1986 Week 9 Cowboys at Giants Full Game

Jints in Carolina : 2/22/2021 10:10 am
Pivotal NFC East matchup for a pair of 6-2 teams. Carl Banks KO's Danny White with a broken wrist. Big drama at the end. Giants would not lose again in the '86 season.

Summerall and Madden on the call.

Ugh what a PAIN in the ASS

Dallas was that year. They gave us everything we could handle. Danny White and Herschel were really tough against the Giants. The opening night loss to them was a tough loss, and I remember biting my nails this whole second game as well.

And they only won that first game because Lawrence Taylor got tired; he admits that in the America's Game episode on the 1986 Giants.
Simms bottomed out in that game

Got completely outplayed by Steve fuckin' Pelleur in relief of White, 6-18 for 67 yards and a pick. Only a monster game from Morris saved the day.
I miss that Joe Morris so much

He was so crazy quick and fast through the holes.

I still see that TD run without his shoe against the Steelers!

Helaire with KC reminds me so much of Joe.

Another George Martin masterpiece.

He saved the Giants asses on the Cowboys final desperation possession.
there was one play in that game where DAL completely

suckered Andy Headen on 3rd down late. He came flying in untouched and they ran a draw to Dorsett for big yards.

That's the first play I always think of for Morris also, but what a fantastic runner. It's too bad his career got cut short with the broken leg. He was one of the top 5 RBs in the league. He was so quick and powerful, with nice open field speed too.

Yeah, I'm watching these old videos and I don't remember how good Joe Morris was.

Man, Dallas collapsed that season. After this game, they went 1-6. That's a shame...

There’s a clip in a lot of highlights reels of Parcell’s yelling “some guys need to get their head out of their ass” at LT when he came off the field in that game. To LT’s credit, started week 2 he turned in his MVP season

re-watching this week 9 matchup, LT didn't have a very good game.

They were good with White starting and not good with Pelluer starting. When Banks hit him in this game, he broke his wrist and tore ligaments too, ending his season. Pelluer started after that and the team cratered.
When was the last time the crowd at a Giants home game
Matt M. : 2/22/2021 8:06 pm : link
was loud enough for the visiting QB to say something to the officials?
