Bobby Skinner
1 Jaylen Waddle WR Alabama
2.Chazz Suratt ILB North Carolina
3.Quincy Roche OLB Miami
4.Ben Cleveland Guard Georgia
6.Chis Rump OLB Duke
6.John Palmer WR Tennessee
really nice presentation on youtube

Ed Valentine BBV
1 Jaylen Waddle WR Alabama
2.Jalean Phillips OLB Miami
3.Greg Newsome CB Northwestern

Off course team needs will look different after free agency in March but right now I see team needs as 1. CB 2 OL 3 WR/TE 4 LB
CB is not nearly the need that

WR is for us. When SS is your #1 then you know you have a hole at a position. When Slayton, coming off his performance last year, is your # 2 you really have a hole at a position. Tate is done and will be gone and we have NOTHING else at WR.

Will need to sign at least 1 guy in FA and draft two (or 1 high and a priority FA) at the position.

When you add in EE's issues then you see WR and TE as being the MOST glaring need on the team. You can scheme production from a group of over achievers but not much you can do with a group of average at best (at their best they are average) players with a few just downright pedestrian.
I agree with your list of positional priorities

Of course, BPA and what's available plus what we get in FA all have a strong influence on the outcomes.
I would sign up

For Bobby Skinner draft 100 percent, no second thoughts
Dont disagree
Bill2 : 2/15/2021 10:58 am : link
that in FA a WR is the priority.

Waddle is an leg injured player who plays at 20 pounds lighter than OBJ - so in JudgeLand that might be a disqualifier ( I dunno...just saying a Wr at 11 may not be the choice)
Don't get the Skinner's draft at all
BillT : 2/15/2021 11:00 am : link
As much as I love his videos he wants us to cluster draft LBs!! This after we drafted 4 LBs last year. And this with an offense that has major needs everywhere? Makes no sense to me.
agree with the list of priorities with some qualifictions
Grizz99 : 2/15/2021 11:03 am : link

If Barclay returns to his full potential, you are gainng a wide receiver.
I think there's a chance that Slayton can still develop.
And there' things that scare me about Waddle.. he goes down and Smith sets every record, does that say that the system and overwhelming superiority of his team inflated these records.?
Then you have the fact that there's going to be fine alternatives, from Rousseau, maybe Partrick Surtain, Farley or Parsons.
Good logic, good posts, but, at the same time, i think they could easily be wrong.
With regards to Waddle

Henry David Thoreau once wrote,

The question is not what you look at, but what you see.
Agree w/ Bill
lugnut : 2/15/2021 11:46 am : link
Is Skinner even paying attention? After cluster drafting LBs last year (FOUR(?) in lower rounds), we're going to draft three this year? Literally half our draft is going to be LBs? SEVEN out of our last, what, 15(?) picks will be LBs? Wake up, dude.
If Waddle comes back form the ankle injury

and can run as fast as he used to, I'm in. He reminds me of Desean Jackson. Without the nightmares...
Don't get it

Still not sure how some don't see WR as the number one priority. Right now we don't have a number 1 type talent. Slayton has some promise and could be a good number 2 but I don't like the fact that he doesn't go after the ball in tight coverage. I am fine with Shep as the slot but you get a legit number 1 in here and everyone else looks better moving back a notch. Don't care if we get the WR in draft or FA but it has to be the priority other than resigning LW.
Skinners OLBs are actually Edge players......
Simms11 : 2/15/2021 12:03 pm : link
We didn’t really draft an Edge LBer last year, with exception of Coughlin, who I don’t really believe is the answer. I think he’s looking at it in terms of Edge pressure LBer.
Respectfully

I see a great college athlete who:

1) Is smaller than average for the position in height and weight.

2) Who is deployed in a three WR to a side formation because he has trouble getting free into his routes off the line. In college.

3) I see the NYG needing a full 5 years of difference making contribution from their 1st round pick.

Rooting for him to do well. Rooting for the NYG to do well.

If he is not picked by the NYG at 11 then I would understand. If a 11 slot deserving WR was not available to the NYG at 11 - I would understand.

Hence, why I think we need to look to the FA pool for some of our needs at WR.
The Giants dont need one WR
blueblood : 2/15/2021 12:08 pm : link
they need two. They should get one in FA and another in the draft.
who cares what the #1 need is
djm : 2/15/2021 12:10 pm : link
draft the best player or at least draft the player most likely to succeed.

If someone told you the WR we draft in round 1 has a 50% of turning out to be great or the guard drafted there has a 90% chance to be great, which one do you want?

Mock drafts are fun, but mock drafts built on the notion of team needs are kind of pointless. Everyone knows we need a WR. Doesn't take much to conduct a mock draft with that in mind.

FA needs to play out and even after that, the Giants will likely draft by value and then marry need and value when the time comes.
Roche in the 3rd
Tuckrule : 2/15/2021 12:48 pm : link
Not sure he’ll make it that far
The Giants need impact players at every position
arniefez : 2/15/2021 12:51 pm : link
Barkley when he was healthy was the only player on the roster on either side of the ball that worried other teams and now he's not healthy. WR, DE/OLB are the most glaring weaknesses but the OL is still weak too and there are no good NFL teams with bad OLs.
WR's is going to be one of the most interesting stories to watch this
rasbutant : 2/15/2021 1:04 pm : link
offseason. Pretty sure one (Tate) gets cut. Engram may get traded. The top FA's probably get resigned or get Tagged. The Corey Davis and JuJu types have huge red flags. The top 2 in the draft probably go before 11. 3rd rank WR is coming off injury. There is lots of depth, but just look at round 2. If Landon Dickerson is there, or Ronnie Perkins how do you take a Terrace Marshall over one of them. So now you are looking at the 3rd round for a #1 wr??? Good luck with that. Sure there will be guys, but to expect a 3rd or later pick to be more than Slayton isn't realistic. Will be interesting to see who gets cut, but they probably won't be any better than the old FA's such as AJ Green, T.Y Hilton, S Watkins, Jone, etc... These guys don't feel like a solution, rather bubble gum on a leaking pipe. There will be some interesting low level guys, but the Giants are in need of a potential #1 guy. They can't go into the draft with this huge need, so someone is coming in FA...but who?
Mara came out and said we need a playmaker
Judge_and_Jury : 2/15/2021 1:18 pm : link
On offense. We have been aggressive in recent years filling our biggest holes in FA. Solder (not so good), Bradberry (excellent).

Just like the two young QBs: Allen got Diggs and Murray got Hopkins , I think DG gets Jones a top vet WR.

100% agree. We need to come away from this offseason with a legit receiver. Whether that’s an established guy like Golladay/Robinson or a first rounder. Hell, I’d pick up one in FA and round 1. A legit receiver or two would really unlock this offense.

Seriously - Ed's mock is LOL-worthy for that alone. Phillips might be the first edge rusher off the board, he could potentially be gone before the Giants' first pick let alone last to their second. I think he must be using first-pick.com for his draft values.
