I'd be pissed too if I were him. Good to see Fox come to his defense, but I'd even hope for more of a violent response. Usually you won't lose the PP.

They’re so short handed and while the Flyers are too, the Rangers don’t have the depth the Flyers do. Zibanejad is flying and finally getting some offensive production, but man he still just can’t bury one. He’s had some chances. I don’t think they’re playing a bad game, it’s just every mistake they make seems to wind up in the back of the net. This is like pond hockey, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them come back in this one.

But this was a winnable game. Too much passing up shooting opportunities again in this game. All 3 goals were on rebounds, they have guys passing skating with speed at the top of the circle. Fire it and bang away at rebounds.

And Brendan Smith had one of the worst games I’ve seen a defenseman play in a long time. Wow, he was horrible. Shesterkin played a great game tonight, just too many mistakes.

I have ever watched a game where there were so many mistakes by a team’s defensemen.

in those situations regardless of how many defenders are between him and the guy he’s attempting the pass to?

See what you can get for the veterans (not including Panarin). If you can unload Trouba and Kreider, you have to seriously look into it, especially Kreider. That contract will be an albatross.

But did I see Bitetto and Smith on the PP? I mean I know we have a lot of guns missing, but you're putting in a guy with 3 career goals on the point?

I was surprised to see lemieux out there at the end of the game, but then I watched the Canadiens last night and in OT Kotkaniemi didn't touch the ice but Philip Danualt (0 goals, defensive center) was out there in the 3v3 OT.

Julien is out of a job.

Sometimes it's like coaches feel like they can outsmart themselves.

I don't know what the fuck Quinn is doing anymore. And seeing Lemieux on the PP in front of the net? I just don't get it. I mean why not put Gauthier in front of the net? He's bigger and has better hands than Lemieux.


I'm sick of trying to make sense of everything Quinn tries to do. This team is so lost and severely lacks leadership.

With Panarin, Miller, Chytil, and Trouba all unavailable. It's frustrating to watch but there's only so much they can do missing that many key players.

Jon, just curious, but do you have any inside connections to the Rangers like you do with the Giants?

Everything would have had to break right for the Rangers to be a playoff team this year. Zibanejad and Panarin would have had to continue their MVP performances, Shesterkin/Georgiev was going to have to be a top 5 or so goalie tandem, we would have needed a guy like Chytil or Kakko to explode onto the scene...not only have things not broken right, but pretty much everything has gone wrong for this team, some of it their fault, most of it completely out of their control. Maybe you can predict the DeAngelo thing was always a potential, but I for one would not have predicted we’d lose our superstar to an international political firefight, or that Zibanejad would drop off so precipitously, that we wouldn’t get much production out of Lafreniere who was widely regarded as a player who would immediately step in to a 50-60 point season at minimum...

Oh well, it’s fun to have hockey to watch again, and this short season with COVID was a crapshoot to begin with. I’ll still watch and hope they can go on a run to get back into the playoff picture, but ultimately, there are just too many good teams in this division, and the Rangers still have some work to do to get to that level.
