Board Member 1: I've never heard of half of these guys and the ones I do know are way past their prime.
Charlie Donovan: Most of these guys never had a prime.
Rachel Phelps: The fact is we lost our two best players to free agency. We haven't won a pennant in over thirty-five years, we haven't placed higher than fourth in the last fifteen. Obviously it's time for some changes.
but I dont consider it a sports movie because the plot would not really change if it revolved around a non-sports venue. Same as Die Hard not being a Christmas movie because not much changes if it were set at Thanksgiving or no holiday at all.
Field of Dreams
Endless Summer
Cars (It IS about racing)
On Any Sunday
I've never seen it, but I've always heard that Grand Prix is very good and one of the few racing movies ever made that is actually worth watching. Among other things, there are real racing drivers (big time ones, too) and real racing in it.

Dont @ me.
lol don't @ me. You drop some shit like this you will get @'d.
You don't think the fact they were "caddies" and that minor detail even carried through to the movie title has an impact on the plot?

That is exactly my point - they could have been bellhops at a hotel and the plot would have been exactly the same.

but that's a completely different movie.
Jaws didn't have to involve a shark or been set in a beach town, it could have been a cheetah in the jungle. Does that mean it's not a shark movie?
Just take this back and move on with your life, I know you were probably just trying to outsmart yourself here and it appears you have done it.
I know a lot of people dont like this one because of the Tom Cruise factor, but ive always loved this movie. Thought there was a lot of truth to how it depicted certain parts of the high school football experience, including the middle aged locals who are completely wrapped up in the results of the local high school team.

People don't like that movie because of Tom Cruise? He basically carried the movie. Him and Craig T Nelson.
He's a top 5 actor of all time (in terms of popularity). Isn't he?
Are there people who don't like Tom Cruise acting?

Why am I so behind the times with pop culture?
Great movie.
Yeah, so thats more than likely ME being behind the times with pop culture. When it comes to that its still pretty much 1986 in this house:). And back then, I knew more than a few, in fact a LOT, of guys who just DID NOT like that guy. Then again, all it takes is one comment from the girlfriend or wife while watching Top Gun and thats all she wrote for Mr Cruise.

I think people hate Tom Cruise due to Scientology, not his acting ability. Nevertheless it clouds their judgement of his movies.

It wouldn't be different though, thats my point. The scenes where there was golf involved really didn't have much to do with golf in any meaningful way.
You seem really upset by this take and if it lowers your blood pressure, I will take it back. All the best.
It’s personal preference. What fail ?

Rachel Phelps: Cross him off, then!

The "track" movies are really good. Chariots of Fire was great. As was Prefontaine and Without Limits, which was also about Pre.
