that is not good news for us. We don't want Jeff Bezos owning a team in our division. He built one of the most powerful and most efficient companies in the world. We don't need that kind of competition.
If this happens, you're trading Snyder, who flies by the seat of his pants, consistently makes stupid, short-sighted decisions, for Bezos, who is an an unemotional, analytical genius, and the creator of what may be one of the best logistical organizations ever created.
when the WaPo put out that expose about the front office of WFT. People thought he was doing it partly to lower the asking price/speed up the ousting of Snyder
Dan Snyder is the gift that keeps on giving if your a fan of the Giants, Eagles, or Cowboys. Since he bought the team the Redskins have been one of the worst run organizations in the NFL.
But yeah, Bezos owning a NFL team means that team probably becomes the next dynasty based on analytics which would be a decade beyond the rest of the league fairly quickly.

Riiiiiight. Isn’t that supposed to be happening in Carolina? I expect them winning the super bowl next year.

That's a bad trade for the Giants.
If I thought the Giants were a well-run organization, I'd welcome the competition, because good competition pushes any person or organization to improve.
However, I don't think the Giants are particularly well-run. Both owners inherited their shares; neither one built the organization or even built the bulk of their fortune, they just won the sperm lottery. Tisch at least has had a successful career in entertainment; the Maras have their seats because of their father and grandfather. It's a family business, and that shows. If the Giants have to compete with Amazon-level ferocity and thinking, we fans are kind of fucked.
You can see it already in MetLife vs. the Cowboys' edifice. Mediocrity vs. relentless drive to excel. The Giants reek of the former.
My gut tells me another team owner will be more willing
I'm as frustrated with ownership as the next person, but this organization has won 2 Super Bowls in the past 15 years. The Cowboys haven't even been to a Super Bowl in 25 years. Let's hold off on anointing Stephen Jones as some football savant.

I assume that was meant for me. I didn't mention Stephen Jones and yes, Dallas is perpetually overrated. Stephen Jones also won the sperm lottery, he's another guy who didn't win anything. But his father is still around. Wellington Mara is long gone and the Giants have been mostly mediocre and getting worse. And believe me, as someone who remembers what a clusterfuck the Giants were in the 70s, when Wellington took over for his brother and father, I have no particular nostalgia for him. Another guy who inherited his seat in the executive suite, rather than earning it.

It was meant for you & I don't necessarily disagree with anything you wrote. The Giants need an outside voice with no ties to the organization unlike DG, but I'm been banging that drum forever. If it wasn't for Rozelle...Lord knows what the last 42 years would look like.
Snyder and Bezos are both self-made guys who built their wealth.
One guy became the richest man in the world for a time and orchestrated two of the most dominant industry changing products the world has ever seen, the other is wildly rich but kind of plateaued and is a professional agitator now.

Being a Mets fan all my life I think I can speak to a certain degree of knowing what the fuck I'm talking about
The Giants and the Mara family are one of the last teams in sports that needs new ownership, its not even close.
You have no idea how good we have it as Giants fans.
I had an interview with Washington to come in and develop an IT strategy focused on data and analytics... they are a complete mess.. I’m not going to repeat the stories... but I can tell you the giants are years ahead of them. They are in the Stone Age as far as IT.. I was shocked..
I could imagine how good they could be if they actually had the right leadership and processes.

Fired all the senior reporters and hired 25 year old freelancers (I.e. trust fund kids). He has young people with creative writing degrees from Oberlin reporting on the “science” behind covid.
So I would not be particularly worried about his becoming an NFL owner. You have to work with other owners to have influence. Bezos is a guy who will rub the other owners the wrong way, much like Jerrah.
Amazon also has a bad reputation with Gen Z so I don’t see young guys flicking to his standard

Oh, having been a Mets and Giants fan since 1969, I have a pretty good idea how good we do and don't have it.
Excited about Steve Cohen. Meh about the Maras. They're better than the Wilpons, much better than James Dolan (another guy who inherited his money and never did a damned thing on his own). They're not cheap, they mean well, they want to win. They're just in jobs that no one would hire them for except themselves, and it shows.

Amazon has been a dominant company. Unfortunately they have crushed a lot of small businesses with their tactics along the way. The same tactics won't work in the NFL.
I had an interview with Washington to come in and develop an IT strategy focused on data and analytics... they are a complete mess.. I’m not going to repeat the stories... but I can tell you the giants are years ahead of them. They are in the Stone Age as far as IT.. I was shocked..

This is funny considering they practice in the data center capital of the world.
Bezos is competent and much more of a machiavellian, take over the world, win at all cost evil billionaire, as opposed to Snyders incompetent, so-egotistical-he-meddles-in-everything-and-knows-best billionaire.
He'd probably run a football team much better than Snyder.
It also should be noted, Amazon isn't where the money is,
Dan Snyder is the gift that keeps on giving if your a fan of the Giants, Eagles, or Cowboys. Since he bought the team the Redskins have been one of the worst run organizations in the NFL.
We talk about how badly the WFT is run, but they have 3 division titles since the last last time we won the East.
So really, who is the gift that keeps on giving? Snyder? Or Mara?

You're kidding right? How many Super Bowls has Snyder won exactly? Comparing Mara and Snyder is not even close. Good lord some people just want to find a way to bash this team/owner
are the ONLY DC playoff appearances in the last 30 years, since they won the title. That is NOT good. Mara's teams have been in the playoffs 93(11 wins), 97(10 wins), 00(12 wins), 05 (11 wins), 06, 07$(10 wins), 08(12 wins), 11$, 16(11 wins).
Snyder is terrible. His teams have never won more than 10 games, and they've only done that twice.
You can make the case that Mara is a bad owner- as if 2 titles since 2007 makes this a reasonable proposition. But I think that comparing Snyder favorably with him is making an error in judgment.
AWS is. AWS controls over 50% of the web hosting universe.
This is true. One of the group projects in a business management class I'm taking was on Amazon and I was shocked at how much of its revenues come from AWS rather than e-commerce.
Until the richest man in the world makes his offer.....
Snyder may not be as wealthy as Bezos, but he is a billionaire. His personal valuation of the franchise likely far exceeds what anyone else would be willing to pay for it.
I wish he'd buy the knicks. I'm enjoying this season but I can't believe Dolan will keep his hands off long enough for the team to be consistently good again.

I agree with 81 Great Dane. The Maras (and Tischs) are wonderful people, they are not cheap, they want to win, but the league has evolved in ways that has left them in over their heads.
Bezos knows how to run an efficient organization. Amazon has been wildly successful in multiple arenas (failed in some, but so does every massive company). E-commerce, package logistics and delivery, web services & cloud technology, voice assistant and smart home devices, video streaming, audio streaming, grocery (Whole Foods), commercial AI & machine learning tools, publishing, and more... Anybody who can build an organization like that would be scary as an opposing owner... Much rather have him as my team's owner.

Stop and take a look at who writes these articles and you'll get a good laugh. Unless, that's your cup of tea.
Lol @ awards. Isn't Washington DC who is literally notorious for doing the beltway strategy?

That's truly one of the most unintelligible responses I've read on BBI in 20 years. The irony that it comes on an exchange criticizing the work of journalists is biting and entertaining.
I've read the last two sentences of your post a dozen times, and have no idea what point you are making or to which you are responding.
You read (and defend) crap journalists who use their own friends and use the same few writers (who only coincide with their own beliefs) as their only sources.
Always comical to when these "journalists" have to retract their articles and statements and then they get pissy when caught in the act.
Not possible. :)
Seriously, if I'm Snyder, I sell. Bezos will pay a premium for sure.
That's a bad trade for the Giants.
I'm guessing "Washington Amazonians".
But yeah, Bezos owning a NFL team means that team probably becomes the next dynasty based on analytics which would be a decade beyond the rest of the league fairly quickly.
