Giants 3-Round Mock Draft (2/23): From Giants Wire & SNY

M.S. : 2/24/2021 1:07 pm

Anything can happen I suppose, but John Fennelly of Giants Wire has Big Blue going Defense One, Two and Three which is a little hard to imagine.

Ralph Vacchiano's Draft seems to make more sense, but then again, I have no idea whether his trifecta is any better than Fennelly's!?! What the Giants need more than ever are ballplayers and I no longer care which positions they happen to play:

John Fennelly; Giants Wire; Tue, February 23, 2021
Round One (#11): Gregory Rousseau; EDGE; Miami
Round Two (#42): Levi Onwuzurike; DL; Washington
Round Three (#76): Israel Mukuamu; CB; South Carolina

Ralph Vacchiano; SNY; Tue, February 23, 2021
Round One (#11): Alabama WR Jaylen Waddle
Round Two (#42): Tulsa LB Zaven Collins
Round Three (#76): Notre Dame OT Liam Eichenberg

I think I really like Vacchiano's draft

I'll take it
Can answer better after FA.

BPA....and hopefully no need to force picks

I think Round 1 you have to absolutely go with the best player

whether they are on O or D. Its not like our D is completely set, we have some holes. Some also depends on Free Agency. I have to believe we are going to add a top WR in FA. We cant go into the draft or season expecting that a rookie will be our #1. WR is usually not a position where a rookie comes in and is the #1 right off the bat.

We just need talent on this roster. The O is still a disaster. TE, WR and the right side of the line all need upgrades. Are we going to plug in Peart at RT and expect him to be a top 15 RT.
No

way Collins lasts until #42. I also think the Giants will be reluctant to use day one or two picks on players who opted out last year. Gettleman needs players who have the greatest chance of being able to contribute right away.
Opt outs have to be considered greater risk.....

But maybe a few gems drop later in draft
Vac's picks

Would take this in a heart beat. The OL out of ND would be a steal in the third round when we pick. Has the chance to be a solid NFL starter for a number a years. Not spectacular but steady.
The ND kid

Will not be there in third round.
The idea that the Giants would draft D 1,2,3
BillT : 2/24/2021 1:52 pm : link
Is, I believe, absurd.

Rousseau will be gone before the Giants are on the clock.
Means nothing, but Mukuamu has a 6th-round grade on PFN

It's one of those years. Evaluations are all over the place.

Vacchiano's mock is pretty reasonable if things break right.

If Rousseau goes top 10 that means yet another "top 10" prospect is going to be on the board at 11. Just hope it's not a QB. If there was ever a year to trade down...
Warming to Waddle
Thegratefulhead : 2/24/2021 3:32 pm : link
Very interested to see his pro day 40. It would be nice to have a Deshaun Jackson type on the team.
Rousseau
uconngiant : 2/24/2021 4:16 pm : link
will be there and Kwity Paye is a better prospect. I am not high on either at the 11th pick. I am not a Waddle fan with his foot injury.
I want Pitts, Smith, Chase or Parsons. If one of the quarterbacks drop and the Giant's are blown away with a good first and another top 75 pick.
It's impossible to judge these mock drafts until we know what happens

in free agency.

For Example, IF the Giants sign Golladay...would drafting a CB, OT, Parsons, or Rousseau be a better move than Waddle?
Disagree...
Brown_Hornet : 2/24/2021 4:57 pm : link
...if the Giants are not drafting for need but rather BPA, why do we need to see the results of FA?
Giants 31st in offense ..
Manny in CA : 2/24/2021 5:11 pm : link
Makes this draft completely irrelevant.

Team needs talent. Other than Kicker and Punter, every position should be considered. If the best graded player in their row is a WR, fine.

Where's he going to be? In the john? Rousseau is not a top 15 talent.
Really Like Vacchiano's Mock
LTIsTheGreatest : 2/25/2021 9:15 am : link
but don't see Collins lasting that long into the second round. Think he might even go late in the first round

Exactly. Free agency is going to tell us a lot here.

I don't think he's THAT kind of player, and I'm a Miami fan.
Ralph is funny

Our 2nd rounder will be gone in the first. Our third rounder gone in the second. Other than that, I’ll take it.
