Daniel Jeremiah 2021 NFL mock draft 2.0

Daniel Jeremiah, NFL Media analyst

He's got 4 QB's selected before the Giants pick at 11. He also has Alabama WR team mates Jalen Waddle and DaVonte Smith slipping past the Giants and going 13 and 14.

The Giants select Miami Edge Rusher, Gregory Rousseau. I wouldn't get overly dogmatic about this, but I would think long and hard about taking a player that high who has missed a full year of college football.

I’d love it if he was the pick

IDK. It seems
section125 : 2/16/2021 5:30 pm : link
like a reach to select Rousseau at #11. Not sure there is enough there to know exactly what he is. He is quick, but seems very lean.
Not a chance in the world Giants pass on Smith
Metnut : 2/16/2021 5:31 pm : link
if he’s available at #11. Moot point because he’ll be gone by #6.
The draft is deep at WR
David B. : 2/16/2021 5:37 pm : link
Wouldn't mind a pass rusher or an OT here. Get the WR later.
Is it just me or

Does the format of Jeremiah's drafdt page seem horrible?

He has Ronnie Perkins and Landon Dickerson

going in the 1st rounder. Guess I need to find a new player to mock to the Giants 2nd round pick.
RE: Does the format of Jeremiah's draft page seem horrible?
Trainmaster : 2/16/2021 5:55 pm : link
Yes it does. The most important info is the team drafting and the players' names. He has the school and the player's year in college in a much larger font. The players' names are in the smallest font. Really poor.

Not you. It sucks. Have to search to find the name of the player.

Tell me about it, at one point I was thinking Toney might slip to the Giants second round pick. He has him going 20th overall (which is the highest I've seen so far).
The Giants defensive scheme
HonCiv6 : 2/16/2021 6:09 pm : link
Devalues EDGE players.

Their main job is to CONTAIN.

1) Set the edge against RBs
2) Contain the QB in the pocket, don't rush past the QB

Leonard Williams is the #1 most important pass-rusher in this scheme.

Impossible they pass on a Top 3 WR to reach for an EDGE.

Just remember:

EDGE = devalued in this Defense
If Mac Jones falls to the Saints...
Milton : 2/16/2021 6:15 pm : link
He'd be perfect for Sean Payton's offense, the indoor stadium, and Alvin Kamara. I guess it would mean back to gadget plays for Taysom Hill.

I wonder what Saban has to say about Jones to his buddy Belichick. If there's anyone that Saban will be completely honest to, it's Belichick. And Patriots have nobody at QB. Can't see Belichick going another season without a QB like this past one. Especially after Brady just won a Super Bowl.

They aren't gonna reach for anybody. If they draft Rousseau it will be because he was the BPA on their board. Same if they draft a WR. Or a CB. Or Pitts. Or whoever. One thing we can feel confident in is that the Giants will select the BPA.
I would love Rousseau in this scenario

but I'm pretty sure the Giants are going for an offensive skill player in Round 1

And u are ok with passing on BOTH Devonta Smith AND Jaylen Waddle???

Hon Civ- you might want to
Dave on the UWS : 2/16/2021 6:28 pm : link
go v be ACL and read DG and Graham’s comments about pass rush before you run your mouth. You spew crap like you know what the hell you’re talking about. They scheme because they DON’T have the talent on the Edge. When you are voicing an opinion starting with “ In my opinion” goes a long way.
Jaelen Phillips
jeff57 : 2/16/2021 6:36 pm : link
Not Rousseau if you’d going pass rusher at 11.

As Einstein said “And you know this because....”.
If the Giants add a #1 WR prior to the draft...
Brown_Hornet : 2/16/2021 7:03 pm : link
...I’d like to see one of;
Pitts, Parsons or Farley in Rd 1.
...and in the 2nd I like Patrick Jones and Carlos Basham.
While having concerns over Smith's size, I don't know
chick310 : 2/16/2021 7:11 pm : link
if I could pass up on him if he was available at #11 knowing the Giants situation at wide receiver. And I don't mean just from an immediate needs perspective and helping Daniel Jones.

The unit needs a good infusion of talent for the longer term as well.
Rousseau's
mittenedman : 2/16/2021 7:54 pm : link
the easy favorite for the Giants pick
If Smith is gone by 11, and he will get despite what this mock says,
The_Boss : 2/16/2021 8:01 pm : link
Rousseau or the top CB on the board is my choice. I don’t want Waddle.
SNY's Ralph Vacchiano 3 round Mock
Jerry from Maine : 2/16/2021 8:22 pm : link
I would be happy with this grouping.
1st round Gregory Rousseau
2nd round WR Terrace Marshall Jr.
3rd round Stanford OT Walker Little

You say that as if reaching is far beneath the Giants.

Well thats just not true. But I will echo the feeling about having issues with taking a guy with so little tape, who sat out last year, is deemed raw and with no combine.

I dont like the squirt receivers at Bama, but I could tolerate Smith. No way he makes it that far. I am talking myself more and more into Slater if one of the two corners arent there.
Terrible pick
BillT : 2/17/2021 6:29 am : link
A raw EDGE when two top WR ,from Alabama no less, are on the board. A “remote thrower” for sure.

That is an exaggeration but it’s fair to say most of his sacks came against guards. The tape on him playing edge is minimal.
Some of these guys have mocks that
Section331 : 2/17/2021 10:46 am : link
are all over the place. I get that teams may change priorities as the draft approaches, but it seems like a lot of these guys (hi, Mel Kiper!) throw darts at the draft board. I think they're more interested in being able to point at a mock to say, "hey, I got this pick right!". Sure, you got it right in one of 20 mocks.

Why does he have Sewell going to Cincy in his 1st mock, and then Slater in his 2nd? Davonte Smith to Philly in his 1st, Kyle Pitts in his 2nd? He thinks those teams are going for positional need, and wants to cover his ass by picking the top options for each. What is the value in that?
At least one of the WR's will be there
Grizz99 : 2/17/2021 10:02 pm : link
as well as one of the CB's.

Four QB's and one pick no one saw coming, Chase and Sewell for sure.that's 7. Alost certainly two of Michah Parson, Slade and Pitts Makes nine gone.
So there will be available one of Parsons, Slade, Pitts, then WAddle, Smith, Z. Collins, Patrick Surtain, Caleb Farley, Gregory Rousseau, Kwity Pay and Horn (cb).
You could easiy substitute and or all of Surtain, Farley, Smith and Waddle for the Parsons, Slade Pitts group.
But no matter how much checkers you play with those pieces almost all formulas HAVE to leave them with a highly rated corner or WR.
It's hard to think of a more maladjusted group than the folks who compulsively worry about a draft before free agency and have to daily write about it. Damn participants dont know or care to know about us, while we need to know what they weighed this morning and how their hips swivel.
Compulsive and if anyone has a cure, please let me know. I'd love to not care so much, love to give up on a game that 's grown past me and athletes who are completely different (and better) than in my day.

Relax Bill & Bill. Even if the others were playing chess
chick310 : 2/17/2021 10:24 pm : link
in front of the Giants, the team will still get a very good position player at #11. Maybe even an excellent one that helps speed up this stagnant transformation into more of a reasonably paced playoff-contending franchise.
GR is a classic Reese pick
BigBlueCane : 2/18/2021 4:21 am : link
in that he has loads of potential but is relatively raw.

Gettleman and Judge seem to prefer more polished players.
There are multiple draft expert that have Jaelen Phillips rated higher
Rick in Dallas : 2/18/2021 8:40 am : link
than his teammate Gregory Rousseau. Just need to do your homework on his concussion history.
Rousseau is the classic "boom or bust" prospect.
I really, really don't see them taking a WR at 11.
