Has the Giants taking:
Round One (#11): DeVonta Smith; WR Alabama
Round Two (#42): Christian Barmore; DT Alabama
Round Three (#76) Creed Humphrey; C Oklahoma
DeVonta Smith still there at 11? Who would complain about that? Certainly not me. A fantastic receiver who fills a desperate need!
Christian Barmore in Round Two probably means we said farewell to Dalvin Tomlinson. Trading off one Crimson Tide for another (with more sacks down the road.)
Getting a Top 2/3 Center in Third Round? Please welcome Oklahoma's Creed Humphrey! Maybe he starts at Guard on Day 1.
No EDGE with first three selections, but that's being bitchy. If our Draft unfolds like this, stop right now and just mail it in... and pop the Champaign!

Ha - I thought the exact same thing. Not one of those players will be there at those slots.
I agree, he is super thin. I wonder if that’s why a few mocks have him falling a bit.
This past college season and now up coming draft is the most messed up and least scouted season in a very very long time. I would expect teams to be all over the board on different players.
agreed Smith is too thin - right now. But that can be fixed with some time in an NFL quality weight room and he is only 22 so putting on some more muscle shouldn't be too hard to do.
Daniel Jeremiah put him in his top 3 of his big board he put out in late January, and he has good info from teams and influence over other mockers.

I get that, and I am usually in the camp of avoiding smaller WR's due to how they will age when their quickness slows, but Smith is such a good route runner, I don't think a slight downturn in his quickness will affect him too much.
For me, it's Surtain than Smith. Smith would be an awesome addition - great player, smart, and works his ass off.

I enjoy your knowledge and opinions highly Rick, but I whole heartedly disagree.
I have been consuming a ton of draft opinions and tried to sort out risers and fallers, and IMO Reuter's 3 round mock for all the clubs is the most realistic one O have seen yet.
He has integrated a lot of the scuttlebutt from the Senior bowl into his order of selection, and some of his choices (ex: Ellmore Smith, ER in the 2nd or 3rd round!!!) look crazy now but as the fallers fall and the risers rise, he may just turn out to be right more often than not.
I think the Giants top 3 picks have at least a 50/50 chance of being available at their slots, and I agree Pitts and Chase will be the first two receivers off the board, in whatever order but both top 10, easily.
Still plentnof time for boards to realign.
I agree, but he’s built very much like Deshean Jackson and he’s had a very successful career.
Rice was 6'2, 200 lbs out of college, nothing small about him.

True, but I don't see Davonte as being like Jackson at all. Jax is a home run hitter, and probably has better long speed than Davonte. I think Davonte is more like another Smith - Steve from Carolina. Steve Smith was 5'9 185 coming out of Utah, with decent but not great speed (4.45) and had an excellent career because he was such a good route runner.
Davonte is faster and quicker than Smith, and is a terrific route runner. He also does a great job avoiding direct hits.
I used CAR's Steve Smith, but Harrison is a good comp too.
A lock?
