Hate to say it but we need a center that can force opposing Center to play defense.
But a win is a win.
RJ played a good game and plays well in ugly games.
Bench was a mess tonight outside of Burks.
Rose, Quickley and Toppin 3 for 16 combined.
Watching Nets-Clippers what a horrific call at the end
It amazes how bad Noel's hands are. Mitchell Robinson has the same thing. I remember hearing a C (maybe Shaq) explaining that he missed so many free throws because it's like throwing a marble into a basket. But I digress. Whenever a pass goes to Robinson and Noel, they almost always bobble it.
This article expands on that and speculates about destinations for Beal (Warriors, Pelicans) if he were to be traded, perhaps in the off-season.
As for CJ McCollum, certainly an excellent player when he's on the court. But two years older than Beal and currently out with his third career foot fracture. msn sports - ( New Window )
He's really good defender but his hands are 2021 Evan Engram esque. Combine that with his slight frame and that makes him a terrible rebounder for his position. And he has absolutely zero feel for what he's doing on the offensive end. I'm half convinced that one of the bad RJ floaters was supposed to be a lob to him. Noel has value and can help a team but he really is a limited player. Mitch is already a lot better, IMO.
Taj was a bit of a better matchup for Towns and definitely a better fit down the stretch.
RJ was good most of the night although I'd say that there was one drive where he got swatted by KAT that had me thinking that we really need to focus on going through Randle in a close game like that. Finally they did after that swat and it paid off with Randle getting to the line.
Randle is a stud. I was so sick of him last year but the dude is playing well and brings it every night.
I'm not sure he'll every be worth what he's gonna get paid but you can see how having another scorer like Lavine would change a tight game like that. RJ is a good scorer but he's not a shot creator. Having a guy that can stretch the floor and create his own shot would make it so much harder for the opponent. Instead, because Randle is the only one who can get his own shot, it leaves the Knicks playing a little uphill most nights. Luckily, The Wolves only had one guy too and it didn't cost them. But that wont hold in the playoffs.
I'm on board with adding Oladipo on the cheap for this reason. Definitely on board with Lavine at the right price too. Would love Beal but don't want a Carmelo situation where they empty the cupboard and Beal is riding solo with a bunch of castoffs.
also, saw this quote from Kobe about the young Randle. "He's Lamar Odom in Zach Randolph's body". That's been the tease and we're finally seeing it night after night. I love the guy. Can't believe I'm saying it.
How bout Carlisle? Kerr? Pop? Let’s hear from the Fiz Fan Club.
Remember that tweet woj had about how fiz was left with a rudderless roster and took the hit? well he deleted it because it was being retweeted after knicks beat the hawks
taj cant be relied on to play big minute every game. Noel is a better player when he is playing 20 minutes a game then 30. Its one of the reasons we are what his 4th team in 7 years or whatever. I like Noel a lot as a backup. And i like Taj as a 3rd string center. We need to hope that Mitch is on that early side of the timetable and def cant have any setbacks.
And man that wolves roster sucks. Obviously too early to tell what Edwards will be, but the rest, yeesh. Rubio is what he is a solid PG, Beasley is solid, but after that im not sure anyone on the roster could even crack the knick rotation. I get they are missing Russel, but still.
RE: RE: Curious to see if Woj takes any shots at Minny for this move.

I mean we here on these threads are not shy about criticizing the Knicks, but the heat those guys gave the Knicks for firing a guy with a .200 winning % bordered on comical.

Most of the time Woj just states the news...but when he injects his opinion you realize he really is the worst. Just a petty little bitch.

it really wouldn't kill them to go with Randle at center for short stretches. Who knows, maybe Thibs will stumble onto an offense combination that can actually score a little bit.

The game tomorrow would be the game to go small, Warriors have no bigs
There is no need to panic and trade for Drummond. Mitch will be back soon enough and he really anchors the defense and his hands are like Jerry Rice when compared to Nerlens Noel.
not sure I understand why they just let C Justin Patton go for nothing to the Rockets - OK, he signed a two-way so that's a professional courtesy but I don't think you're required to let a guy go if he's offered a two-way.
C Shittu is playing well offensively down there but I can't assess his D based on limited viewing time. There's also C Labissiere. But they don't seem interested in bringing up a third C while Mitch is out. Personally I think it would be a good idea - last night shows why - but what do I know.

Knixks have no rights to the players on their g league team except for harper and iggy..
to a writer I know this weekend. Nothing cooking but the Knicks have let teams know that nobody is untouchable. They are looking to add to what they have but won't be shy moving 1 or more of the core if it "makes sense". They won't blow it up in the way they did for Melo. The expectation is they look to add ala Rose more than trade anybody off.
RE: RE: Could Skal Labissiere help while Mitch is recovering
Looking damned good in the G League so far - averaging 16.8 ppg, 9.3 rpg, and 2 blocks. Not a prolific outside shooter but he can knock down an open 3 (3-7 in 7 games). Good one on one defender, but a GREAT help defender.
shows the difference between this team and the Knicks of the last 7 years. They probably lose that game last night by 12. Instead, they held them off with good defense when they couldn't buy a bucket and still won by 4. The Wolves aren't good but there's been a few games this year where it was clear the Knicks of old would have lost easily. I know I'm searching for a positive but nights like that add up throughout a whole season.

Last night was the opposite if what has usually been the case for the Knicks..
Usually its the Knicks making a 20 point comeback against a better team and coming up short
RE: You can tell why Thibs and Towns didnt get along
What bothers me about Towns is Butler and Thibs couldn't get the fuck out of Minny fast enough. I trust Butler and Thibs more than Towns, as talented and productive as he might be. I would be bothered by this chain of events if I was a Twolves fan.
Ugly win last night, but i'll take that over an even uglier loss.
Agreed. The bench was awful the last 2. Thank god we survived this.

Hiring Raptors assistant to a multi year deal, this must of been in the works

A few more top three picks and maybe they’ll be mediocre.

I didn't know you were allowed to hire an assistant from another team midseason

they got permission from Toronto, doesnt happen very often

This x1000. Knicks caught a lot of heat from those guys.

Hopefully they drop three of four - Brooklyn better play two of their big three.
