NFL.com ranking of all 2020 quarterbacks

gogiants : 2/14/2021 11:54 am
I don't agree with the Jalen Hurts place. But otherwise I think Jones ranked just behind some very good quarterbacks.

I think this is fair

With a good season, Jones can put himself in that top 15 top 20 range.

Colt McCoy

I think Jones can be a 6-12 range guy if the OL can block for him AND he gets a key playmaker, a guy he can rely on to get open especially deep, regularly.

If we get a 80-1200-10 WR UFA; if Barkley returns to form for a full season; if the OL moves from bottom 5 to 10-15 range as I believe it will; and, if we fill in with improved TE play, better or improved #2 #3 WR play, this team can win the division.

Agreed. Let’s hope Judge REALLY does as I suspect..
Jalen Hurts was not very good
Essex : 2/14/2021 1:19 pm : link
except for the first half of the Saints and Cowboys games (and had terrible second halfs in each of those games). The Arizona game he put up good numbers but it was an up and down game as well. He was miserable against WFT. That he is ahead of Jones is a joke. That is not to say Jones is improperly placed, it is just that Jalen Hurts is.
A quick perusal of that list

has me thinking he's leading the pack of QBs who had lackluster seasons.

I think DJ can be a decent QB, but any honest look at this past season makes you want for more, a lot more. Maybe that will be good enough if you put a team around him. He has a lot of room to grow, but if he doesn't step up, he's going to be a good backup/wannabe starter.
...

Feel like I'm beating a dead horse, but this is such an important upcoming season for DJ. It feels like make or break time for him if he's going to be the long term answer.

That’s not what you draft someone 6th overall to be.

Agreed 100%. I was not at all impressed watching Hurts throw the football.
It's frustrating
HoodieGelo : 2/14/2021 3:21 pm : link
seeing him that low, but they aren't accounting for any other factors besides how they played last season. Understandable. Every QB Jones is ranked above on that list regressed last year or simply sucks. I'd take Jones over more than half this list. I'm hoping for a Josh Allen junior season for Danny this year. If he still shows no signs of improvement...he's not the guy.
Brady @2 is a bit of a joke.
George from PA : 2/14/2021 3:29 pm : link
I think he should be behind Wilson.

Jones can jump 10 spots with OL and ER improvement
Most of that is fair
Jay on the Island : 2/14/2021 4:08 pm : link
but Hurts ahead of Jones is ridiculous IMO. Hurts had flashes early on but he really began to get worse with each passing game.

and what was Pederson thinking when he benched Hurts for the 2nd half of week 17

Sudfeld, the secret weapon who couldn’t even make the list, was the answer!
The QB situation in the NFL
eric2425ny : 2/14/2021 5:17 pm : link
is pretty bad right now. That’s my impression after reading this. QB’s 10-12 are Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, and Derek Carr. And Tannehill is a top 10 QB. Wow, makes me feel better about Jones.

Daniel Jones is bracketed with Jalen Hurts, Andy Dalton and Taysom Hill.
Get him two quality wide receivers and maybe even a tight end who doesn't drop the ball. Then he has to show a qualitative leap in performance.
Keep in mind, also,
csh2z : 2/15/2021 6:31 pm : link
At least the first half of the year the O-line was horrendous. Soon after that Jones got hurt and was never at his best after that.
in the blurb about Mahomes it says
PaulBlakeTSU : 2/15/2021 6:37 pm : link
that with a healthier OL he might have been #1. If you have to base how good someone is by how good his teammates are, then you aren't rating how good that person is but how good of a situation he is in.
