Pitts at number 3. Heres hoping teams reach for the QBs. It will leave us a great player at 11. Definitely not a great draft to trade down. Seems to be a talent drop off after Rousseau.
I would not mind AT ALL. I believe his best football is yet to come. I like him better than Floyd as similar prospect although Floyd was more polished. Upside for Rousseau is as as high as any in the draft. Bust potential is there.
I keep reading that Pitts is an excellent route runner
and can play TE or WR. So why wouldn’t he want to go into the draft listed as a WR? At least from a financial perspective WR’s generally get paid more as their career moves forward. Remember Jimmy Graham trying to get reclassified as a WR years ago to get the WR franchise tag?
but if Sewell somehow fell to around 8 or so you'd have to consider a trade up for him. We would have our bookend OTs for the next 10 years.
I'd be ecstatic with any of Chase, Smith, Waddle, Parsons, or Pitts.

He's going to lose that battle in the NFL court. He's primarily a TE. It seems if you take any significant snaps inline, even as a mostly receiving TE, you get classified as TE by the NFL considering how much the position has changed.
and Fields at #10, with Rousseau at our #11. Parsons and Surtain in the mix. Still think defense is the better player/pick than WR from this crop.
I do too. Not sure who said this here, just admitting the following point on dominant is not originally mine. I think we are an ER and a second corner away from being a dominant D. I would make that unit elite. By elite, I mean a unit that can win games.
D'Wayne Estridge on this list. The WR from Western Michigan was the fastest wideout I saw in college last year (including Smith and Waddle); he is incredibly athletic; and has great hands. The closest player to OBJ I have seen.
And both sat out in 2020. Slater is the real deal with some interesting versatility along the line. So I think DJ might have this right.
Having three RBs with first round grades is very surprising. Javonte Williams is very underrated. In fact, that entire set of skill players in this draft are underrated - Williams, Brown, Newsome, and Carter.
They're ranked much lower on at least one other site. Like Day 3 for Tryon and Day 2 for Onwuzurke.
Interesting to see Tutu Atwell ranked 36 overall. Colin Lindsay is about on the same page. Other sites have him out of the top 100. Polarizing prospect. Sy liked him for the Giants as their 3rd rounder and first receiver pick.
And when I read Slater’s write up, it makes me think he needs to be seriously considered. The draftniks all seem to think he will be an elite G. Selecting that sort of player at 11 makes a lot of sense. Low risk, elite talent into a unit that’s been a long term problem.
If two top QBs are on the board when the Giants are on the clock,
and the Giants aren't going to take one of those QBs, the Giants have to at least have conversations about a trade down. They could get a haul. But the question is: Enough to justify giving up one of the top 10 players their board?
Ideally trade with someone like the 49ers at 12 or the Patriots at 15. You could get SF to overpay if the Pats are going to jump in front of them.
My six player short list (Chase, Pitts, Sewell, Slater, Farley, and Rousseau) keeps getting chipped away at with now only Rousseau left outside Jeremiah's top ten. I see the trend with other draftniks as well. Great Blue North's latest top 100 (dated February 22) - ( New Window )

Farley is the real deal. I've watched a lot of video. He can play man and off, and both effectively. He closes very well on the ball and looks like a player with the chromosome to create turnovers.
Impact WR, impact returner. I draft Waddle, I cut Shep, use his money to help sign someone else. Waddle is just a dangerous playmaker with another level of speed.

I highly doubt we're trading up this year.
We're short on draft picks as it is, and don't have enough cap space relative to the FAs we want to keep/acquire to make up the difference through free agency.
but I have a hard time buying the Slater rush up the charts and even less that he'll be drafted before Sewell.
Look at the 2019 AP All American teams: Thomas and Sewell first team, Wills and Wirfs second team, Oregon's Throckmorton and WVU'S McKivitz third team.
Neither Sewell nor Slater PLAYED in 2020, and now Slater grades out above Sewell?
I'd love to know how Slater's agent pulled this off, and I am willing to bet Sewell gets drafted ahead of Slater.
But I have a hard time following the hype on Slater, and him bypassing Sewell. Both of them SAT OUT the 2020 season.
Look up the 2019 AP All American squads. The NCAA link to the list has 1st, 2nd and 3rd team All Americans listed. Sewell and our own Andrew Thomas made the first team, Wills and Wirfs the second team, and Oregon's Throckmorton and WVU's McKivitz the third team.
No mention of Northwrstern's Slater at all.
I'd love to know how Slater's agent pulled off his meteoric rise upthe charts. I gather PFF grades might be involved?
I am willing to bet Sewell will be drafted before Slater, any takers?
Cinci should get serious and double their efforts on protecting Burrow moving forward.
It will be interesting to read NFL.com's numerical grades on the 2021 prospects when they finally publish them. Sewell may well be the highest graded prospect in the entire draft. I have seen this proposed by several sites/pundits.
I don't think he's the can't miss generational prospect many like to think he is, but he's #1. Fields is the QB I think could slip a little, especially as the BYU kid is moving up.
Giants need QBs and WRs to go early and push down the talent on defense. Chase and Smith will be gone, I'd go defense over Waddle due to his lack of size and the ankle.

I think that's very likely. I expect 4 QBs and 3 WRs to go by the 11th pick.

Think it's quite possible, wildcards being the upside of Lance and Waddle's size/ankle questions.

RE: RE: Sewell should be the first OL off the board
classic Reese pick. You don't really know what he is, and his reviews sound eerily similar to Engram's.
To wit:
"During the grading process, I thought there was a legit shot Engram would finish atop this list. He was close and to be honest, these two may be back to back on the overall big board. If Njoku is gone and Engram ends up being the pick, I wouldn’t be disappointed one bit. Engram is essentially a top tier speed WR that weighs 234 pounds. While he is a notch or two below as a blocker from most of these guys, he still got the job done in the SEC against linebackers consistently. In terms of what his role would be long term, think of how the Redskins use Jordan Reed. He has that kind of ability, if not more." - Sy56
My opinion on these guys is that it's easy to be a "weapon" without a real position in college, not so much in the NFL. Unless he's going to a stacked offense where others need to be accounted for first. Which clearly does not describe the Giants.
I'd be ecstatic with any of Chase, Smith, Waddle, Parsons, or Pitts.
I bet he’s gone before 11. I have a feeling we will have a chance at Smith or Waddle.

Hey M.S.
You posted the mock draft.
This is the prospect rankings list.
I believe this updated list was just published this afternoon.

Sorry for the confusion.
Great Blue North's latest top 100 (dated February 22) - ( New Window )
Ojulari at 39, no Ossai- both could also be in play in R2 although I think Ojulari makes it into R1
Pitts- starting to think it's time to forget about him unless DG trades up
Sewell at 9 and after Slater- if he makes it to 11, too good to pass up
R1: Coming down to Rousseau, Surtain, Waddle/Smith, Parsons or one of the OL (Slater/Sewell/Verah Tucker)

He wouldn't. So that's why he dug into the film this year. And concluded Slater was better...
