Admit it You love Frank playing. He just makes stuff happen and hits the free throws like no big deal. The shooting form is really good. He will be an asset moving forward. Rose was exhausted at the end of the game got owned by McConnell on both sides of the ball except had a nice tip on the Frankie steal.
17 11 and 5 steala for Rose tonight

Haha take a bow, Frank with a nice contribution once again. Solid move by Thibs getting him in for his defense at the end

So which combination is better for longer than a few games?
81_Great_Dane : 2/27/2021 10:44 pm : link
PG 1 Payton; PG2 Rose
PG 1 Rose, PG 2A Ntilkina; PG 2B Quickley

I don't think Rose can play the kind of minutes that Payton normally does, so they need two backup PGs, in my uneducated opinion.

Rose should be playing 27 to 30 minutes a night tops..

Quickley has to take the rest..

I think Rose can give you 20-25 minutes a night.
He is only 32, I know he has the injuries but give the remaining minutes to Quickley, Frank, etc

And Wally disagreed. Hahn wanted to argue with Wally but Wally just kept making his point. They both have a point. Wally was saying Thibs doesn't want to go small ball at all. If he did they would have played it more against Indy. Hahn saying they don't really have a choice if it is just Noel tomorrow.

When he missed his first two threes against the Nets on Jan 13, he was 9/52 for the season, 17.3%.

And that 9/52 included going 7/8 in two games against the Pacers; otherwise he was 2/44.

Since that nadir, he is 30/63, 47.6%. The hot spell has exceeded the cold and is getting to be a significant sample.

Bullocks minutes. Its not like Bullock is doing anything noteworthy out there. He got abused on defense last night.
We all have to be extremely bullish on Barrett.
robbieballs2003 : 2/28/2021 7:59 am : link
The kid is 20 years old and has showed so many signs of greatness imo. His biggest task ahead now is to just put it all together and become more consistent. We know he can drive but needs to make better decisions when doing so. We know he can shoot the three but needs to be more consistent. We know he can rebound. We know he can not be outmuscled. We know he can pass but he just needs to learn the nuances about it like when to let the ball go and how much zip he puts on the pass. I think the one thing he has to cut down on is over-dribbling. He gets sloppy with his dribble when he holds onto the ball too much like when he brings the ball up the court. I remember 2 carries by him when you rarely see that called in the NBA. He has a high dribble so it is easy to attack him. You don't want him handling the ball too much. That is why that 3 ball is so important now. If you put him with a penetrating PG that can collapse the D and find him at the 3 point line then he puts the D in such a bind. He can hit the three or it puts him in better position to drive where he can shoot or dish. I think that is where is game will develop and where he'll be most effective. The two missed FTs at the end of the game were brutal when we were up 2 but he gets a pass because we won and he had the 6 points in two possessions to give us the lead late. Last night when asked about the FTs he said he has to he better than that. In the long run I like this. He has been going through adversity. Things like this can get a lot of players down but he is showing that fight an perseverance. The sky is the limit for him.

Chris L. : 2/28/2021 8:04 am : link
You are soooo right!!!!! All the kid needs is consistency. Kid will be able to do it all when he grows up....shoot from 3, dibble drive, post up, play great defense, rebound like a maniac, play point forward. What more could you want? There will be nights in the next year or two when he will be maddening but the finished product is going to be very, very, very good!
Can you imagine how good this team will be
Chris L. : 2/28/2021 8:08 am : link

went and meet him there. I dont get why thibs likes him so much. He is supposed to be a shooter and is shooting 36% from 3 and 40% overall. Im not a frank supporter at all, but id give him all of bullocks minutes. Just start Burks, give him 5-10 more minutes a game and give the rest to Frank. Burks is a better version of bullock anyway.

out assets for Beal. The bold move I wouldn't mind seeing us take would come on draft night. Would love to see us package picks and a player or two (if that's what it takes) to move up to the three or four position to draft Jalen Suggs. Can you imagine a core going forward of Suggs, Barrett, Randle, Mitch, IQ .... I would be willing to part with someone like Obi (even thou I love his game and his potential but seems like he might be "blocked" with Randle) and multiple picks to make that happen. What kind of package do you Knick fans think it would take to jump to the third position in the draft? Let's assume our two picks turn out to be 12 and 16???
In his interview last night he made a comment like
robbieballs2003 : 2/28/2021 8:22 am : link
Nobody works harder than this team. They want to win. He is used to winning so this is a good feeling.

That right there is such a drastic change from almost 20 years of basketball on the Knicks. Yes, we had some winning years over the 20 years but this is just different. One of my biggest goals this year was to fix the culture of this team. I never thought it could be done in one year. And maybe it wasn't because the ground work was laid prior to this year with guys like Barrett and Randle already on the team.

Hahn also said something last night that I didn't fully hear but I think he was talking about Randle. If not I apologize. But he was going on to say Randle is not just here for himself. He isn't here just to put up numbers and get a new deal. He said you see him jawing with the opposing team's bench and sticking up for the young kids on the team letting them know he has their back. Hahn said he is fully embracing being a Knick. It shows he wants to be here and cares about this team. That shit goes a long way especially when it is your best player doing that.

We finally seem to have the right pieces to build around with this franchise which is a big reason I don't want to give up these young pieces in a trade, even Obi. Sometimes getting talent backfires is that person isn't the right fit. I love the fight in this team. I won't go into the whole trade situation and start that conversation again but I think we can all agree that we need the right types of players on this team to keep this going right now. These players truly fight for one another and that isn't a common thing in today's NBA where guys force trades all the time. This team is starting to remind me of the 90s Knicks where we didn't have the best talent on the court but they were a tough bunch that was going to make you earn it every night if you were going to beat them. There is no quit in this team. Hell, look at last night. They were down 16 points in the second and went into the half with the lead. Then they were playing like shit again and Indy was up like 9 points or so in the 4th and the Knicks just said fuck you and went on to have like a 5 or 7 point lead. There are very few games this year where they were blown out and if they were I think I remember it was just because they couldn't hit a fucking shot to save their lives. It happens every now and then. Otherwise, they are in every game.

If you have noticed, I truly think Thibs wants Quickley at the 2. That was a main reason for trading for Rose imo. Also, with Rose starting the last 2 games you'd think Quickley would be the point guard with the second unit. Nope. He's barely brought the ball up. That is why Frank has gotten playing time over someone like Rivers. And with that second unit, Burks has been handling the point hence why he isn't starting.

I'm just throwing this out there. If we got someone like Lonzo Ball then I can see him starting with the first unit. I think you'll still see Bullock start but I also think we see a shorter leash with Burks getting more minutes overall. That would leave Rose to limit his minutes with the two's. Quickley then focuses more on the 2 position. If he is playing under control then you'll see his minutes up as well.

I do like that Frank is playing well and showing Thibs that he can trust him in certain spots. That was huge last night for, one, Thibs putting Frank on the court for the last possession and, two, Frank coming away with the game clinching steal. Yes, Rose created it but most guys aren't going to be that aggressive to be able to come away with the actual steal. He showed his awareness, quickness to get to the ball, and long arms to tap it away enough so he can run it down. I hope he keeps building that trust with Thibs.

As you may know from my posts in the past I am not a trade the youth guy. I am a build the young core guy. Bottom line is at some point we need a good point guard preferably a star point guard. I agree draft picks are always a gamble but Suggs is crazy good. Also, star point guards particularly young ones don't generally become available in free agency. If we stick with our own picks I like Jared Butler a lot but Suggs has the ability to be a cornerstone piece.
I think with Quickley

Yeah, I wasn't responding to your post. You posted that when I was typing so I never saw it until after. In your situation, yeah, I would make a move for Suggs. But it isn't happening. Our picks are both going to be good enough unless Dallas trades KP and they falter or we are lucky enough to win a lottery spot.
Yeah...the price
Chris L. : 2/28/2021 8:44 am : link
would likely be steep. Would love to hear from people who know way more than me what they think that price would be if our picks turn out to be say 12 and 16.
The Knicks are the only true unifying NY sports team..
Sean : 2/28/2021 9:39 am : link
Something that has always irked me about NY sports is that the city is never unified behind one team. Yankees/Mets; Giants/Jets; Rangers/Isles are all split where half the city roots against the other team. It always bothers me when I see a city fully behind a team, NY doesn’t get that.

The Knicks though are unifying. It’s been a long time, but this is the team the city rallies around. It’s nice to see.

This, so much. I would honestly love to see Frankie starting at the 2, move RJ to the 3 with Payton (for the time being) at the 1. You can say what you want about Payton, but he plays solid D, gets to the line, is great getting points at the basket. Ive also noticed that RJ is really not very good at chasing down SGs. This line-up gives you 4 players that have at least above avg handle (including Randle), 4 players that can play pretty good defense (including Noel...I classify Randle and Barrett as half a defender each, lol).

You have a second unit of Rose, Quick, Burks, Taj/Knox (Randle with have to overlap and /or play the 5 until Mitch or Taj get back). Bullock can pretty much get lost, but if we are down big or if Burks/RJ are having an off night, he's another shooter of the bench.
