Really fun game last night. Other than RJ's two bricked crunch time free throws, he had a great 4th quarter. 4 3s overall last night on 6 attempts. He's at 34% from distance which is steadily getting him out of non shooter territory. In fact, since Jan 1 he's shooting 39% from 3 which is decidedly a threat from distance.
Frank with another big time defensive play to seal the win. The story stays the same, if he can find a way to contribute on offense he'll get minutes. He's definitely jumped Rivers in the rotation, and if Elfrid gets traded at the deadline looks like he'll find regular time.
I someone still don't think is being made enough about Julius Randle's turnaround. The Knicks took a PF 8th overall this season because I would assume -- like literally everybody else without the last name Randle -- that they thought Julius would be gone after the year. He was a ball hog, a poor defender, an average shooter, an iffy leader. Fast forward one offseason and literally every night he is leading them in a number of categories and showing something new. Last night he held Sabonis to 15 points including a prayer banked 3 with 30 seconds left (Noel helped at the end due to foul woes) and had 4 steals. One of the most remarkable year over year turnarounds I've ever seen to be honest, and I don't think that's hyperbole. I'm actually curious if anyone can bring up some similar situations in the past, even across sports.
And then that leads into the Knicks as a team. 4th overall in the east. Still only .500, but coming into the year the question was "which top 5 guy makes the most sense in this loaded draft". Now they're on pace to pick around 20th. This is another situation I just don't remember there being another clear parallel for. Expected complete bottom dweller in the NBA turns into potential home court advantage team in the playoffs. It's a really fun group to watch too. The bench is active and gets hyped, they seem to love playing with each other. It's a really fun team to watch. I have friends from out of state texting me stuff about the Knicks for the first time in forever. Really did not see this as in the realm of possibilities this year, but wow what a pleasant surprise.
Going to be a sneaky tough game against the Pistons. Have to travel to Detroit, Taj is probably unlikely to play, and Noel just played 41 minutes. I really think they should consider bringing up Skal Labissiere from Westchester, who at least has played NBA minutes before and waiving Harper. I bet Obi gets more burn as well. Should be a fun one against a beatable team but with some challenges.
he played 40 minutes last night
That said, he's not what we need.
Said Wes and Rose are well connected and have the fire powrr to get someone to new york
Surprisingly undrafted in 2019 after a one-and-done season capped by a strong postseason run at Oregon, King found himself out of the NBA entirely at age 21, which was likely a wake-up call for the former McDonald's All-American. NBA scouts say that was more due to off-floor concerns than his evaluation as a NBA caliber player, concerns King has had to work hard to alleviate.
He would be a junior in college had he not left Oregon early, and surely would be projected as a first-round draft pick with what he's shown in the G League so far.

King has proven to be one of the best shooters in the G League thus far, making 50% of his 3-pointers while intriguing evaluators by handling the ball in pick-and-roll, shooting off the dribble and making plays for others. At 6-8 with a 7-foot wingspan and impressive fluidity, there just aren't that many wing players in his mold in the G League who can dribble, pass and shoot, which makes King an easy target for a league starved for players in that mold.
While he needs to get stronger, King also has some untapped potential defensively that could be developed as well. He's long and rangy and has shown the ability to defend players of several different types, using his length to bother smaller players and using his size to put a body on big men. His Westchester Knicks utilize smaller lineups with very liberal switching, which has offered King plenty of opportunity to show his versatility. If the intel on King checks out, expect him to get a call-up to the NBA fairly soon.

I think its a little different now that they are not a dumpster fire
Hitting 50% of your 3s on 4 attempts gets you a spot on a roster even if you bring nothing else to the table.

His point was the culture has change and Rose,WWW,and winning have made the Knicks relevant.
He also said Randle is the chip to bring the "superstar".
My guess would be Mitchell.
kidding aside, mitchell just signed a huge extension, cant imagine he forces his way off the team with the best record in the league not even a year after signing a huge extension.
He's also the leader of the team. He's a building block and tbh we should probably extend him sooner rather than later.

That's my feeling as well. Of course I don't know fuck all and don't write for the NBA, but i'd bet on a star forcing his way to MSG before this time next year. PRobably sooner.
Exciting time.

I assume by chip, he meant Randle is a guy that will draw a star here to MSG.
No way am I trading Randle. Not for anything less than what any other team would deem, "too much." No team would trade what I want for Randle and I ain't trading him for anything less. Fuck off NBA. We discovered Randle. He's ours.
Randle is making it look easy. This run of his is sustainable. To me it even looks more sustainable than Melo's play back in 2013.
Add to Randle. We could be so nasty with another big time player and some added backcourt and frontcourt depth.

Odom was a great player to be 2 or a 3 in a big 3.
