In the context of how well they can deal with a maturing 4-headed monster within our own division:
2020 Regular Season Stats
Montez Sweat (Age 24)
Tackles: 45
Tackles for Loss: 12
Sacks: 9
Chase Young (Age 21)
Tackles: 44
Tackles for Loss: 10
Sacks: 7.5
Daron Payne (Age 23)
Tackles: 54
Tackles for Loss: 7
Sacks: 3
Jonathan Allen (Age 26)
Tackles: 63
Tackles for Loss: 3
Sacks: 2
If you think we've seen the best of this unit, guess again. And if our O-Line does not make a major step up in 2021 (either through maturation and/or a talent infusion), the Giants will find it tough sledding against the Washington Football Team.
Very tough.
That's because their offense is as inept as ours. But last season Washington's defense was:
4th in Points Allowed
2nd in Yards per Game
2nd in Passing Yards per Game
5th in INTs
6th in QB Sacks
While their Offenses struggle to put up 20 points in any game.
Strategery...
Longer term the NFC East has always been about the lines imv. The team strongest in the trenches has almost always been the winner. I don't like using multiple 1 round picks on the OL as they causes problems but they may need to if it is BPA.
Definitely no new news here! I was just stewing about our offensive line and how it still isn't where we need it to be (even though I think we all saw a few promising signs last season). And what really gets me is that we STILL need to pay serious attention to our O-Line when -- at the same time -- we have serious issues kinda all over the place. That's my bitch for the day. (:-(

just kidding. I agree they need to solidify the OL and I think they are on the right path.

Unfortunately making up roughly 1 quarter of all starters (and some of a team's most vital backups) - it seems in a capped era that offensive line is nearly always going to need serious attention in the offseason. How many teams are satisifed with their OL and depth heading into this year? Buccaneers are the only team that comes to mind. But totally agree that Giants need to continue to commit important resources to the line this offseason.
Was just stewing about our O-Line and the thought that Washington may well have put in place the pieces for a monster front line for years to come. No doubt Giants are thinking about the O-line along with several other areas that need upgrading.
Yep. They will already likely lose Kerrigan and they will have some big decisions next year on who to resign. And they still need a lot of help at QB and OL
:-)
I am on the Slater train as well. We need Dallas to go CB or they are sure to grab Slater at ten. Don't want Pitts or Waddle or CB. I want Slater. Lets win the LOS again with young studs.
So yes, they need to put a lot more forethought into the OL.
They need to get younger and better, mostly through the draft.
Consider LT did it back in the 80s before offenses were wide open and passing as often as they do now.
While their Offenses struggle to put up 20 points in any game.

lol Ok Googs you got me wit dat one. Dat am funny!
