Vikings released veteran TE Kyle Rudolph.

Being discussed by Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan on Sirius right now.
nope

no thanks
Great guy, good tight end
HomerJones45 : 3/2/2021 5:58 pm : link
but I think his best days are behind him.
Going to be a lot

of "older" expensive players let go. Should be a field day for teams with needs. Not sure Rudolph is what the Giants are looking for but guys like Van Noys and such should be.
I’ll take him
eric2425ny : 3/2/2021 6:11 pm : link
over Engram. Probably half the price tag at this point and he can actually block and not cause 6-8 turnovers a season.

31 years old. Pass.

There's
Sammo85 : 3/2/2021 6:16 pm : link
going to be some interesting names who are going to be forced to take one year incentive laden type deals.

Don't say "no" just based on age thinking we can fill every hole or depth option with a premier FA or draft pick.

We will need guys that can handle a scheme/playbook quickly and understand the NFL speed even if they might be part timers or role players.

This roster still needs a lot of "build" work and glue parts to it.

Agreed.
Always thought he was kind of overrated on the field.

Got off to a slow start because of injuries, then had a fairly short peak. Nice red zone target, solid chain mover. Improved his blocking to extend his career. Could have remained a Viking, but didn't accept the requisite pay cut.

Beloved figure in the community, though.

No......but this is just the beginning.....

We will see plenty of players on the street.....that will end up as bargains.....

Well versed and regarded coaches...should attract players.

....with a much better understanding of of their roster...

So I expect holes should be plugged.

Love a Domer-Tate aside-but nah. His best days are behind him.
Id take

This guy in a heartbeat. Rudolph on the downturn of his career is still head and shoulders better for our team than that bum Engram.
decent chance

Ertz will come free.

Which one is the better choice?

I totally agree. A true professional at this position for a year or two could really help Jones’ development.
LOL

One constant with BBI is that no matter who becomes available we have a hundred reasons for not signing him

I’d take Rudolph over Ertz. Ertz has been non stop injured the past few years.
Way better than what we’ve got
BillT : 3/2/2021 7:40 pm : link
And like was said probably cheaper as well. Nothing wrong with a stopgap here and there.
There will be a lot more of this in next couple of weeks
ZogZerg : 3/2/2021 7:41 pm : link
No need to rush into anything.
I would think the Vikings
djm : 3/2/2021 8:43 pm : link
Like what they have in younger TE Irv Smith JR. JR went to Alabama I think? His dad played in the NFL, went to ND.

Agreed. With the lower cap now established, there are going to be several waves of these unexpected releases...
Charlie Weis has said on multiple occasions that Rudolph would
eric2425ny : 3/2/2021 9:17 pm : link
have been a perfect fit with the Giants. He’s no superstar, but if we got him in here on a 1-2 year reasonable deal and then drafted a guy for him to mentor vs having Toilalo and Engram eating up cap space I’m all for it.
trading EE and signing a stop gap like rudolph
GiantsFan84 : 3/2/2021 10:35 pm : link
makes all the sense in the world. so i'm sure the giants won't do it

You can never have too many players...

who despise the color green.
If you can get him
Dankbeerman : 3/3/2021 12:01 pm : link
for the money you were paying Toilolo do it. Obvious red zone help and can help as the extra TE too. If he wants to start or be paid like it hard pass.

Always thought he would be the perfect fit with Eli. to bad we couldnt sign him 5 yeara ago
