From Les Bowen at The Philadelphia Inquirer via Twitter:
Spoke with NFL management source (not from Eagles) about the Wentz melodrama. His viewpoint: If Wentz doesn’t want the Bears, Bears aren’t gonna trade for him. Eventually the Eagles take whatever Indy is offering, maybe a second plus something. Also, Eagles draft a QB 6th overall
On Eagles drafting QB sixth overall — bear in mind, Eagles might have a different eval of Hurts than this person, who said his team rated Hurts as a fourth-roundish, backup-with-a-chance type. He thinks, picking high in 1st is a rare chance, u can do better, u have to take a shot
QB controversies are such bullshit. Steve Young and Montana generated the most awkward and angry situation any locker room has ever seen--meanwhile, they won't TWO super bowl titles and nearly made another one if not for the NY Giants.
Not that this pertains to a hilarious take from this guy--but they love to stir shit up and then proclaim how distracting it will be to the team. BULLSHIT.
Hurts will get a chance this year assuming Wentz is traded.

I'm not so sure about that. If Wentz and Hurts are still there then no but if Wentz is traded they'd almost be fools not to use #6 + whatever they get for Wentz to move up into the top 5 to get who they love.
Hurts will get a chance vs. the rookie in this scenario - they'd only need 1 of them to workout.

unless they trade both Hurts and Wentz. Unlikely.

perhaps--i guess it makes sense since HUrts was only a 2nd rounder, but I would hate that pick if they then turned around and used a first on a QB one year later despite Hurts showing some talents in his limited time.
Then again, everything the Eagles did down the stretch of 2020 made no sense and the HC is gone--so who the hell knows.
The Jets have very little to lose and could shop Darnold and come-out pretty sweet with some room to draft some offensive weapons...
Not seeing it with Hurts as a long term starter and I can't see how you stick with Wentz.

"The Eagles organization and Jeff Lurie have been 1 step ahead of the Jints Central and Mara for years and it continues with this new age strategy. You take a new QB every year despite the rest of the team falling apart as long as Gettleman doesn't get to pick him. Its a new NFL. You keep bringing in a new player every few years as long as his name isn't Daniel Jones. This is how owners who don't run their teams like their Daddies did are successful."

I dont disagree (except for Googs), and the relentless portion of your post was what I was teasing about...its only a matter of time before they are on this thread taking an Eagles subject and using it to bash the Giants.

Yes. While the Eagles have been more consistent the last 20 years I never understand the out of whack praising. What sucks is the one SB they won, they did so in one of the worst NFC East years, the easiest NFC playoff field I can remember and probably the worst of Bill's Pats teams to make it to a SB.
I mean.... yeah... they picked him in the second, so they definitely had him rated higher than this dude who had him as a 4th.

If you're going to go back that far, they also have experienced a ton of luck post McNabb. Garcia playing out of his skull, Vick coming back from two years off and having a few very good seasons for them. The Foles year. Jason Peters pretty much lasting forever and being one of the best Tackles in the league for almost a decade after he turned 30. They basically have competed for the playoffs with no secondary for what? 12 years?
I would also argue that the Giants have been just as UNlucky with what happened to many of our draft picks and just as good if not better at signing free agents and drafting during that time. We just always had trouble beating them.

but drafting 3 QB's high in the last 6 years with two being high first round is not a great recipe. I think this is the path they go though. They are very old in several positions and the the OL is falling apart with the DL joining very soon.

The post that you see me praising the Eagles organization at anything will be my first.
Come to think of it, I could probably say the same about any posts regarding chopperhatch as well...

Why would the Jets move Darnold and end with Wentz? That's a more expensive lateral move. I'd rather have Darnold than Wentz, at least he's cheaper.
I love the drama for Philly....hope they only get a second rounder for him. Or better yet, let Philly keep him and suffer through that hot mess.
Hurts won't stop the Eagles from taking a QB at #6.
I suppose we can root for the Jets to swoop in and trade Darnold to Indy and see Wentz refuse Chicago and like, idk, Wentz sits on the sidelines fucking the Iggles with that contract. All I know is this, I wish the Philthy Green Birds, and every one of their knuckle dragging fans nothing but pure misery.

I can see them trading up from #6 with whatever they get from a Wentz trade to target one of the two remaining decent QBs in Fields/WIlson. It would be ideal for them both for cap and future prospects perspective if it turns out this way.
I can see 3 QBs going to Jag's, Jets(or Houston with Watson trade), Falcons....all of which are ahead of them. If they believe in Hurts...so be it...I haven't seen enough of him so he may be the one????? Once this all shakes out, I'd be willing to bet they take a QB and/or trade up for one.

Buh-bye Chopper
Mentioned that the over/under on you getting suspended again was probably about 4 weeks. Congrats to the unders...
