NFT: Coming to America 2

Anakim : 3/5/2021 10:10 am
Anyone see it yet? I think I'm going to watch it tonight or this weekend. I really hope it's not like all these other craptastic sequels.

"The Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And in the end, the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory."
Probably going to watch it this weekend as well

I hear mixed to bad reviews so far but the trailer looked interesting. All of the same actors are a nice touch.
it's PG-13
Giantsfan79 : 3/5/2021 10:30 am : link
which makes no sense.
They all look pretty good
I Love Clams Casino : 3/5/2021 10:36 am : link
and whoever that actress was that played Lisa has aged quite nicely.....

a tad goofy so far...it evokes 1980's humor, but I guess it's suitable. about 20 minutes in..."stutter watching" it.
Definately gonna catch it maybe tonight

We watched the first one with my teenage kids a few weeks ago and they loved it. "yes! F@#k you too!"
I was excited

Coming to America is a classic and Murray and Snipes were awesome in Dolemite. But apparently it’s an uninspiring recycling of the jokes and characters of the original. So good for nostalgia but not comedy
I must be in the minority

I started watching the first Coming to America about a month ago largely based on what I'd heard on this site. And I do not see why people think it's so funny. I turned it off after 20-30 minutes.

That's probably why. You missed all of Eddie Murphy's antics when he actually COMES to America.
I'm hoping to see another cameo from

Randolph and Mortimer Duke

I'm hoping to see a cameo from the multi-talented Randy Watson from the "What's Going Down" episode of "That's My Mama"
If you liked the original, why shouldn't you hope that the
Marty in Albany : 3/5/2021 1:22 pm : link
sequel is even better.

Doesn't that explain why divorced people often remarry...and remarry.
I watched it last night...
vonritz : 3/5/2021 1:23 pm : link
and laughed my ass off. Is it as good as the original? Of course not. But the cast was excellent and the story was fun. There were a few regurgitated jokes, but they were still funny. There is an end credits sequence, so make sure you check that out.
I'm 45 minutes in and I haven't laughed once
Anakim : 3/5/2021 3:32 pm : link
It's awful so far

It's a riot, starting at the 31 minute mark
Loved the original

When I heard about this one I thought there was no way it would be any good. But, it's not getting terrible reviews.

How are they playing the same 3 old guys in the barber shop? Weren't they like 80 when the first one came out?
If they were..
FatMan in Charlotte : 3/5/2021 11:12 pm : link
80 years old, they were still much younger than Joe Louis.

A-Ha!
Just saw
JoeyBigBlue : 3/5/2021 11:28 pm : link
It’s not the classic the original was , but it’s an enjoyable movie. I really liked Wesley Snipes as General Izzi.

They’re played by Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall.

You meet the Dukes in a fun way.

Certainly not the original. Nice that they made it but it didn’t feel special. Wesley Snipes, who I’m a big fan of, was good as Izzi and his barking sister showing up was a nice touch. I liked Leslie Jones, and Tracey Morgan played Tracey Morgan.

No shoit who they're played by. The point is those dudes were about 80 30 years ago.
It’s hard to watch.
State Your Name : 3/6/2021 6:05 am : link
And well over 2 hours. They should’ve just made it a six episode limited series. That much corniness for that long just doesn’t work for me.
not the original
Allen in CNJ : 3/6/2021 6:38 am : link
but some parts I almost pissed myself laughing so hard... mind you I've seen the orignal >100 times in 33 years so there's that also!
Watched about 5 mins
lester : 3/6/2021 8:34 am : link
and was unimpressed so far. Everyone has aged, it wont be the same but ill give it another shot tonight.

So what I mean seriously it’s a freakin comedy and not an integral part of the story. If they want to sit in makeup for that many hours I can overlook it.

And who’s to say it couldn’t happen? Explain Betty White then lol
I may watch to see the house....
PA Aggie : 3/6/2021 9:36 am : link
I read that the location it was filmed at was Evander Holyfield's mansion in Georgia. It is now owned by rap artist Rick Ross. 45,000 sq ft and has everything you could dream up.
It's a nostalgia watch
BH28 : 3/6/2021 9:53 am : link
That's what you should set your expectations for. Nowhere near as good as the first, but i don't expect how anyone thinks it would be

Hey, I'm not bothered by it. It was just the the thought I had when I saw them. I've watched about an hour so far, and that was the best scene so far.
I wasn’t expecting much,
Section331 : 3/6/2021 10:57 am : link
and it didn’t deliver much, but there were a few funny moments. Mostly Leslie Jones, and I was disappointed that Tracy Jordan didn’t have more to do. I thought the bastard sone was pretty good too.

Of course, the barber shop steals the show.
