PSL Licenses

tdawg5697 : 2/25/2021 8:41 pm
I currently have 4 tix and i want to downgrade to 2 tix. I dont even want the money back from the PSL. i was told i need to sell the 2 PSL's (Nobody buying) and if i do not i must buy all 4 tix or lose all 4.

I am not great with the legal terms and conditions but is that allowed?

I used to have 6 tickets
fireitup77 : 2/25/2021 8:50 pm : link
They made us buy 2 parking passes per game. Wwe didn't drive to the games so we tried to do the parking passes. They wouldn't let us. We walked away from everything.
I would contact the ticket office
BH28 : 2/25/2021 8:51 pm : link
You can probably just surrender two of the PSLs back to the Giants.
I haven't read the terms for your situation.
robbieballs2003 : 2/25/2021 8:51 pm : link
You can transfer them to someone else and then they'd be separated so you wouldn't have to worry about it. However, I am not sure when that would occur so I am not sure if it helps you in the short-term.
I am at the point
tdawg5697 : 2/25/2021 8:59 pm : link
of giving them all up. My family has had tix since 1952 and since they built this awful stadium and made fans buy psls its been downhill. Really a shame.

If he does this he will have to pay the Giants the $500 transfer fee.

I used to think that the Giants were a class organization.

I no longer do.
I sold my PSL about 7 years ago
Jolly Blue Giant : 2/25/2021 9:04 pm : link
Now I go to about 2 games a year. I buy the tickets on the ticket exchange a day or two before. I look at the weather. I make sure my kids don’t have a cold or whatever. I’d rather pay double the price to not have to deal with the tickets each and every week.

Is that new? I don't remember that. I originally went in with a friend so all our tickets were together and after the first year we transfered over their tickets under their name.

No, it's not new.

It sounds like you did what I did.

My buddy originally bought four PSLs and the following year transferred two of them to me.

I paid the $500 transfer fee.

You must have forgotten that you did the same.

They are screwed and they know it. Walking away from PSL‘s is a better deal than buying season tickets at face value. And I don’t see that changing for many years. If ever.

Next step is ripping out the entire upper deck like the Redskins did.

So just be aware if you give up your PSL, you will be surrendering the perks that come along with it, such as a live stream bedtime story with Logan Ryan. I know that’s very important.
I would ask the Giants if they have anyone interested in 2 psl

I haven't had any negative issues dealing with box office...but then again...I every so often buy more seats....and a do a couple of transfers.

who has actually made money on the PSLs but that is solely due to the location of the seats and by no means is normal. That said... once the team is competitive again, I will be selling my PSLs. I think a ticket broker would be the likely candidate.

To the guy above who tried to cancel parking. I did it a year ago with no issues at all.

I bought Psls off this exchange in 2014

https://nygiants.strmarketplace.com/Personal-Seat-Licenses/Personal-Seat-License-Info.aspx

I look at the PSL as a membership to a country club with the upfront fees. Yes dumb in hindsight but I did not pay what the original offer was to the season ticket holders at the time

They handled the transaction well.

The came the PSL's and we were all scattered, moved to the corner of the end zone in various places, much higher etc. Shameful...

I said "no thanks" which is the best way to object to the commodity you are buying, or not buying.

are revisionist history. Not too long ago (i.e. 2005) Giants tickets were a limited commodity that were only available to season ticket holders or via ticket brokers who charged enormous "service fees". Stubhub was in its infancy and the term "app" had not come into existence. Under that environment the Giants set out to build a new stadium that would later be partially financed with PSL's (just like every other stadium being constructed at the time). So for all of the geniuses who predicted the future, congratulations. My sense is that if we were to check the archives, you would be the ones bitching and moaning at the time of how you were being robbed of your god given right to Giants tickets. If you wanted to buy Giants tickets at the time, purchasing a PSL was the only direct path. And for many fans, this was an opportunity to have access to something that up until that time, required going on a 50 year waiting list. There is no doubt in hindsight the more prudent path was to not purchase a PSL, but to say that was predictable at the time is such horseshit.
have you spoken to your account rep?
ron mexico : 2/26/2021 9:41 am : link
maybe they will let you upgrade from your 4 seats to two better seats and the PSL fees will be a wash.

And it's like we've hit the crash of 29 between the Giants consistent poor performance and Covid making it near impossible to attend a game.

Once we're through the woods with Covid, and if the Giants ever get good again, their value will return. However, unfortunately, they're both big ifs.

I'm holding onto my pair for now, hoping the Giants will come to their senses and offer another opt out for this upcoming season cause I don't think we'll be through Covid fully until the end of 2021.

They get the bulk of their money from TV deals. PSLs are there to hyperinflate the value of the franchises. The money from PSLs is just the whipped cream and cherry on the sundae.

They don't need fans at games. When they say that, they're doing it to claim they are losing money so they can claw back a higher % in the CBA negotiation.

PSLs

PSLs suck... but I made sure to buy after the dust settled on the new stadium and the resale price dipped considerably. I actually just bought 3 new PSLs (sec 106) for like 30% of “face value”, and I’m hoping to sell my current pair of tickets in sec 128 at some point for about the same. My advice to anyone who’s offered face value for PSLs for any new stadium in the future has always been to decline, and simply wait. The value always depreciates.

I'm not defending the use of PSLs, but you aren't double paying for the seats. I mean when you walk in the door of a Costco, are you double paying becasue you had to pay a yearly fee? Sure if you only hold onto the PSL for one year you are. If you plan on holding onto seats for 10+ years amortizing the cost over that period adds $50-$60/seat?

And if the Giants didn't charge PSLs, I am pretty sure they would have just raised the costs for the season tickets to make up that gap.

If Costco charged a one time fee of $1200 to use their facilties vs a yearly fee is it that much different than a PSL?

I was on the waitlist for 21 years before the new stadium and was offered PSL. I jumped. 11 years later I have no regrets. Some bought PSL as an investment. Bad move and should have known better. My $4000 x2 PSL was worth every penny. I get to sit with the same group of great people every game for years. Never have to worry about where I sit, who I sit next to and how much I pay for a ticket. I have mezzanine endzone/side end zone seats and love em.

upstatenyg : 2/26/2021 2:34 pm : link
that there was ticket exchange or stub hub when they sold these.

obviously now there are more options but not at the time.

the psl's sold out for the most part right away with few weird sections like mezz club that never caught on.

i believe they won't fill the stadium this year and will operate at a reduced capacity, so stay tuned. you may still have a change to opt out.
My Theory
Bernie : 2/26/2021 2:46 pm : link
is that there will be huge demand to attend games in person this year after having that taken away in 2020. People love the in person experience even if the cost is astronomical.

Can someone explain PSL'
sec308 : 2/26/2021 3:52 pm : link
We haven't had tickets in decades and I wouldn't have ever have done the license thing, but I was under the impression the Giants would return the money when you would give up the season tickets. Are you under obligation to sell them to somebody else? If you just walk away from your tickets and the Giants want to sell them again do they still charge another PSL. If nobody is buying doesn't that hamstring the Giants?

That money is a sunk cost. Unless you are able to sell the PSL to someone else, you don't get any money back from it. If you surrender it back to the Giants, they can resell the PSL.

They definitely have inventory because every year they offer the opportunity to buy season tickets or offer single game seats
there was a time
upstatenyg : 2/26/2021 4:03 pm : link
they would assist in selling and they had lists of people who wanted to buy in each section. Those days are gone and all demand was satisified.

the demand for psl's has dropped but is still there. folks, including many here, enjoy going and having the ability to attend every week.

I know for a fact that each game seats are unsold
Hammer : 2/27/2021 3:30 pm : link
For the last five seasons, there have been six empty seats behind mine in the endzone mezzanine section.

There is never someone in those seats, never.

BS. For myself, I had been on the waiting list for 20 years and just cracked under 1000. I was getting close and happy to wait while I purchased tickets about once a year from someone looking to get rid of them. PSLs came and I got a call after the first couple of rounds. Of course, the only seats I could reasonably consider were all gone. I was first offered a $2K PSL with seats around $100. I said no thank you, I can't afford it. The same agent called 1 week later with $5K PSL and more expensive ticket price. Were you not listening the week before? I would have been more than happy waiting for the list, as opposed to PSLs. Not to mention, in true disjointed fashion, our co-owners had a completely different pricing plan that was slightly more fan friendly.

Many here, including those who purchased PSLs were not happy then and less are happy now. Of course, it doesn't help that the product on the field has sucked.

There are 2 sides to every story/issue. I was on the wait list for 21 year. My number was down under 6000 (not sure how you could have been down to 100 in 20 years but whatever). I was one of those that went to 6-8 home games every year for over 20 years by scalping on the side of rt 17 every game. When my name came up for the new stadium, I jumped at spending $4k x 2 seats. I was lucky. I could afford it. And trust me, overall it was cheaper than scalping. If you only go to 2-3 games a year then I get it. I never regretted shelling out $8k to give me the right to my 2 seats every year. I sit with a great group of people and look forward to each game even if the product sucks. It's an afternoon out with friends. I look at a bigger picture I guess.
