Loved Ozarks & The Crown on Netflix. Also, The Departed is on Netflix now too. I love that movie. 'I'm gonna go have a smoke right now. You want a smoke? You don't smoke, do ya, right? What are ya, one of those fitness freaks, huh? Go fuck yourself.'
Lol. The Departed trailer got me so hyped up when I saw it. Plus it has Jersey's own Vera Farmiga. I liked her way before it was cool. Don't mean to brag or whatever, but yeah.

Baldwin is so good in Departed. I've parroted that line many times!
loved it, post WW1 era England organized crime drama.
Did you see Last Kingdom?
love it, based on Bernard Cornwell historical fiction series about the 9th century "england", the Vikings invasion of England, and that era in general.
And to change it up a little
Did you see Sex Education? the exploits of an awkward teen whose mother is a sex therapist, funny, interesting, different. well done.
really boosted recent entertainment for me, and was very sad to finish season five. The Last Kingdom is fun, the first two seasons were pretty darned good, in particular.
Re-watched Band of Brothers, and still love it.
Started Gomorrah last night, the English overdubs are welcome but the voice actors aren't great. Also started Raised By Wolves, and finished Vikings last season.
CB Strike is an interesting show, kinda reminds me of Luther but lighter.
a documentary filmed by Frank Oz of a one-man play - an illusionist who does a take on personal identity. It was fascinating and, at times, simply unbelievable (in a good way).
Also saw White Tiger on Netflix about a lower caste Indian who becomes a driver for an Indian ex-pat and his American wife. Very well done, but it turns pretty dark, and none of the characters come out of it looking good.
The Knick. Was on Cinemax a few years ago. Only 2 seasons but I thought they were really good. Clive Owen stars in it and Soderbergh created it. Sets place in a NYC hospital in 1900.
Just watched it. It's a manageable 3 episode series about the the commission trail of the 80's.
Most interesting for me is the force of nature Rudy Giuliani was. They'd be naming bridges and buildings for him if he hadn't dipped his toe in the crazy pool.
War of the Worlds - Makes whats going on right now with this stupid virus looks like childs play. A spin off of the original war of the worlds obviously. Gabriel Byrne is in it, he's exellent.
Get Shorty - loosely based on the movie, an organized crime muscle type works his way into the movie business. Ray Romano is outstanding in this one.
you can watch a ton in 1 month on any of these services and just cancel. I'd pick one that has a few shows that are interesting and then load up 1 month, and move on to the next.
Apple TV+ is only $5 and between Ted Lasso and the Morning show you will definitely get your money's worth. I am also planning on starting "Tehran" soon, which was written by the same person as "Fauda" on Netflix (recommended by someone above, and me too as it was excellent).
but watched it dubbed and i was done in 2 episodes
i guess i'll try it again with subtitles if you guys are saying its worth it
Its fantastic, still need to catch up on season 2. Its one of the few shows/movies that pulls off time travel and explains it in a way that isn't gimmicky.
But yeah, don't watched dubbed, it will always suck.

I'm on the Hulu plan for $1.99 from Black Friday and I just keep HIMYM going in the background when I'm working on something around the house.
Sometimes I even watch Fraiser and Hey Arnold! to reminisce about the 90s. Ah, good memories.
I watched Princess Bride with my girlfriend, Stir of Echos, Prisoners, Rain Man. All old movies. I watched that stupid one with Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman. That movie was ass. Some other low budget movies were good that I cannot think of their titles off the top of my head.
I liked it better in German with subtitles than dubbed English. Pretty good storyline.
Not a happy show though.. lol
NEVER GO DUBBED!
I watch everything with Subtitles, English or foreign. Adds so much additional context especially background convos, names of songs, etc.
I've actually saw an article recently that broke this down. Personally, I'm generally a subs guy, but the "rules" of what you should do are different. I think dubbing is too distracting for the most part, but I've watched a couple shows recently that were better dubbed. They are investing a lot more into the voice over actors now. And one thing I found interesting was that sometimes they get the context wrong with the subtitles and not dubbed. The reason for this escapes me, but it seemed valid. This was an article that was very well thought out. Never thought I'd see that in the dubs vs subs wars.
Transformers War for Cybertron is a pretty good reboot/miniseries. The Animaniacs reboot on Hulu is another I'd recommend for some nostalgia.
Outside that, Ozark is really good. I enjoyed Queens Gambit, although the ending wasn't as satisfying as I'd like. The Heist was decent if you can get past the poor voice acting on the English dub.
was Gangs of London. It’s on AMC+ which you can get through your prime account for free for 7 days.
It was created by the maker of the Raid movies featuring some of the best fight scenes you will ever see. Gangs of London has some of the craziest actions sequences you’ll ever see in a TV series.

THIS.
This series was EXCELLENT and yes, you are correct about Giuliani, there ABSOLUTELY would be buildings named after him had he not turned cartoon-villain. The work he did to take down the bosses of all 5 families was remarkable, commendable.
it's excellent. Letterkenny is fun, but gets really repetitive after a while.
Not sure what TYPE of shows you like, but I would recommend Taskmaster. It's a British show (I think the first 8 seasons are on Youtube) where comedians are given arbitrary tasks to do and then they're rated by the Taskmaster.
It helps if you haven't read Cornwell's series. The show takes such massive departures from the books, and is so comically historically inaccurate that I had to stop after the second season. I mean basis shit, like Uhtred has blonde hair in the books, and his sword isn't even named in the show, but forms an essential part of his persona in the books. Lots more examples.
They did a slightly better job creating the Sharpe series, but still not terrific.
My son is at an age where I now will let him watch Entourage.
"Lupin", also on Netflix, was very goof as well.
I do not have Hulu.
Baldwin is so good in Departed. I've parroted that line many times!
Frank Costello : I got this rat, this gnawing, cheese eating fuckin' rat and it brings up questions... You know, see, Bill, like you're the new guy.

Second this recommendation. Entertaining and keeps your interest. Good music in background if you like oldies (from 1960s) too.
"Lupin", also on Netflix, was very goof as well.

If found Lupin to be very entertaining. I’m watching that alongside Money Heist. Two good choices for Netflix subscribers.
Also saw White Tiger on Netflix about a lower caste Indian who becomes a driver for an Indian ex-pat and his American wife. Very well done, but it turns pretty dark, and none of the characters come out of it looking good.
It was only on for two seasons despite critical acclaim.

Yeah, late to the party. It is also educational in some respects. Of course it doesn’t work like real government. But, it gives you a sense.

Valley of Tears is also very good, war drama
Letterkenny is a hilarious and light hearted comedy about a small town in Canada

Guess I should have mentioned Letterkenny is on Hulu, Gomorrah and Valley of Tears are on HBO Max.

Found this movie just this morning. Finally a good movie showing 90s adolescence and how it was back then.
I'm in the middle of it. So far, so good.
Its pretty good. Just started that as well last weekend.
