if or how much the dynamic has changed in terms of Judge's influence over personnel decisions.
(Start of media session)
DG: Just wanted to get everybody together to inform you that the Giants and I have come to mutual understanding that I will be stepping down as GM at the end of this season.
And in an effort to begin this transition process sooner than later we are turning over full decision-making responsibilities with respect to the roster onto Head Coach Joe Judge effective immediately.
No fan of Jordan but I don’t blame him if he does. It’s unacceptable, Gettleman has made this team worse since he took over which I didn’t think that was possible.

The team was really good from 2013-2017. Littered with talent from those tremendous picks from Marc Ross.
You are one of Gettleman's biggest supporters on the site so start a discussion about him and/or Judge and run with a related topic, any topic, it doesn't even need to be about the press conference.
Two things I have been wondering about and my phrasing is probably a awkward, but I'd like to hear him asked something along the lines of the following. Though I don't think he'd give an "insider" answer, in fact I can probably predict exactly what he'd say.
1) Re: Trade down in the draft
Dave, you've never traded back in the draft, though last year you said you would "seriously entertain" trading back and that the Giants were "open for business". After the draft last year you said you had "no firm offers". Would you say that the inability to trade back was a disappointment?
This year, for a team with this many holes and six draft picks, would you agree that trading back in the draft, in any round, is an opportunity that you should be actively seeking out? If a trade back cannot be completed, would that be disappointing this year?
Do you think maybe you have set the bar too high on evaluating such a trade? In fact how do you evaluate the parameters of a trade down?
2) RE: replacing own FA with other FA
Obviously if you don't sign your own free agent player, you have to replace that player, usually with someone moving up the depth chart or by bringing in another FA. Comparing your own FA vs signing someone else, if both players are close in production, age, health and value, do you push harder to resign your own rather than spend similar money to bring in a similar guy from outside? I guess I'm asking about valuing continuity and familiarity against change and new blood?

Nothing is stopping you. Go ahead...
Do you remember last fall or summer when FMiC was challenged on a thread about his support of Gettleman and he said something along the lines of: "...where do I ever defend Gettleman?"
I was so caught off guard that I thought I was having a stroke...
I wish Eric would have taken nomination for BBI Quote of the Year because that would have been in contention. Easily. ;)
While I wish the Giants would be winning more frequently
Completely meaningless. You don't win games with press conferences. They are going to tell us EXACLTY what we want to hear. Why believe it? When I see some real results they can have some love. Until then, everything they say is suspect.
We just need more young players. And hopefully Judge's influence leads to more hits.
I think there is a better chance of him sitting alone in a room and typing away on his fake computer while other people handle the draft than what you are suggesting.
Despite Gettleman's missteps he still knows more about the NFL than anybody in this thread.
Criticism is to be expected, but the "DG is an idiot and I'm a genius" schtick gets old. Especially since most of you aren't nearly as knowledgeable as you think you are.

That kind of chest puffery grasps at the problem the Giants have. It isn't a competition about who knows the most about football. Football knowledge isn't DG or the Giants problem. There problem is that of thinking they have too many answers. The best leaders now know they don't have all the answers and rely on the best technologies and people with a wide range of skills to present them with different answers that examine all the best possibilities. They focus on decision making processes no who the smartest person in the room is. One person who thinks they are the smartest person in the room will lose to more people in a relentless pursuit of the best information every time. The Giants liked Barkley's character and athleticism, indeed he was off the charts in those categories. They ignored other very relevant data on durability, on positional value. The problem in the Giants front office isn't lack of football knowledge. It's the way they weigh that one piece of the puzzle FAR too much.

I'd like to hear Judge asked to be more specific about the team's identity. What strength is Judge aiming for in 2021 and 2022?
Like the rest of us I am thinking in terms of stats, unit / squads, their play. But of course Judge would answer in terms of philosophy (smart sound football etc).
So far, the guy has proven he can't build a winning football team, but he's the most entertaining GM in the sport...

You knew that this thread would be light on discussing the topic and heavy on bashing Gettleman. Not a single post that doesn't.
Look forward to seeing them...

Why wouldn't someone bash Gettleman?
At this point the guy is down to one supporter. Unfortunately for all of us that one supporter happens to own half the team. Long odds.
Look forward to seeing them...
Sure hope you are correct, because I can't take much more Mr Magoo
Seems a little quiet so let me bump it up a bit...

It's pretty straightforward - it is an announcement that there will be a press conference. There really doesn't have to be much discussion around it
For many - it is just an opportunity to bash the GM. Including you.
Seems like the primary motivation of a poster who was banned and returned just to exhibit continued cuntery.

It is a comic relief you guys relish in fueling.

Pretty certain we don't provide the fuel for DG's crappy roster decisions nor his foolish public statements. Same goes with a lot of your posting.
Yet here we are, having a few laughs...

Oh no! Fans say mean things about him on a message board. Get a life.
I'm not so sure about that.
He has said very recently that you still win in today's game by running the ball. Do you think that's accurate?
