WR's: Do You Believe in Magic?

TC : 2/17/2021 4:20 pm
I'm not necessarily suggesting that he's the best WR in the draft, or an all time great, or even that he'd be the best choice for the Giants. But I've watched a lot of football for a long time, and I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone able to do some of the things on a football field that Kadarius Toney can do.

very similar to Beckham coming out
Going way back, he reminds me of Bobby MItchell or Charlie Taylor

After they were moved from RB to WR.

He looks like a slot receiver who can move out wide to achieve certain matchups. Not really a true wideout. With Engram and Shepard still here, the middle of the field would be very crowded. I think that was part of the problem with Tate who was most effective with YAC in the middle.

In an offense with Pitts and Toney, it is hard to choose because it is hard to tell how good each one is separately but to choose between the two of them, I would rather have Pitts.
He's a really interesting player,

but he won't be drafted 11th and I doubt he makes it to 43.

Why is he rated so low...

I've seen him mocked to mid or late first or even early 2nd?
not doubting or disagreeing with the OP, just wondering. Especially because, to me at least, Waddle and Smith, for all their upside, have potential liabilities.

I wouldn't mind him at 11. Fountains of joy if he's there in the second.

I think it likely he goes somewhere in the 1st, and agree it's unlikely he'd make it to the Giants' 2nd.

We all know the offense needs weapons, but other than Barkley, the current front office seems reluctant to spend high picks on them, even when there are good options, I assume because there are so many other needs. Have been drafting DB's high, but not getting a great return on many of those picks.

So maybe this year they'll give Jones a little more ammunition. Some mocks have Devonta Smith in the 1st, though I suspect he'll go somewhere in the top 10. He's another fascinating prospect. The only knock is his skinny build, but nonetheless he's strong and tough. Great hands and routes, and though I've seen numbers put his 40 around 4.5, if it is, he plays much faster. There's tons of video of him blowing by or running away from quality SEC db's. And while I typically prefer big WR's, he looks REALLY fast and could give the Giants the kind of down field threat it seems they haven't had forever.
I know it's highly unlikely

but this is where a trade down to the 16-22 range would come in handy.

I think this guy would make our offense explode.

The scouting reports say he'd be a slot WR in the NFL, but I can see him being moved all around in formations. I'd prefer Toney over anyone not named Jamarr Chase at WR in this draft.
Hands?
CT Charlie : 2/18/2021 4:52 pm : link
Almost every scouting report says he's really good "with the ball in his hands." Few talk about having good hands, though, and one otherwise glowing report (lots of 8 and 9 grades) rates his hands at 6.5/10. Ugh.

A shifty Evan Engram 2.0? Great when we connect, but a potential drive killer.

on Toney, it seems that he SHOULD be available for the Giants at #42. Some have him listed as possibly being there in the 3rd for us, but I don't see that. His game film against SC (cocks) & Tenn makes him look like a 1st rounder for sure. I hope he somehow ends up on the Giants as this kid is electric.
