I like Marvin, Samuel, Draft Pick , Slayton...plus "cast" better than avoiding a nice player to keep Shep. Shep is a No Impact Receiver.
There you go. Cut the one dependable receiver..Better they cut everyone not named Sterling Shepard.
Shepard is our best WR at the moment. He’s a perfect slot receiver. We just need to add two true outside receivers. Slayton may be one of them, but you need at least 4 viable WR’s to compete in this league.
Shep is far from a Perfect Slot. No Speed...no ability as a Runner or after catch. Lack of availability week-week. He's a decent THREE at this point.
Samuel has big upside and versatility.... Jones would provide a tough professional Wideout. Draft some talent. Bring the rest of the cast Back and let them fight for a spot---Pettis, Slayton, Etc. You add talent and production and WAY Upside.
But he's not, he's an ERFA. It's probably the same site that told you BJ Hill was a FA - and I'm guessing that site is probably including this calendar year's season when they discuss 2021 FAs (meaning they're talking about players who will achieve their respective FA status AFTER this upcoming season), which would explain both of your errors.

No speed? Have you seen him run reverses? He’s not Tyreek Hill but he’s not slow. Slot receivers don’t have to be super fast, they need to run clean routes and catch the ball which Shepard is very good at.

Well, that clears up the confusion with the years. I retract those statements about getting Simms and Hill.
They still should have explored him last year when he sat on PS all year..
1) Of these guys, the one who interests me is Jones, but not a while lot. I like him, but at his age and not a true #1, what is the point really?
2) We don't need to bring in more of the same #2/#3 guys. Why stockpile a bunch of the same? It still leaves the same problem of not having a single guy that a D worries about.
3) Maybe with Tate cut, one of these guys becomes a better version. But, again, it's still not a #1 guy that loosens up a D.
4) Shepard is the guy that makes me go back and forth. I really like him and think he is better than some give him credit for. He is excellent in the slot, but is still good outside. He just needs someone opposite him it make him more effective. Slayton is the same way. Some were down on him by the end of the year, but he is a good #2 WR. We just don't have anyone better to take the heat off him.
But he's not, he's an ERFA. He's #4 or 5 on their depth chart. Health issues. But when healthy, produces. I think they are going to go get another WR to go with McClaurin. And I think they are gonna rescind that tag.
They also have a Steve Simms, exciting KR/PR with pretty good WR skills. Nice young guys who can stretch an offense. I think they'll keep just one of the 2..
Both are better then what we have now. Both are 25-26 yrs old too.
Moore is a Curtis Samuel type at a much lower price. Good runner.
Reynolds played with a QB who couldn’t get the ball down the field. He may be one of the best FA values this year, I think he can be a solid starter for several years. Big guy. Can get deep.
Not a fan of Jones for this team. I’d go with the younger guys,
+1
Didn't SY just vent a week ago about plugging holes instead of building a pipeline???

but he'll be 31, so now we're looking at stop gap rather than an ascending player who's in his prime when the roster is ready to contend.

This is an excellent point.
We should focus on signing ERFAs that will never hit the market.

He has a nose for the end zone, and his skill sets seem complementary to Shepard.
In theory, among Slayton + Shephard + Jones you would have a balanced group of skill sets (if still missing the twitchy athletic type).
Meh....we can do better than Marvin Jones....would be two too many Detroit leftovers in the locker room...

ERFA. Guy is 6'5, good hands.
Why would they let him go?
They got a bunch of guys coming up on contract and still need a QB. Make the contract where WFT can't/won't match
If he is an exclusive rights FA then the Giants can’t make him an offer.
