AT& T is going to separate DirecTV, spinning off the satellite service and U-verse TV.
DirecTV apparently can't afford to keep Sunday Ticket (which begs the question: Why go with DirecTV, then, unless you live somewhere remote where there's no wired service or cable?). So the leading contender for Sunday Ticket is... Amazon?!
They sure have the deep pockets and the reach.

Sunday ticket has always been a money loser - they make their money on the monthly subscription
If I read the article correctly, Direct TV will retain the NFL Sunday ticket for next season
Think about how many fans regularly threaten to cancel their DTV account just to get the inevitable Ticket offer (either free or deeply discounted) to keep their account active. Now imagine how many people genuinely are just trying to cancel DTV and get that same offer even though that was not their intent.
It's not hard to imagine just how often DTV was probably using the Ticket as a retention tool (basically a loss leader of sorts). So I don't doubt that Sunday Ticket is a red number on DTV's budget, but I bet it used to still represent a win overall in terms of retention and growth, at least until cord-cutting became so much more prevalent and Red Zone offered a viable (less expensive and much more accessible) alternative for gamblers, who probably made up at least as much of the subscriber base as out-of-market fans did.
Sometimes the RedZone switching between games drives me nuts, when it is not a Giants window. As Direct TV was not an option for many I suppose someone else...Amazon,as some suggested here will have that offering.
I have watched Giant games by satellite dish since 1985. Starting with the big 8–10 foot dishes I saw Giant games by satellite. The Giant home or Philadelphia games were always the hardest to find on satellite as their home games did not need to be uploaded to the satellite. CBS just sent their NFC home games by phone wires instead of satellite to their local affiliates. Only if the games were being carried to a broader region would it end up on satellite. When Fox acquired the rights to NFC home games distribution moved to the West Coast.
This was all before the Sunday Ticket. The Sunday Ticket established a legal mechanism for out-of-market home games. When the 8-10 foot dishes fell by the way side, I was forced to get the direcTV dish in order to continue to get the Sunday Ticket. In the beginning pricing was okay. Today it’s outrageous.
So unless ESPN outbids Amazon distribution by satellite will end for the Sunday Ticket.

Hopefully I can get it this season and won't get stuck watching Tampa.

I was consistently able to watch the games right after they ended.
Regardless, they should move away from a satellite company and avoid cable as well. Stream it. Everything is moving to a streaming service anyway. I watch everything on my computer (have a large tv connected to it) as it is.

How quickly after the game ends is a game available on NFL Game Pass. I dropped Direct TV this year in place of Youtube TV so I can watch the Giants which are out of market. (Youtube TV can be set up for a different region if you have someone within that region register for you). No real interest in doing Youtube TV again and am really going off grid. I pay about $15/month for Netflix and that is it. Nothing else. Was thinking I can spend an extra $99 for the year for Gamepass if the games were available shortly after the end.

I dropped NFL Game Pass two years ago, but unless they've changed, you can't watch 1 PM games "right after they end".
ALL games (except for the Sunday Night game) have to be concluded before they give subscribers access to the replays of the games.
If the Giants play at 1 PM, you can't watch it until about 7:30-7:45.
I've been waiting for a package-or preferably ala carte games or individual team season games on Google or Amazon.

The fact that I only have access to games in my geographic location is archaic.
I hate that I'd have to sign up for a whole cable package. I also only want to watch Giants games, I'm not wanting to pay for every NFL game

I love the RedZone channel. The back and forth between games I actually enjoy. Beats constantly switching channels to see how all the other games are doing. Its all on one channel

It may have changed because last season was my first using it so that’s my only experience with it but I never had to wait that long. I watched the games very soon after the games ended.
Accounting gimmicks. That just means they pay $2.5B more in exclusive licensing to the NFL than they take in directly from people buying Sunday Ticket subscriptions. But anyone paying for ST also needs a base package which is probably $75+/month (likely substantially higher than that).
Assuming they bring in $1B from ST and subscribers pay $500/subscription, there are 2 million people paying for it. At $75/month ($900/year), DirectTV is generating at least another $1.8B in revenue from ST subscribers.
Of course, the real question is how many of those ST subscribers would switch if DirectTV doesn't offer ST or if they could get ST elsewhere?

The Ticket offers all the games vs simply the Redzone correct?

RZ is virtually flawless. I only hope that the NFL or providers don't over charge for it because I would pay it. So would many.

While I personally don't like RZ channel, every service prodvider has a RZ channel. I dont understand why they can't do that for the entire sunday ticket package after this deal expires.

It's not that they can't make Sunday Ticket available to everyone, it's that they don't want to. Directv invented the Sunday Ticket and have used it to attract subscribers for 25+ years now...it's how Directv grew to it's current size.
Sounds like they are about to lose it to either Amazon or ESPN+...which is probably the right thing as it will only increase the revenue to the league as well as provide more access to the majority of the population. New technology will allow all of us access to a great product.
