He was on pace to have a better season than smith and got hurt. That’s when smiths number skyrocketed. If we don’t land waddle I’m very inclined to draft slater. Who, IMO, is an all pro guard. He can even play right tackle
For a few seasons of need be his feet are that good. He’s an immediate plug and play for a decade.

Do you like Waddle over Chase? I get it that Chase is likely long gone by 11, but he seems to be a slightly better option.
A football site I follow recently had Rousseau to NYG
I think he’s an immediate impact starter like Jefferson was for Vikings. He’s that good all pro potential. I believe waddle, if healthy, would be the clear cut 2 over smith. You take size into consideration and production and waddle has it all. Waddle is a junior, smith is a senior. Waddle is listed at 183 at 5’10. Smith is 6 1 and listed at 174. I’ve heard from all account Hes in the 165 range. That worries me big time. Smith is special in and out of breaks and his burst is legit but that frame is worrisome. He’s nicked up often. Comes out of games frequently. I don’t like his frame long term in the nfl. I can see him having a good but short career. Waddle
Has the thickness and I believe that 183 is his real weight. Shepard has a year left and waddle can resume full time slot role in 2022.
Maybe Josh Reynolds I’m free agency with waddle. That’s a rather cheap way to elevate the WRs group.
mantra...how is that ankle? If it is completely healthy(it wasn't in the CFB Champ game) then they may have Tyreek Hill part deux..
If it isn't, do they get OBJ post broken ankle..?
Even after Waddle, then need someone opposite Slayton that can burn up the field deep.
because then you are debating the 1 pick as an addition without anything else (unlike how the draft really is- ie after FA).
If the Giants get say Robinson or Golladay then Waddle makes perfect sense as he is the opposite of those two receivers and still fits a major need- speed and quickness.
If we get say Curtis Samuel then Waddle doesn't make as much sense as we have too many receivers who are similar in physique and style.
A lot will depend on what we do in FA and who we jettison.
IF EE goes then Pitts becomes an option at 11 (assuming he falls there).
If we sign Robinson and another receiver then we go away from receiver at the top of the draft and look at play makers on defense.
Rouseau is a guy who scares me. He is stiff as hell and does not look like a great player in space and is not designed for a 3-4 end..
but how many 5’ 10” WRs taken that high excelled in the NFL? Honest question.
There's an analytics based metric for WR success that suggests very strongly that WRs 5'9" or LESS face a really tough gradient. 5'10" is fine, and in Waddle's case it is often stated that he has a very large catching radius, despite his size.
Long arms, significantly above average hand size, hops, attitude.
Like young OBJ.
I always say, "If you must draft a short receiver, get
one with an injury problem. And it is always good to get a WR whose name signifies speed and agility."
Waddle looks like a sure thing to me. No risk at all.
As if above average size in any way helped Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, Steve Smith (Giant version), or for that matter Plaxico Burress or Amani Toomer avoid knee or lower leg injuries?
I see the comparisons made, but I thank that what sets Hill apart from other small and agile receivers is his ability to make contested catches similar to what you’d see from a bigger receiver.
No way I’d take Waddle in the first based on his speed and quickness alone without really looking into his catch radius and ball skills further.
For Waddle like he isn’t the one who has missed games do to injury and never had a season as good as Smith’s junior or senior season. Also Chad Johnson played in the NFL at 180-185 most of his career. So did Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt.
RE: Does Waddle have the ball skills of Tyreek Hill?

Knowing what you know now would you take Tyreke Hill in the first round?
I have concerns about Waddle not being that big receiver, but if they grab one in free agency then I'd be in on Waddle at 11. OBJ is an inch taller, but no-one questions has ability to play outside! He instantly became an impact WR at 5'11".
Most short receivers with the body size of a stocky shifty running back have alligator arms with a poor catch radius and marginal hands, regardless of how fast and shifty they are.
If the Giants can get ARob or Golladay in Free Agency, it’s a strong possibility that they could go defense with the first pick and grab Parsons, if all checks out of course. Then they could grab a WR in round 2. There’s still plenty of very talented WRs available then, as well.

Let's start with Tyreek Hill. Don Beebe. Steve Largent (may have been 5'11"). Sterling Shepard. Mark Clayton and the other guy ( Dupree?) with Dan Marino. Short guys better be fast!

That draft makes me annoyed about the Philly tank job...
...which made the win against the Cowboys meaningless, and it we didn't beat the the Cowboys we would have been Pick #7 and could have drafted DeVonta Smith.
Of course this is all hypothetical based on Serby's draft, but it Smith turns out to be there at #7 I will hate the Eeagles all the more.

But the question was WRs of that height who were taken HIGH in the draft
I'd be inclined to wait, but Waddle is exciting. Moore, Bateman, Marshall, Brown... I wonder if any of them would be there in 2? Brown will be, I think he's criminally underrated at this point.

Chase had 1800 yds, 20 tds as a sophomore. A sophomore. Guys who are juniors and seniors can only dream of that kind of production. He is the #1 WR in this draft.
I hate to sound like a broken record, but if we hadn't screwed up
with trying to fix this OL for so long, we could have drafted WR Jefferson in Round one and Reagor in Round 2 and had a nice set of weapons last season.
Instead, we had to keep focusing our high resources on the damn OL and let these weapons pass by to other teams.
Now when we need a playmaker like a Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb or even Reagor.....we might be left with a third choice or having to draft soemone other than a WR at #11.
Free agency could change that need, but right now it isn't only who you draft that can wreck a team, but what resources you have to pass up to draft an area of need.
Waddle's highlight reel is the most impressive of the 3. His RAC skills are unreal. Chase might be the safer pick, but if Waddle's ankle is fully healed, watch out. I wouldn't be surprised if Waddle is gone before Giants pick.

I’m going to dream big. I’ll take Golladay in FA and then Waddle at 11. Talk about a shot in the arm for the receiving unit with Shepard in the slot and Slayton in the mix as well.
I would take a long look at Sewell. Becton and Sewell at tackles would be very difficult to pass up. It would help Bradford immensely and the run game. Trade back into the first round and see if Najee Harris is there.

The counter argument is you will be able to get a top WR in round 2, whereas Rousseau may grade out as the best pass-rusher in this draft.

So, the way Serby’s draft flows, I’d much rather Slater or Darrisaw. Or maybe Parsons.

Unless Prescott negotiations go so far south that Dallas is forced to pick a QB, there's no way they'd pass on Parsons.
