Rank 2 New York Giants As an extension to the above point, don't expect to see the Giants on Hard Knocks unless the Mara family chooses to be involved. Given that hasn't happened in the first 15 seasons of the show's existence, it seems unlikely at this time. Then again, maybe Big Blue management will jump at the opportunity to showcase a new era of Giants football now that the Eli Manning era has receded further into memory. The organization seems quite happy with second-year coach Joe Judge, and the return of Saquon Barkley from reconstructive knee surgery is a compelling subplot, as is the story around third-year passer Daniel Jones, who may have competition in the quarterback room come training camp. The Giants will always feel like a Hard Knocks longshot -- perhaps that's part of the reason I find them to be a compelling subject. |
The only image that Hard Knocks can promote is “embarrassment”.
While the NFL can "force" a team to participate, the Giants have a gentleman's agreement that was put in place awhile back that they will only be on Hard Knocks if they wanted to be. Perhaps judge would want to - but I don't see it.
In return, the Giants have agreed to other behind the scenes things.
I would put my bets on Dallas or Carolina for this year. Also keep in mind, Jacksonville may volunteer to be the team - there are a lot of rumors they want to be featured.
I hear ya, personally I'm torn. I think the argument is that it could theoretically be detrimental to the team in some way. I think if you're not strong enough for the scrutiny you wouldn't be strong enough to handle winning the NFL. But it's also just one more distraction and thing to manage on an already full plate so...
anyway, we hear about the Giants candidacy for Hard Knocks almost every year, and Mara will find a way to weasel out of it.
in a training camp with a lot of change going on and a need for the players to focus and become a coherent team.
Whilst I can only see the jags taking part this season (if UM approves it) surely growing the franchise overseas can only be a benefit?
Hope my first post on BBI wasn't too ranty & to my fellow Scot's (& descendants): Slàinte!
