You've mentioned a couple of times that you live very close to Clover Park. I have a realtor down there who's sending me listings of some of the communities in PSL. We're thinking of moving, not right away, but at some point in time.
If you don't mind my asking....is there any section of the area that I should stay away from ??
The Listings she sent me from 'Tradition' area look great. Need more details on it though.
Port St Lucie is growing like crazy. I moved here in 1986 and there were around 30,000. It's somewhere around 200-215k now. And predictions indicate it may hit 300k by 2030. With that being said, Tradition is a nice area. A bit pricey for me and too many fees. The Southern Grove plan, which will be at the southern end of Tradition, is expected to have huge growth. They are building a development with a large artificial wave lake just north of the I-95 Saint Lucie West exit. That's not started yet. I live just north of the stadium in the Torino area. Convenient to Saint Lucie West and the stadium, yet I can walk out behind my house and walk through woods. Not many places like that in Port St Lucie.
Taxes are higher in Saint Lucie than they are in Indian River County( Vero Beach)
The crime rate for Port St Lucie is low. All the main growth is right along the I-95 corridor. So where you are looking with your realtor us the right area. I would stay west of the Turnpike,
Catcher Bruce Maxwell is a non-roster invitee. He is famous for being the first MLB player to kneel for the anthem. He played in Mexico in 2019 and sat-out 2020.
Thanks Ron.
And I thought Charleston SC was growing fast !!
West of the Florida Turnpike -- got it.
I'd like to see what this kid Carlos Cortes brings to the table. He's probably headed to the minors this year...but he could impress in the Spring Games.
for a team that had a great offseason they've kept the hype down
which I think is a very positive development. Wish they'd added 1 more dependable player in the BP but they do have a lot of younger fringe guys so who knows. They are due to have a player like that actually become a contributor.
Mets tried for Bauer and when they failed, they went to plan B
Bauer would have added greatly to the organization overall talent level
But after adding 30 million in Lindor and Carrasco, there is no way they could match the Dodgers without going over the luxury threshold. It was wise not to go over because Nets will very likely be over each of the next two years when Cano’s salary returns.
Plan B is to add depth this year and keep financial flexibility for the future.
Mets definitely thought they were going to get Bauer. They moved Matz to clear salary. But they made a nice recovery picking up Walker, Villar, Pillar. Injuries have killed this team since 2017. Now they have insulated themselves as much as possible
Emerges from the scrap heap. Last year it was Shreve. We have enough of an interesting mix that I expect somebody to emerge again. Rooting for Viscaino.

Still think the Lucchesi deal was overkill as we got a comparable player in Yamamoto for a lesser prospect, but I do like that we appear to have better depth than our usual career minor leaguers that make up AAA roster. We need to continue to use our draft pool allocation (that was one area where I am happy BVW got through to the Wilpons), but that does not mean blowing it all in early rounds unless you have a player who you have ranked signficantly higher than your highest ranked draftee that would sign much closer to slot.

Sandy Alderson: Taking background checks to "a somewhat higher level." And being “more intentional about communicating with women who may have had some contact" with the potential new employee.

Alderson said the Mets had discussions internally about Trevor Bauer's social media presence - noted they had women in that discussion.
new arms in camp imo. Reid-Foley had a good run in a small sample last year, which anyone can do and we've seen from guys who ended up tanking, but he is higher pedigree than most of the players we've recently seen (Bautista, Smith, Rhame, etc).
Tarpley's k rate is intriguing but his hr and walk rates are scary.
Barnes seems to have the most tools, strong k rate, decent walk rates, good spin, and he's had a decent track record. He's just gotten lit up the last 2 years.
McWilliams is basically just a prospect but he's huge and throws hard so who knows.
Would be great to hit the lotto and get 1 strong contributor out of that group (and all the others).
not hopeful on Tarpley as anything more than org. depth, but who knows if he can get some control. Agreed on the other three. I like them. I'm also intrigued to follow Jared Robinson. He'll be in the minors, but if he can reduce his walks, he has a fantastic K rate and could be a contributor in a year or two
"At some point even Steve Cohen runs out of money". He said that if we signed Springer then Conforto extension would have been difficult. Could have worded it a lot better.
Harol Gonzalez was still in the organization. Hope Szapucki gets in the game, he's my lottery ticket for help from the minors should they need it this year. Stuff was great before TJS.

not sign Lindor or Conforto or Syndergaard, but before I worry about it I will a) see who they do sign and b) see who they replace the player with.
Not signing Lindor would be bad since they traded two shortstops for him, but like I said I'll wait to see what they do before caring too much.

is already viewed as a leader in the clubhouse, has been talking to the kids, as well as working with Davis on positioning. When fans act as if simply replacing stats X with stats Y it's not as simple as that. Lindor is a special guy.

I don't view it as stats for stats, but i do view it as the Mets gave up a decent amount to get him, so I feel it's important that he's re-signed. The leadership stuff is gravy to me. Important and underappreciated perhaps but mostly he's one of the best SS's in the game.

My concern with Springer was -- when you put him in CF, you move Nimmo to LF.....and you lose Dom Smith's bat for many games.
If the NL had made an early commitment to the DH, Springer's a done deal at 5 years or 6.

Yeah, I agree, just concerned with his height.
Some times you get pitchers this tall they easily lose their mechanics (remember Mike Pelfrey?) Randy Johnson was an anomaly.
