Sometime early in the pandemic I gave myself permission to start buying cookies. Seemed like a nice treat to 'cope with the pandemic.' I had never been a person to buy cookies before. I don't drink or anything else, so it seemed like a fun little harmless vice to take on for a while. My cookie buying progressed throughout the year (I would take my ass to the bakery and the Chips Ahoy aisle, not giving a single F), and then I started baking my own in addition to buying them. I'm relatively healthy, didn't really gain any weight (though I didn't lose any weight I might have lost) but I'm definitely taking in way more sugar than I should. So, I'm pumping the brakes on this cookie nonsense for Lent.

Have done that for Lent the last 8 years and succeeded twice. Thing is, I make an exception on my Dad's birthday if he opens a nice bottle of wine.

unless it naturally occurs in something (fruit for example). Hope to continue avoiding it post Easter.

... to give up things for health reasons. BTW, if that's why you do it, it's still a sacrifice. I don't have a specific list in mind this year, but when it comes to thinking about something yes or no, I'll probably "Just say 'No'" to stuff like chocolate, wine, pizza (except for a slice a week), candy, possibly beef (or just cut down). Consider it good training for when you get Type 2 diabetes!
