Engram or Kyle Pitts, Straight Up?

TC : 2/15/2021 4:42 pm
Engram is faster, and . . and . . Well, he's faster!

Pitts is built a lot like, and is of similar size to Plaxico Burress, though Pitts is a little heavier, and Burress had a good deal more speed.

I've seen Engram make eye-popping receptions, unfortunately, they typically don't occur at critical times, though he has a unique ability of making equally eye-popping gaffs, which usually DO happen at critical times.

I'm looking for players who have the potential to be difference makers (For OUR team!) but I've seen little inclination from the Giants brain trust to move on from Engram.

Highlights: He's the Pitts! - ( New Window )
Pitts

I’ve seen enough of Engram in blue. I’d take a bag of footballs and a hot dog for Engram at this point.
Eye-popping is the right sentiment for Engram

as that is usually where the ball hits him...
Pitts has better hands, fights for the ball and has a way of getting

open.
Engram would be beloved here

if the RBs and WRs around him were better and Engram wasn't forced to be the best receiving option on the team. Just my take. If Engram was or is option # 3 or so, he'd kick ass in this offense.

Reminder, he wasn't that bad in 2020. A few bad plays to be sure, but he did more good than bad. And I think those bad plays can be lessened. Let's be honest they were of the freak plays variety. I mean every tipped ball seemed to find its way into a defenders hands. That's kind of rare.
Pitts

Based on your posts I agree with most of your takes on the team but a Engram has got to go. I’ve never seen a non QB destroy an offense with turnovers like this guy. And it’s always at critical times. Every time they throw at him I hold my breath.

I know how they can be lessened as well...
Pitts I guess...

I’m not as down on EE as many here. I think he be a force in the right scheme which probably isn’t Garrett’s. But everything I hear about Pitts is that he’s got great hands and body control both of which, especially the hands, EE really lacks.

I’m just not sure I want both of these guys on the team. It’s hard for me to see the Giants drafting a pass catching can’t block TE with this current roster at the 11. Idk...
I'm betting Engram will be here

With all the holes this team has, it makes no sense to cut EE. I'd trade him for a 3rd but no one will pay that.

Let's spend our draft capital on WR, we have a huge talent gap there. We know EE can play the position and sometimes looks great. He has to be accounted for, freeing up WR's.

It's his contract year, so he'll probably play lights out. We can get a comp when he signs with another team.

Pitts is believed to have the ability

to play WR. EE cant. Pitts is super smooth in and out of his breaks.
I'm betting Engram will be here too.

It's like the kid who wanted a special toy for his birthday, but when he got it, realized it actually sucks. But he plays with it anyway because he thought it was so special, cost so much, and he doesn't want to admit it sucks.
Hell...
Giant John : 2/15/2021 6:42 pm : link
I’d take a bag of donuts for Engram!
If they draft a Pitts, what do they do with Engram?
Simms11 : 2/15/2021 6:58 pm : link
Can we have two TEs that can’t block? Or do they split out Pitts?
Lol. What?
Route 9 : 2/15/2021 6:59 pm : link
Yeah because with OBJ and Barkley on the same field, Engram wasn't dropping passes and getting injured.

You guys love making excuses for these sucky players. He was a first round draft choice.

Yeah. Agree with this. Tired of looking at Engram. Joe Judge isn't anything special until he benches Engram's ass after another costly mistake. Thanks for the four game winning streak but yeah color me unimpressed.

I like this kid a lot. Love how he has strong hands and catches everything away from his body.
This is a joke, right?

What is Pitts expected to run?
Pitts. A tight end who can't block and has bad hands

is a liability rather than an asset.

Then you haven’t watched Pitts. They are not comparable at all.
Pitts catches footballs
BelieveJJ : 2/15/2021 8:59 pm : link
like a giant squid, the 10 meter long type, catches seals.

Engram catches a football like a nun catches herpes.

See the difference?
Zoolander
LeonBright45 : 2/15/2021 10:02 pm : link
If Adrien Robinson was "the JPP of TEs" then Evan Engram is the Derek Zoolander of TEs.

The good news about Pitts is that he may be versatile, possibly able to play outside or at TE.

The bad news about Pitts is that he may be a tweener, who isn't really physical enough to play a conventional TE role and not fast enough to play WR. I understand the enthusiasm for him, but I don't think Pitts and Engram on the same roster are a fit with Garrett's offense.

On the other hand, if Engram is traded, Pitts makes more sense. I guess.
