best PG on this roster and is still the same age as Obi.

Yeah I'd give Knox and DSJ or something like that. He's about to be a RFA and in the middle of a bad year so he really doesn't have much value.
The pistons have Wright and Hayes at PG.
Maybe it opens the Knicks up to move DSJ, Frank, and Payton at the deadline.
But I don't think I have a practiced eye. What am I missing?

Nothing. That is a very solid summation of who he is. Very jack of most trades, master of none, very bad at shooting 3s.

He's not a shooter. He's an ok penetrator, I guess, sort of. He doesn't get a lot of assists or score a lot of points. He doesn't seem to be a plus defender. He seems to be kind of ok at a few things and good at nothing.

If giving up a 2nd rounder for Rose means I don’t have to watch Payton anymore then sign me up.
Start Immanuel!
Start Immanuel!
Rose is better than payton and doesn't effect Quickley at all.
Rose is fine with coming off the bench and mentoring Quickley.
Would rather him than DSJ and Payton
If they back down off him, he has to take his open shots and not get gun shy because he missed a few. Guy gives him 6 feet, set himself up and take the shot like its practice. If the defender wants to get in his mix, thats when to utilize the nice handle and breakdown the D.
My only problem with JR, is he doesnt stick to any plan of attack. He's a wonderful player when he is assertive.

No on Rose, though I think he's better than some here will acknowledge.

Rose as a mentor? now that's funny.

I dont if i agree with IQ starting this early. He's close but he is still a kid. Just give him the mins and if he plays well, leave him for crunch time.
yeah, I can't see it with Knox. Great athlete, not a good hoops player.

How do you look off the player who is hot, to drive to the hoop only to get blocked
