According to Bondy Knicks are willing to give up the assets to get Beal..
Knocks also monitoring Mccollum, Portland jas a decision to make because Lewis is going to get paid this summer and he has played well with Mccollum hurt
Knicks and Wizards have been talking and Knicks have a deal on the table that includes Rj that isbwhy his minutes have gone down..
Wes is pushing Beal to basically give the ok to the Wizards to make the deal, but Beal doesnt eant to be perceived as a bad guy for asking for a trade..

I think 3 firsts and a young player for a 28 year old who doesn't play defense is a horrible idea. I just don't understand why this team cannot build through the draft with maybe a FA or two over the next few years.

You dont just build through the draft, it is trades, draft and free agency, they have good young players, they have plenty of cap space..

Beal does not play D. He doesn't stand out only because nobody on that team plays D.
If you trade away 3 firsts and a young player for Beal then it seems tome you are, by definition, not building through the draft.

The Knicks could use every one of their draft picks for the next decade and it’s incredibly unlikely they’d ever get a player on Beals level.
I guess between the Knicks and the Giants we’ve all been conditioned to losing and looking forward to the draft to miraculously turn things around. The seasons have become a way to kill time until the offseason begins. I mean, at what point do you want to start winning some games and getting to the playoffs on a regular basis? This team hasn’t won a championship since 1973. I don’t know about you but I’m tired of “building through the draft for the next few seasons”. Then in a few seasons we will be saying the same damn thing...

say the young player is Rj..
The 3 firsts are 21 dallas, 22 knicks and 23 knicms..
You still have Quick, Mitch, Toppin all homegrown..
You would still have your own 21 first and s dalls 23..
Still have plenty of draft capital..
You would also still have plenty of cap room with still a deep team..

The difference between Beal and LaVine is Beal CAN play some level of defense while LaVine can not. The metrics show that Beal has played much better defense with better coaching and on better teams. His D may not be elite but his perimeter D has been very good in the past. Thibs can probably get the most out of him.

Tim Hardaway Jr. had a good first half against Beal and Beal told him at the start of the second half that he was done scoring, and proceeded to shut him down. He’ll definitely play some defense if it’s demanded of him.
RJ, Obi, three firsts would be my offer. If a pick swap or two seals it, I won’t go crazy.
Beal, Randle, Quickley and Mitch makes for an excellent foundation. Also, if Beal and Randle don’t mesh well you can always let Randle go after next season and shop for a better running mate. Hopefully Wes is as powerful as everyone says.

should move McCollum. Really good player but not the best fit with Dame. Given their lack of assets to get to the next level, it would make sense for them to see what they can get for him to find a running mate who's a better fit.

is really surprising to me. Bradley Beal is 28 years old. RJ Barrett is 20 years old and the youngest player on the team. Barret during his age 19 season averaged a little over 14 points a game. Beal during his age 19 season averaged 12 points a game. Beal during his age 20 season averaged 17 points a game. Barrett during his age 20 season is averaging right around 17 points a game. Beal is now leading the league in scoring. Barrett's free throw shooting and mid range shooting have shown improvement this year. For the love of god....show some patience.

I agree.
Just wanna toss my hat in the ring with this crew, and trading Barrett, at the age of 20, for a more quick fix solution feels too old-Knicksy. I’m on board with watching this group of likeable, talented, hard-working youngsters develop. Don’t want to trade RJ.
Eh, but we know what Beal is as a player. RJ is still an unknown. I'd rather have the proven commodity over an unknown. RJ might turn out to be another Beal, but odds are that he doesn't. And Beal is only 27. It's not like he's ancient.

Beal is not just some nobody. He is a 30+ player who also under better circumstances resorts back to a decent defensive level of play as well.
I know I'm not giving up on Barrett but to think he'll become even close to Bradley Beal (32+pts/game) may be wishful thinking. I DO think he'll eventually become a very good player in this league but it may take a few years to get there (like it did Randle and many others).
I would much prefer to trade Toppin as he is more of an unknown and his development curve may be even longer. However if I absolutely had to, Id wave bye bye to Barrett if it meant getting one of the top scorers in the entire NBA who happens to be exactly what this team is missing most.

Stop Rj is nothing like Bradley Beal in any conceivable way, you want throw out ppg and thats it?
Their field goal percentage is about the same
Beal his first 2 years shot 40% from 3, Rj is shooting 30%
Efg% Beal was at 48% Rj is at 45%
Rj is a better rebounder, assists about the same..
The league is about stars, Bradley beal is a top 10 player in the NBA, id bet Rj never ever gets to that position simply because he cant shoot..
Beal just was named an All Star starter. Odds that RJ ever starts an All Star game? I don't think those odds are high. If we can Beal-without giving up the farm-we gotta do it.
Let’s not pretend like that’s possible. Beal is a legit top 10 nba player entering his prob. Rbs peak is probably too 30-50 player, which is good but huge difference to top 10. Beal can play defense just fine in a good system
I know. You see Embiid last night? Good Lord. I know the media narrative is that LBJ is the MVP, but Embiid & The Joker are having better seasons. I'd put Dame up there too.

Embiid or Dame are my mvps this year, they are carrying their teams
Nets seem like a team who will be able to turn it on, Harden has been fantastic.
Every Knick fan should absolutely be rooting for the Nets if it came to Nets/Sixers in the ECF. I’ve been very impressed with the Nets, they seem to be able to turn on the defense when they need to.

Beal is averaging 33 points on 47% from the field. It's just hard to picture us getting to a world where RJ is that too. That doesn't mean you're writing him off, etc, but 33 points per game is elite of the elite. He's not getting there.
I think 24 ppg, 7 rpg and 4 apg is certainly a possibility though, and that's a very good player, maybe great depending on where the percentages end up.
I do think if a Beal deal ever materializes, RJ will have to be included. It'll be sad but you have to give something to get something. I'd guess RJ, Obi, Frank, Knox, both 2021 1sts, 2023 1st.
It's a lot, no question, but potentially a lot of good spare parts. Obi basically is blocked from starting for the foreseeable future, Frank and Knox are out of the rotation, and RJ we spoke about. The firsts as much as there's hope otherwise will likely be in the late teens or early 20s. The 2023 pick is top 10 protected.
Go get him, Wes! Show us all why they brought you in...
