NGT- Teams are starting to cut down

jvm52106 : 2/19/2021 4:28 pm
ahead of the league year to deal with salary cap issues.

GB is releasing OT Rick Wagner and LB Christian Kirksey

Phil is releasing WR Desean Jackson

Car is releasing S Tre Boston, P Michael Palardy and DE Stephen Weatherly along with K. Short earlier this week

Den released NT Kyle Peko

Atl- released S Ricardo Allen and DE Allen Bailey

Over the next two weeks we should hear more and more names being released as the new league year gets closer and the Cap becomes set.

I was gonna ask

I'm forgetting when forgone conclusion cuts usually happen..its seems to be happening earlier this year (i could be wrong). Which is why i was wondering Golden Tate is still "part" of the team lol

That OT Wagner, anything left there? He must be over 30 now but was always viewed as solid.
Tre Boston was drafted by Gettleman

I'd imagine Giants will take a look at him with the need for secondary depth. 15 career INTs isn't too shabby.
A lot of

Why Golden Tate is still

On the team, is a shock to me.
Denver is also considering
Adam G in Big D : 2/19/2021 5:09 pm : link
cutting Von Miller.
Boston is a safety....and the only position the Giants are stacked
George from PA : 2/19/2021 5:11 pm : link
The Giants only need is another strong outside press man to man corner
Desean Jackson
Finch : 2/19/2021 5:39 pm : link
Wouldn’t mind him as a one-year stopgap while we are shoring up our WRs. I can’t image he’d be that expensive.

Let’s see how accurate Jone’s deep ball really is

Totally agree. We hear all the time how adept DG is at recognizing his mistakes and cutting them quickly.

Of course, that only ever happened with one player since he's been here (Omameh), but I'm sure it's accurate. He couldn't possibly be pot committed to Tate, could he?

I am not a Tate fan at all but he is way better than what is below him on the roster.

And exponentially more expensive.

There is no justification for keeping him other than maybe Tom Quinn sharing photos with him.
Tate

is gone. What difference does it make if he's cut today or in two weeks?
My 2 cents
Toth029 : 2/19/2021 6:21 pm : link
1) Giants are extremely good at S, a good versatile set right now and a good one who will only ascend in McKinney.

Ryan, McKinney, Peppers, perhaps Love as a hybrid

2) Desean Jackson is a piece of shit. No way does he belong on this team.

Also strongly disagree about Tate being better than the others. Mack had more yards in his sole start than Tate did I'm any one game this year. He's toast and selfish to boot. Boot him as soon as you can.
No to DJax

To echo Acid...Tate is gone, whether it's tomorrow or next week.

I saw him last year in actual games. No he's not. And he'll be a year older.
DeSean Jackson? Might as well pick up Shady McCoy to be a backup RB

To alll FA except bare minimum
Rick Wagner would be a nice piece to add
adamg : 2/20/2021 1:52 am : link
on the cheap. Very solid RT. Could allow more time for Peart to develop.

I agree. With Thomas and Gates turned the corner and Wagner, the Giants would have good players at the 3 most important positions on the o-line.

Why was he signed in the first place?
Wagner is likely to retire.
Big Blue Blogger : 2/21/2021 11:31 am : link
If he decides to play another year, there’s very little chance he’ll leave the upper Midwest unless somebody offers a stack of cash. No way he comes to NY cheap.

What about 2 years 15 mill?
Can we assume that...
D HOS : 2/21/2021 12:29 pm : link
The oldest most worn out and over priced players, generally are the first cuts we'll see... so therefore the younger, better, more likely signings are cut last because they are the "hardest" cuts to make?

In general. I guess if a team needs the cap space and there is a good young player due a payday who absolutely will not be resigned, uch a player could be an early cut. But our targets, probably come later?

In other words, don't get excited just yet :)

IIRC, he was signed because of his physical play, both in the receiving game and his willingness to block...which was supposed to be beneficial for an offense built around Saquon. It didn't work.
