Yesterday was about depressing movies.
Today its about the chills that are cool chills. The parts of movies that give you that good feeling hair raising moments...
Mine is the Last march of the ents... the speech and music just gives me the chills!
what are yours?
Last March of the Ents - (
New Window )
My favorite movie and I've seen it many times, but that scene chokes me up EVERY time.
Dis is our time... der time is done!!!

Great monologue from radio guy and follow up song... - ( New Window )
I also liked the scene in Furiuos 7 at the end when Brian and Dom drive away in separate directions to Wiz Khalifa's "See you again". Chills and a tear for me.

dance scene at end - ( New Window )
"I'm having an old friend for dinner"
Rohirrim Charge at Gondor
Rohirrim Charge at Gondor - ( New Window )
They'll come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up your driveway, not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past.
"Of course, we won't mind if you look around," you'll say. "It's only twenty dollars per person." They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it. For it is money they have and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the bleachers, and sit in shirt-sleeves on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game, and it'll be as if they'd dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick, they'll have to brush them away from their faces.
People will come, Ray.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game -- it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again.
Ohhhhhhhh, people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come.
Yeah... chills.
"You're all clear kid, now let's blow this thing and go home!"

Vader badass scene - ( New Window )
In particular, I've always loved Rocky IV scenes where they all start chanting for Rocky and he gives his "If i can change, and you can change, then everybody can change!" speech....
perfect choice...
sound sucks but you get the point - ( New Window )
What? Really?
Any other answer besides an overly dramatic speech in a throwaway summer blockbuster is wrong?
I think you might need to watch some better movies.

If you didn't say it, I would have...
So much to get into leading up to that. Kinda geeky but...For starters, it was highly rumored one or both of CPT America and Ironman were going to be killed off. Both of their contracts were up and that was a big theory. At that point in the battle, the two remaining avengers (Thor and Ironman were knocked out and Thanos had just whaled on CPT America. His shield broke in half and he was limping. In front of him was the whole Army of Thanos You kind of thought ok, this was it, this is where he gets killed, but you admired he was still going to go out and fight until then end...and then, "On your left..."

Sorry, I missed the "good" part. DOH!

You know... I'm no huge Star Wars fan by any means, but that entire scene was really well done. I particularly like Hamill's facial expression as he released the torpedoes. It conveyed so well the magnitude of the moment, what was riding on those torpedoes hitting home.
Braveheart when he sees his wife at the end.
The end of the Patriot and Saving Private Ryan.
the whole thing combined with music just does it.

how dare you insult independence day in that way
The "Cease Fire" scene definitely gave me chills. That entire 10 minute sequence as a whole was just awesome.
In particular, I've always loved Rocky IV scenes where they all start chanting for Rocky and he gives his "If i can change, and you can change, then everybody can change!" speech....
Rocky 2 when Adrian wakes up from her coma and whispers I want you to win! And Mickey screams whatta we waiting for!
Ending Scene - ( New Window )

Multiple scenes across the franchise except for Rocky V... still get excited every time he wins,,,

To add on to this;
the opening of Rocky, with the full screen letters scrolling right to left, that 15-20 second overture is just beautiful.
"You want to know how to get Capone, here's how you get him. He pulls a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. THAT'S the Chicago way. THAT'S how you get Capone."
"Now, do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that? I am making you a deal, do you want this deal?"
Costner (Ness):
"I have sworn to put this man away with any and all legal means at my disposal. And I will do so."
(pause)
Malone:
"Well, the Lord hates a coward." They shake hands. "Do you know what a Blood Oath is, Mr. Ness?"
Ness:
"Yes."
Malone:
"Good, cause you just took one."
scene - ( New Window )
Jimmy Conway - ( New Window )
"They bleed just like we do!"
"YESSIR!"
"They sweat just like we do!"
"YESSIR!"
"They went through two-a-days, we went thru two-a-days in 110 degree heat!"
AHHHHHHHH!
Also the slow mo run by Winchell that comes just short at the end...makes me want crush.
Winchell calls the final play
The call home - ( New Window )
Give me your best - ( New Window )
Total nerd stuff but the scene in Final Fantasy Advent Children when they fight Bahamut gets me every time.

Also love about 20 minutes earlier, the scen in the Judge's office.
I agree with the earlier mention of Han showing up to clear Luke's way in New Hope.

You have good taste...
That scene hits even harder after you've seen the movie and know what is going to happen.
From that same movie the scene that does the same thing to me. It' occurs a few minutes after yours.

When you know what's going to happen based on history it's even more moving.
When Robert Redford's character hits the homerun at the end of the movie and makes the trot around the bases in slow motion.

This thread inspired me to watch Miracle tonight with my oldest (16). Thank you.

In the hockey world they've actually renamed those suicides to "Herbies"
ask my kids if they want to do Herbies, lol, they all yell "we play for the Lady Flames" before we even start doing them, thinking that will end it, but we do them for endurance not as a punishment. Have to admit the first time I heard them I laughed.
